In Japan, it is quite common for children to call any unrelated middle aged person "aunt" or "uncle", and any elderly person "grandmother" or "grandfather". Whether or not Fred is using this bit of trivia to confuse the issue, I can not say.darrin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 11:27 am(The fact that many cultures expect children to refer to non-related adults like friends of the family as "aunt" and "uncle" should be obvious enough not to need stating, and should make it quite clear that "not completely meaningless" still doesn't give much ground yet for sussing out actual relationships. This was precisely my point when I mentioned the previous forum debate on the issue, and how it didn't gain much useful ground.)

I suspected as much (from manga/anime scenes, albeit in English translation ), and indeed had that in mind when I wrote that; thanks for confirming.
Yeah, anyone expecting the waters to conveniently unmuddy themselves anytime soon is in the wrong webcomic IMO.Whether or not Fred is using this bit of trivia to confuse the issue, I can not say.

I, Teddy Werebear, volunteer as romantic tribute to stop Megs from destroying the world. I think I am able to stuff her genie back in the box.
What?

Nice try, Teddy, but I already staked out a claim a couple of years ago, back in the discussion about [1526].Teddy-Werebear wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 12:11 pmI, Teddy Werebear, volunteer as romantic tribute to stop Megs from destroying the world. I think I am able to stuff her genie back in the box.

There's no stuffing the genie back in the bottle, but I think just having a (relatively) sane BF would be highly beneficial to the wellbeing of MT. And, Bonus! I can hunt Zillas!
Re: [1586] Chapter 13 - Redemption
If there is anyone on this forum that knows the real dangers of having a nine tail kistune as a GF, it's me. Consider that a 1 tail (who doesn't have any magical abilities) can rip a man's head off if she gets angry enough, a nine tail could not only rip you limb from limb, but also deposit each dismembered part into separate dimensions. Megumi has been one of my favorite characters since I started reading MegaTokyo and would have considered her GF material until I found out her true nature. Now I just cower in fear. Mugi, OTOH, is still an option.

Mugi and Ashe, relatively safe. Yakugashi....uh, well teen boys are brave and resilient..... All Megumi wants in life is love and affection and tail brushing and skritches...and as maldrul said...different dimensions...and worse..all the parts would have a mystical connection and YOU'D STILL BE ALIVE .....
