The Graveyard of Moderated Posts~roleplay always welcomed!

You know, I made this account name long ago expressly because of Invisigoth (with predictable results). To be fair, the name is a deliberate exaggeration, but the joke got old quickly. What's gotten even older (seriously, it's beyond old at this point) is how obsessively Invisigoth continues to look for any reason for absolutely everything Largo does to be wrong, even to the point of somehow doing all of the following simultaneously: accusing him of not helping, declaring that anything he might conceivably do to try to help would fail, and then declaring that if he did something that helped, it would be Fred doing it "for the lulz" (and would, by implication, therefore "not count").

I mean, really?

Dude, we get it. You don't like Largo. Stop trying to make it sound remotely reasonable, though, because at this point you're blatantly putting the character into boxes no one could get out of. Frankly, it comes off as ridiculously toxic.

Okay. Sorry, probably broke some forum rules or whatever, but I felt it needed to be said, and I know no one else will. Do whatever you've got to do; this account is pretty irrelevant to me anyway. Back to lurking now.

Edit: I lied. One more thing.

I want to be clear, Invisigoth, that the reason it comes off as toxic is not that you criticize or even dislike the character. It's that you absolutely always look for the worst possible way to view everything he says or does, even if you have to twist your own reasoning into a self-contradictory pretzel to do it. Like, I can disagree with a person on 99 percent of everything the person does or says, but then when we agree that 1 percent of the time, I can still give props on that one thing (Tucker Carlson speaking out against war comes to mind). That's not a perfect analogy, but I think you get what I'm trying to say.

With you and Largo, the way it comes off is that it has nothing to do with what Largo's doing or saying anymore; it's just that it's Largo doing or saying the thing. If Largo said it, it's wrong. If Largo did it, it's wrong. Why? Because Largo said it or did it.

And if that's the case, why even bother posting about it? Just assume everyone already knew. Because I assure you, whether they'll come right out and tell you like this or not ... everyone did know.

Ha, you should have seen Dog Soldier back in the day. Invisigoth is practically a "nuthugger" (Dog Soldier's term of art for Largo fans :D) by comparison.

And yes, I was back then occasionally guilty of tweaking in response by pointing out the impressive technical things that Largo did do right (the beer-and-breakfast-cereal-insulated Beowulf cluster etc.)

But saying Largo is "always" right ignores an awful lot of minor acts of wanton destruction -- like destroying a perfectly good rice cooker without managing to teach anything about English grammar (what he's nominally paid for) in the process. Worse, it ignores more than a few major acts of wanton destruction -- like destroying the building he and Piro were living in at the time while attempting to manufacture illegal narcotics.

It's not like Invisigoth is the only one "accusing" Largo of not helping here (yet). Well, I didn't see myself as "accusing" him of not helping when I agreed with Invisigoth's assessment, just that objectively I don't see him having done anything helpful. If that's an incorrect accusation, then it must be the case that Largo has done something helpful; so, what would that be exactly? So far it looks to me like Largo is being a bit of a minor distraction, talking when Erika would probably be better off focusing on Moeko and whatever she has to say.

Nothing new there, and certainly no big deal (Erika's managed to ignore his minor distractions before ). I just think the bigger question right now is just what "help" Erika might conceivably need (is Moeko actually a threat with intentions that will pose a danger to Erika and the others? Or is she "misunderstood", with Stability in the wrong for having kept her in the coma? There's a wide spectrum of possibilities consistent with "catastrophic powers"); giving Largo points, or taking them away, for the "help" he's about to provide both seem a bit premature to me. ;)

Some people really need to get a life

I originally used the screen name of White Knight to mock Largo, not because I hate him but because even from the beginning he had an organized crew of nuthuggers intent on shipping Erika x Largo and to a lesser degree Miho and Ping.

None of the people I was tweaking had any idea what I was doing and even when I just gave up on the shtick people freaking refused to let it go.

The thing that amuses me to most is that aside from not being a petty criminal and vandal I'm pretty much Largo myself :D Several times during development in different arcs I've been asked, "does that sound like Largo to you" by Fred :P

The fact is that in real life no one likes a Largo after you get to know them, I went on a rant the other day in the IRC channel about a former employee who was TOTALLY Largo done to dumpster diving our companies trash bin for things he'd thrown himself.

