What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
This season(at least to me) seems to be not as strong overall than last's, but still not bad.
Continuing Fruits Basket, Demon Slayer, and Carole and Tuesday. Looking forward to Dr. Stone, Vinland Saga, and Tagaki-san S2. Also giving Dumbbell a shot; if things don't work out, then I'll finish watching Chihayafuru and watch Eureka Seven.

Just saw the first ep of Dumbbell. This is going to be a fun show, I think. Good comic timing, and made well, too.

Astra Lost in Space - Came in with low expectations, but it is watchable. Keeping it for a few eps, at least.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
And now from the Shonen corner, we have both Dr. Stone and Fire Force. Both have high pedigrees, and look very good, but the writing doesn't hit home with me on either. The characters in Mr. Stone are too one dimensional, and I'm afraid that Shinra suffers from a little Dekuitis. I hope they don't drag out his tragic childhood like BNHA did.
And in the "now for something completely different" department, Fruits Basket started off its' second cour with a very well done heavy feels episode. Still better than anything new I've seen this season.

Anyone who has Amazon Prime needs to watch Vinland Saga. If it continues to deliver like the first three episodes, it will be a classic.

Fire Force is looking quite nice.
Lord El-Melloi will either be good or really pretentiously cringey.
I think I will enjoy Cop Craft.
Sounan desu ka is kinda amusing but the character designs are so reminiscent of some hentai I've watched before...
Symphogear XV is the only reason I haven't flung myself off a cliff.

Symphogear XV: Awesome series remains awesome.
Machikado Mazoku: Cute girls doing cute things fluff. ...Well, cute demon girl cutely trying (and failing) to kill a cute magical girl in order to remove a curse on her family, but, you know, it's all cute.
Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru: This girl is never going to lose weight unless she controls her eating. And she doesn't even seem to realize how much she's stuffing her face.

I know this one is complete but just found Buta Koushaku ni Tensei Shitakara, Kondo wa Kimi ni Suki to Iitai.... Now guess who did the protagonist there seem to resemble... ?

Finished Love Lab. What an adorable and perfect show.
Watching Monogatari in supposed chronological order of the story. I like it better knowing the back story. I enjoy it. I feel there is a bit too much fanservice and suggestive behavior, despite the fact that I enjoy these things. Just seems like there is a bit too much of it in my opinion. There is some good humor and I am fascinated by everything spiritual. So apparitions and all that stuff - I love it. I have watched Kizumonogatari, Nekomonogatari, and I am now watching Bakemonogatari. Also, the music for Nekomonogatari was amazing.
Oh yeah, I have started watching Mirai Nikki. I like it. Intriguing show especially when I want to watch something a bit more on the serious side.

Rewatched Soukyuu no Fafner. I was hankering for some mecha and absolutely did not remember what it was about, so I revisited it so I could watch the Heaven and Earth Movie and Exodus as well.
Now that I'm done with it all, I feel horrible just from how much of a trauma conga line the entire show is. Still looking forward to The Beyond too.
To continue with a sci fi binge, I'm rewatching Yamato 2199 so I can do 2202 with fresher memories.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
This past week I watched Sabage-bu. This has easily become one of my favorite shows of all time. This show by far broke the record for how much (I'll call it) "superficial" satisfaction a show could give me. I say "superficial" just because I love serious shows such as Nana, Shinsekai Yori, and Nagi No Asukara, which are much more profound and had a much deeper and more meaningful impact on me, but as far as more light-hearted/cute girl shows, I did not know it was possible for me to get this much satisfaction out of a cute girl show. I mean, for me, Sabage-bu was just the absolute perfect combination of hot/cute characters, the right type of humor, and the characters being badass with guns (while being pretty at the same time). The humor and characters were absolutely perfect IMO. I have never felt more satisfied with a cute girl show in my life. I mean, Idolmaster is more special to me, and other exceptions like that, but when it comes to the amount of direct satisfaction, I did not think it was possible for me to enjoy a cute girl show this much.
Also been watching Galaxy Angel season 2. Very similar type of humor to Sabage-bu. And great characters. Naturally, this is one of my favorite cute girls shows now as well.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
So I kept lingering on series I already read ( sorta abandoned some of the isekais because you know, day isn't made out of rubber) but then something happened and Hitman caught my imagination... The one about manga editors, that is. If Nozaki Weekly is a comedy, Hitman is the dose of reality... Everything you ever don't need to know about how manga publishers work.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
The Made In Abyss manga made me angry. Such terrific world that could have been explored for years. But it's like he had no idea what to do with it, so he fell back on abuse and loli porn instead. What an incredible waste.

