The best stories end with "....and they lived happily ever after."
Sometimes they end with a “bang.”

Wouldn't living happily ever after eventually drive you insane?

And now I'm imagining a scene...

Piro and Kimiko at Lockart offices in the evening.

Kimiko just finished recording, Piro idles a bit before or after a difficult drawing.

There is no one else in the entire building, so they start 'making out' (her sitting on his lap and smooching mostly, with the romantic kind of kissing and embraces, there are after all other glass walled buildings and some of them may have NPC cameras pointed at them, so no porn possible, wandering hands are being put in their rightful places on her back and not any lower).

There is a slight disturbance with the papers on his desk, like a wind blows all the sheets on the floor, and when Piro opens his eyes, he sees Miho looking sheepish and red on her face, looking to a different direction than Yakugashi sitting beside her on the other side of his desk, with a teenager 'disgusting' face and the Ninjagrrl and Junpei standing cross-armed behind them.

Piro : 'GAH!'
Kimiko (turns around, with the cute frenetic panic expression) : '<GAH!>', rises slowly, tidies up her top and gets off his lap, and sits beside him, with arms crossed, eying the new guests. He puts his glasses back on.

Piro looking official : 'What do you want?'
Yakugashi : '<Can we speak in Japanese please ?>'
Piro : '<OK, what do you want then ?>'

(will probably add more when I actually see today's comic ;) )
continued...

Yakugashi (says nothing, just pulls a script out of her bag and puts it in front of Piro on the desk)
Piro (reluctantly opens, reads, with Kimiko peeking over his shoulder); Piro's eyes get bigger with every page, Kimiko's expression is sort-of normal)
Piro (finished reading, visibly startled), looks at Kimiko into her eyes, then back at Miho who still looks sideways, then back at Kimiko - "<Did you know about this?>"
Kimiko : "<This is how the script looked before I was hired... >"
Miho (to Yakugashi, angrily) : "<See I told you, even you can't do anything!>"
Yakugashi (sad fox expression) : "<Why?>"
Kimiko (looks at Piro, then at Miho, then at Yakugashi again) "<Because, she's not the protagonist here...>" (takes out laptop, tack-tacks to the Sight game page, brings up the picture of the protagonist, turns around to show to Yakugashi) "<... he is. This is not just her own story, it never was.>"
Piro : "<But the ending is now different too, good thing Kimiko-san was able to persuade the script committee to change it... I just did not know why she was so insisting... now I know...>" - looks at Yakugashi, then at Miho - "< I know you're tired of hiding, but just wait till the game is released, we're not going to let you die again...>" - looks at Kimiko, smiles, she smiles back - "<after all the trouble we went through to save you...>" - Kimiko kisses him, and the romantic embracing starts again;
Camera turns back at where the guests were sitting and standing, but there is nothing but the view of the rest of the office and the 'magic petals falling down'.

(if you're startled at the romanticism of the cuddling scene, remember that Kimiko and Piro are already past location hunting...)

Yaku is an allie of Miho now despite her anger. The anger is directed at the "stupid, broken story" and not Miho. If you do not understand that then you're only confirming my suspicion that you are simply willfully ignorant in your condemnation of Miho and worth no other consideration

but then on last panel, Yakugashi says she's 'tired of mum being sad about you!' with what seems like anger aimed at Miho...

Yakugashi's ears and tail flicking and swishing around are just adorable. And they look so soft and fluffy! I would pet her until she stabbed me with a pencil to get me to stop.

Yaku seems to be going Silvertongue on Miho ... wonder how that turns out.
I suspect Miho will stop her pretty soon.

Now we know more about how much Miho has regarded Yakugashi... aware of her presence, but only as an acquaintance, related to Mugi. (*sigh* But that can also be very much MegaTokyo. It might be strange if Miho payed too much attention to Mugi's daughter.)

Yakugashi has has used some courage and measure of youthful righteousness, to call-in the favor of her mother's Ninja and arrive here in the presence of Miho. Face-to-face with the strange & powerful woman. Yaku must believe in the power of the stories that she has heard (or been inside?). Has she heard dark folk-tales? The little fox approaching the powerful & suffering old-one? (That often is not a happy story in the short-scamper.) We will probably be able to figure out some of the stories that Yaku has heard in her life, from the questions that Yaku wishes to ask Miho.

