Largo's never displayed the kind of ego that had trouble admitting ignorance. I think it's possible or even likely that from his perspective he's just sharing learned information here. This requires a pretty big leap of faith about what constitutes 'reference material' but Largo's odd enough that it's not too unreasonable within the constraints of the MT world. He discussed it with Erika, and is now presenting his findings to Piro. Nobody else in the room understands English, so he's not giving Kimiko or Megumi embarrassing information. After all, if he doesn't understand the concept of 'Porn', why should he not discuss it openly?

Now, Erika is absolutely teasing him. Which isn't terribly out of character with her friends. The way she's draped over Largo, her overall body language, and the blush in panel six...those are out of character. In fact, I would go so far as to say they are the first possible evidence of influence by Moeko on Erika. So how much influence is she having?

That's a discussion I think I'll let Teddy start.
I don't have the highest opinion of Largo's intelligence, though I'd give him a lot of credit for intuitive cunning. But I don't think he's incapable* of realizing it's over the line to discuss his opinion of Piro's porn, sexual preferences, experience, etc at length in front of the girl he knows Piro wants to get with (with Erika amplifying** it). The closest similar behavior that I can remember is back in 620... but it was a lot more tame, and despite Piro's distress/anger being less obvious than it is now, he didn't continue playing oblivious (viz 621).

* - Though "whether he has" is still a fair question.

** - Intriguing point about Erika's behavior, btw. It does seem a bit evocative of "blundering magical girl who means well", shaded with "then got trapped in her body with no one to talk to for years and lost her internal censor for risqué subjects".

Wrt Kimiko and Megumi presumably not understanding -- it's true, afawk they don't know English. But more gets communicated in conversation than just the literal meaning of words‡, which is one of the reasons it's generally considered incredibly rude to trash-talk someone in a language you think they won't understand. Aside from the condescension, it's really unlikely they won't pick up on nuances‡‡ if not the gist.

‡ - I have my doubts about the supposed 70% figure conveyed through body language and vocal tone, but it's significant.

‡‡ - For example, it's a fair guess they know that whatever is being said is flippant and has Piro furious. Which would be bad enough... but to boot the last comic ended with Megumi telling Largo to stop creeping on her, Largo counting up, and Erika insinuating they came in on a Piro-Kimiko-Megumi threesome in progress. So they may be headed toward a heck of a misunderstanding with a 9-tailed kitsune.

Edit: Swapped footnote symbols and a minor reword

And I now refer to her as Moerika... suspiciously. For reasons... GOOD reasons.

I believe that you've expressed that opinion earlier in this thread.

Well, you know how refrigeratoritis is the semi-pathological condition of needing to check the refrigerator to see if food you like has magically appeared since the last time you checked an hour ago (and you haven't gone to the store)?

And how spoiledfooditis makes you open the half-used container of hummus and sniff it, even though you can see things growing on it (just to reassure yourself that you really don't want it)? And in advanced cases, the sufferer may make others sniff it so they can be disgusted too?

The combined condition of spoileratoritis forces you to repeatedly come back to something you already know you hate, just to make sure you still hate it, and stick it under everyone's nose so they know too. A sadly common condition, which come to think of it probably explains why I keep revisiting Twitter.°

Part of what makes Largo such a dangerous opponent is his utter lack of interest in social norms and customs. If you do something designed to frighten a crowd of ordinary people, Largo won't be affected by the crowd's fear at all. This can be useful and certainly can be dangerous. This is why Masamichi gave him that TPCD badge, and took it away again. Masamichi is okay with having a loose cannon around that he can predict. It makes me wonder about his childhood. Largo doesn't act like someone brought up in a normal environment; somewhere in isolation where the fight for survival required direct action seems more likely. That, or he was homeschooled and spent every minute online with zero supervision.

Yes. A hysterically funny misunderstanding. Piro's head may explode when he figures it out.

Hm, just noticing that Largo's broken nose has healed amazingly quickly. In fact, in panel 3, he looks almost too pretty compared to how he's usually drawn.
What do you mean, "quickly?" It happened seven years ago. ( https://megatokyo.com/strip/1396 )

No, it happened just yesterday (in comic time), in [ 1443 ]. He was last seen with a bandaged nose in [ 1585 ]

Then he spent the night with Erika....