So, if you don't like me...fsk off l00z3r

PS: Largo rickrolling the CoE was BRILLIANT!!! But this is a very serious arc so there'll be no shenanigans

PSS: and also seriously WTF? I say that Largo doesn't even have a snowballs chance in hell of successfully pulling Erika out if Moeko doesn't want her to leave yet and that's an attack??? You nutthuggers are way too sensitive :D

PSS: if you've not figured it out yet this entire post is mostly a Fred-herring... ;)

I think there's nothing wrong to lose a screw or two sometimes

This isn't a forum about something that can be peer reviewed and proven beyond doubt

It's about story and Art of one gifted guy

Of course we will have opinions and hunches

And we're entitled to have them just as you are

Exactly cidjen . These forums are for discussion. What doesn’t work so well is when it’s used for some sort of team competition.

It also isn’t about me or my peculiar personality.

Everything's subjective I guess, but, I dunno, so far the groping looks pretty deterministic as far as I can tell.

Geeze, I tried all last evening to come up with a joke linking the "naughty" sense of blue I used above and the Doppler blue shift (because she's moving so fast... I guess that would make her back side redder ). But I failed completely, quite disappointing.

If a coma patient's back is red it usually means the staff need to turn them more often.

If you don't find something wrong with saying you WILL do something for a certain monetary amount and then not doing it consistently, then no amount of reasoning can help you. You're a blind fanboy.
Uh-huh.

And you, Sir, are a cynic.

cyn·ic

pronounced "SIN-ik"

noun

1. a person who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest rather than acting for honorable or unselfish reasons.
2. a person who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Two can play this game, y'know.....
Anyone who has ever given Fred as single penny is a moron the dude has never been able to keep pace even with his own promises about the comics........ in the entire history of the comic. He took 300 K from people promising a game that will never happen. There is almost nothing to show for that money other than his living expenses. And you'll expect anything different from Patreon? At this point I consider Fred nothing more than a scam artist who can draw.

This right here the moderators trying to protect their Con artist boss. I merely stated that he can't be trusted on the patreon because hes already proven himself untrustworthy by stealing 300 K from other people. I've been listening to Freds excuses for 15 years.

Thats all fine and good, but words matter. With the issues Fred has had his whole life, he should know by now to stop saying he will do something for money only to then not deliver. Its so easy to change the patreon goal to reflect this. Just don't say "I will replace 2 finished comic pages to 4 per month, if the patreon goal is reached" That's all it would take for me to stop pointing this out. It would be the honest thing to do. And you know that.

Concerned_user,

Please point to the contract that exists between Fred and us (his readers) about how many pages he "owes" us in return for what we give him.

You can't, can you?

"But words matter!", I hear you cry. Yes, they do -- if you break your promises too often, your word becomes worthless. But some of us have been around here for many years, and our interaction with Fred is relational, not transactional. If Fred is a bit slower than maybe he promised with the releases, so what? Don't hit his tip-jar as often (or at all) if you feel cheated.

Me? I'm a free-loader. I haven't spent a dime on Fred and Megatokyo since I bought a Miho "polesitting" poster ..... 15 years ago ..... (?) .... and I really should pitch something in to help out -- I've been reading the strip regularly since 2003 or so.

As it is, I'm grateful ...... repeat, GRATEFUL .... that Megatokyo didn't die over the course of the year-long hiatus when we left Chewtoy in his hospital bed at the end of Chapter 11. (Thank you for hanging in there, Fred!)

Maybe you should be grateful, too.
Taken word for word from Patreon:
I WILL replace two pencil and color illustrations I am currently doing per month with two Megatokyo comics to produce a minimum of four Megatokyo comics per month - more if I can.

Words matter. Especially where money is involved. Saying you WILL do something in exchange for a certain amount of support means people can expect this in return. How people choose to communicate is important. I just showed you the words you are looking for. If you don't find something wrong with saying you WILL do something for a certain monetary amount and then not doing it consistently, then no amount of reasoning can help you. You're a blind fanboy.
Concerned user...GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. Fred doesn't owe you a dam thing. Im so tired of people like you who think just because you donate to something you are owed anything at all. Its a TIP JAR basically. You donate when you can and if you can. SHeesh.