Yaku is also here to interview Miho. She's not just writing her version of Miho's new story. She knows she has to take notes to do this righteous. A foxgirl brings a notepad and a click-pen to write down the answers she gets to her innocent questions about what Story Miho wants to live....

Nice, earlier Miho might be pondering the family member having just suggested a reset might fix things, and being questioned if that's what she really wants, and it appears surprising, but of course involves being killed. And boom the potential perceived danger has vanished. Is gone, superseded by a new player suggesting new things. And Miho just slid into it as if nothing has happened and nothing is unusual.

Here Yaku is focused on the aspect of her mother being sad. Which might outwardly be a fairly shallow concern to most anyone else, including her mother, who might even disagree she's sad. But to Yaku, that is the most important thing of them all regardless. This idea of how to 'fix the sad', that could be quite insightful. A unique solution type which might succeed. Instead of being as effective as everything else that hasn't apparently worked.

Somebody being upset, about another somebody being sad, about the character, in a broken story; seems still directed at the broken story. The broken story causing things to happen to be sad about, not the character caught in it. Although certainly, given how people seem to often change their attitude and actions as they're more influenced, get more folded in, it might not be fully wise to count on the direction remaining constant or predictable.

What I wonder is if the idea ninjagirl could kill Miho and that the story would just reset and fix itself, is like the one where a young magicalgirl thinks she can show everyone how nice Miho really is, fix what she considers unfair things from the past. And is also like how a young foxgirl thinks repairing things is just as easily done as she herself writing or drawing a new story to fix the old ones. Which also seems somewhat reminiscent of the Otaku Logic Power solution, 'hey if the fans are no good just get new ones, problem solved'.

Then there's the characters in stories, how separable might those things be, depending on both. Such as characters based upon aspects of a given MG who is not really like that herself, but instead the stronger faster flashier, more like what fans expect from their entertainment. That role or portrayal or even story might get a bit of spice added from an Analogue and or by their performer. Or perhaps those types of stories don't need or get an Analogue, or the characters themselves aren't part of the process. Bits of the truth into a character who is shoved into a story that may or may not have anyone but regular creators involved.

Then there are the real MG, who should probably stay low key. Ostensibly they aren't an Erika playing a Moeko, they are a Meimi being herself stealing things, not dressing up performing skits herself as herself. It would be nice if we knew the details of Miho and Meimi in the past. What happened. Did they go take over a game world together, did it reform a magical thief into a productive MG member of society, did it include getting Masamichi and Meimi together. Was it like how we hear Miho interacted with Junko, like what we mostly saw interacting with Ping. Was it like what happened when Erika quit. Such details might help decide some things, but for now we must do without.

In any case it will be interesting to see what happens. Maybe even if somebody can write a new story for the real thing and fix what's wrong, remove the need to expire, take away the termination order, and whatever else it might do. Although whatever happens, it once again appears there's no safe place to hide Miho from more things happening.

No kidding. Poor Miho. So much for her “pause,” if Yakugashi is somehow able to manipulate her story after all (forgot about Yaku wielding the power of twintails).

Since Yaku doesn't really know Piro, does this mean he now gets written out of her story entirely?

I sincerely doubt Miho was in any danger. You don't talk like that to someone if you really plan to kill them. Given the part where ninjagirl says ow I doubt Miho was all that convinced she was in any trouble either because it seemed more like a "Quit teasing me! You aren't funny!" whack she gave ninjagirl then the sort of blow she'd deliver if she were really all that scared. ^_^
You're probably right that Miho wasn't in actual danger, but she looked a little nervous to me :) At any rate, Yaku definitely intends to save the day by fixing Miho's stupid story, without actually caring about Miho. Hilarious.

What Yaku doesn't realize is that her mother loves Miho *because* Miho's story makes her sad. If the story didn't make her feel sad, then Miho would probably not be a part of Mugi's life.

Nice idea of Yakugashi. But I’m wondering: when she walked in, she didn’t seem to be aimed at Miho at all — walked straight past her, if I’m not mistaken.
Miho said ‘Wait…’ — and only at that point did Yakugashi pay Miho any attention at all.

Where was Yaku going before Miho (rather easily) got her to turn aside and flop down, like… almost exasperated?
To me the last few panels seem like an improvised, pre-meditated but annoyed excursion from Yaku’s original intent.

But… what was her original intent?

=?