The Abyss is currently where this manga is headed into, for sure. Literally a downward spiral, for sure. Can't think of any more puns....

newest updates
Watched Kimi ni Todoke. I absolutely loved it. It was absolutely adorable - both in the sense of having adorable characters (and uniquely adorable style of chibi art style) but absolutely adorable in the sense of having deeper, meaningful friendships where they really care about each other. It touched my heart so much. And it was just a well written interesting slice of life show. Well-written, interesting characters, etc. It was very good. Oh, and I don't think I have ever seen a show where I felt so much happiness whenever seeing the main character happy. I guess it's a combination of how cute/adorable she is, combined with how genuine and considerate and caring/nice she is. She's the type of character who you want to be happy.
Sabage-bu OVAs - the same brand of humor I love. Also... lots and lots of fanservice.
Started watching Sailor Moon. Haven't seen this show since I was 5. I originally watched dubbed on TV, now I'm watching subbed (still the original from 92), super cute, like it.
Started watching Fuuka. Seems a tiny bit too fanservicey right off the bat, but the relationships are interesting enough, I also like the music part.
Continuing Galaxy Angel with their perfect characters - almost on season 4 now.
Re-watching Aoi Hana right now. Really beautiful relaxing slice of life yuri show.
Re-watching Idolmaster Cinderella Girls from the beginning, since I never finished it a few years ago and I forgot everything. My current re-watching has reminded me of 1 good thing and 1 bad thing. The good thing: it has reminded me of why and how much I love Minami (the girl in my avatar). She just has such a relaxing vibe, and she is so mature and nice and sweet and cute. She is basically my all time favorite character. The bad thing I remembered was: I was reminded of why I wasn't super into the Cinderella Girls anime -- some of the plot developments are kind of boring and uninteresting to me. But I love the characters, and I love the music and performances.
Watching various other shows intermittently. His And Her Circumstances is adorable and good.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
@paarfi, @Yl33 D4 N00b,
re MiA
i read so far what was available/scanlated so far (the creation of the village at the bottom and its story),
oh well it is even preceded on the aggro with >17 warning, and no wonder.
(there is enough magical, fluffy and isekai and school and yuri and otome there to counter that gross trap, failing that, there is always Bleach or Dead Tube and Tokyo Ghoul which is a lot more gross and twisted. MiA is at least about some aspirations and friends and journey... )
(edit)
I just need to say this, since Fred already has 3 animedolls from this title, coincidentally the 3 main characters, I was wondering what's it about...
(edit2)
and tbh i sorta expected it to take that kind of turn after having a n3kk1d kid hung up within first 5? chapters for punishment.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
Although there are several cringe-worthy elements to the earlier chapters, my main issue is the serious bogging down of the story beginning in chapter 40, at Narehate Village. The chapters are coming less often, too, like the author doesn't know where to take it.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
mhh, the entire Lord of Dawn arc ... like, packing kids into containers... Prushka into a whistle... geez, where do I start? but with the story of Vueco... that went into overdrive of gross... it seems to me like the end is getting near. There be already hints at what Reg may be. So the end may be nya.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
I recently finished Yamato 2202. After of course my second go at 2199 and also checked out the movie. Which I thought would bridge the two seasons together, but was really just an additional story taking place close to the end of 2199. Though it did introduce the Gatlanteans(though albeit inaccurately imo?) and some other characters who made minor appearances in 2202.
Sci fi space operas are kinda a rare if not non-existent sight in anime nowadays so this was nice. My only criticism would be that the whole ride is quite dry. Overall very consistent somber kinda mood, not much humour to break things up though there are some light moments sprinkled in places. 2202 also felt incredibly melodramatic.
I wonder if Yamato was the one who pioneered the whole mega battleship gun with its Wave Motion Cannon from which stuff like Nadesico's Gravity Blast is derived from. Or is there something that came even sooner?

ZENONZARD OVA is an acceptable way to spend 27 minutes; it's kinda like a futuristic Pokemon, with CGI critters that are OK. Don't know if they are going to make a series of this.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2019
Most of the shows this quarter are dongs, so I haven't been watching much.
Cop Craft is 100% 1980's buddy cop. Kei's partner (who died in the first episode) was named "Rick Fury" which brought a chuckle to me. Also a Jack Bower was in a cellphone shot. The only real problem with the series is the animation, which is 100% QUALITY. Missing frames, crap fight scenes, random things disappearing and reappearing, Hands moving through objects. But you can forgive the animation because the atmosphere and general storyline is pretty solid.
Totally NOT watching Okaa-san Online. I'm not. It's just not a thing I'm watching at all.
Kimetsu no Yaiba seems to be a shonen power-up anime but... I mean, Nezuko. Come on. You can't compete with that.
Next Quarter:
Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld - I mean, you know, stuff and things. Also the alicization arc ...season 3? wasn't bad (even considering that Alice was totally NOT Saber).
PSYCHO-PASS 3 - I mean, fuck. This series is dank as fuck.
Fairy Gone 2 - It was hard getting into the first season of this. They'd create rules for things and then immediately break those rules like it was no big deal. Also shitty CG. I'll give S2 a shot... I guess.
Rewatching:
Ueno-san wa Bukiyou - God I love this show.
Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon - Loved it, want more, but S2 is literally FIRE. As in KyoAni fire.
Yagate Kimi ni Naru - Yuuuuuriiii aaaaas fuuuuuck. Great animation and background scenes. I have no idea why they put so much grain detail on the tables and walls, but god damn if it doesn't look pretty. Also chicks making out makes my penis the big penis.
I'm KINDA down for a rewatch of Violet Evergarden but they didn't get into the fact that she's a fucking demigoddess of war (and a complete sadist at that) it's just fucking autism with pretty animation.