I think you're mistaken here :)

panel 1 : Yaku looks at Miho, we can't see her face expression ( the ears though, seem to express anger)
panel 2 : Yaku marches in, trots around the little table, not looking at Miho, but we can see she's angry. Miho recognizes her.
panel 3 : Yaku sits down in front of Miho, her face still angry. Miho tries to start up a conversation, break the ice. This game continues through panel 4 and 5 too, until panel 6, 7 and 8, where Yaku explains what it is she's up to.

I think Yaku had the intention of sitting in front of Miho by the table since panel 1. Looks like she's sort of an introvert teen too, expresses her feelings more with body language than words.

I only hope, that during the course of the conversation, Miho won't use the ominous 'i'd rather die than do that' :) in front of two (or more) Ninjas :J

Ah, the clear objectives of youth!

I see no change in intent. She was just negotiating the entrance.

Is she right or left handed? She rummages and clicks the pen(cil) with her right hand, but then settles down to take notes with her left.

The goal and what potentially might get carried out is wonderfully confusing.

Might be about time he's not a major part of that story. Given that he has jettisoned a large part or most of the past already anyway. Perhaps Yaku is onto something accidentally here as a side effect, if she's not just portraying the seemingly usual "great idea!" sort of thing. Although it could also be it's not a side effect but a resolution. In the sense of "the story's plan" for ending that story? Without killing Miho in the consciousness of everyone needing that? Superb.

So far it's mostly seemed nobody's been able to do much of anything they weren't allowed to believe possible first or tried to do even if they knew better. Yet also it might be surprising if there was nothing there, if you're always fitting at least somewhat into the part for at least one participant. Not that such things are difficult to locate or that we would necessarily be able to tell the difference if it isn't true, but which one example of both of those might well be Yuki during the events at Megagamers around subtle language . Another could be (somewhat) the sparring with Dom between the diner and CoE around plays to hurt .

I'm not so sure about that. Mugi seems more like a personal friend than the horde in general. Although she's certainly obsessed, calling Miho "Miho-sama".

It seems that ninjagirl thinks killing Miho is possible though. About subtle language, I've wondered how long it was that Yuki was moving fast without realizing she was a magical girl. Especially since her brother put something squishy in her chair later, when Erica and Largo were having dinner at her place. Maybe brothers are just fast on the uptake though. Which diner are you talking about in plays to hurt? Miho or Kimiko?

Yuuji didn’t put anything on Yuki’s chair during that dinner. I don’t think he even noticed she was gone. Yuki initially suspects her brother, but then she sees her mom looking at her.

Meimi is the one who snuck some food on the chair while Yuki was dashing back and forth, as a way of telling her to stay put while she negotiated the use of Largo’s cell phone. Look at Meimi’s expression when Yuki makes eye contact with her, and Yuki’s flustered response.

I don’t really understand how so many readers continue to misinterpret this.

Miho. (At Megagamers ostensibly to confront Piro, interacts with Yuki Piro Ping Erika & otaku.) The other, between the 'diner rescue' and the CoE, with Dom Kimiko & Piro on phone. The examples of what she's doing often includes either Piro or Largo (even if only indirectly) but not always, the only constants are Miho and the meta. Miho in some role for some participant, it would be more surprising if she trivialized suspected danger, had no reactions at all. Was not at least somewhat believable to someone in what was going on at the time. Playing multiple roles for multiple people's expectations and then their reactions individual and or group. So then, seeming nervous at appropriate times about the ninja she's interacting with probably should be expected. Regardless of how really real or not it is, or so we've heard tell about this Tohya person.

Yep. The flow is 1193 panel 8 1195 panel 1 Yuki notices, 1195 panel 2 glaring at Yuuji, 3 looks at Meimi, 4 Meimi looks back, 5 looking sheepish, 6 Meimi changes subject.

I'm not very good at subtle byplay :P When Yuki squishes on the food, Yuuji's the only other person in the panel. It didn't occur to me that might be something her mom would do! It's not until the next page that you have the staring blushing interaction, separated by a non-story page. I didn't even realize Largo gave his phone to Yuki on purpose until the second or third time I read through the comic. I guess I fail as a Megatokyo otaku.

Regardless, I'm not quite sure that Yuki catching Miho was the first time she'd moved fast, which I think was part of what iffy was talking about? Maybe? Or maybe not.
