I also came over just to lurk.
It's about time someone updated - babysitting old code must be an ugly waste of time...

Some of the secrets to keeping the old forum running died with Cortana, but really I think the size of the posts database was well past the point of what the hardware and/or software could easily handle.

I'm member # 69 now. Ahhh yiss.

I made a greasemonkey script that moves the user portfolios to the left, makes the forum use the entire browser width, moves the link to MT on the forums navigation, and removes signatures. Cause I hates them forevers.
Only tested in Firefox.
Seems to work in Chrome with Tampermonkey with one minor issue: in post mode, the user info on the left disappears (still takes space, but is blank).
Edit: the second .postbody width is what is causing it, of course (now that I actually look at it).
I found that changing the second style change in the "// Profiles belong on the left!" section to:

Code: Select all

GM_addStyle ( " !.topicreview .post .postbody { float: right; width: calc(100% - 230px);}" );
fixed it.

Unfashionably late, as usual. But wow.

Is Cracky still around? I feel like I rediscover this place every year or so.
Nope, Omo, Char, Ray, Chemi and me seem to be the only survivors from the old regime with some of us getting promotions. New on board are Klange, DM, paarfi and Kalium

EDIT: Say, DM, aren't I an "Old Fart" by definition?
As Keith Richards said when asked if he wears boxers or briefs:
"Depends."

How long has it been since you were trapped in a bottle? :?
You know how when you do laundry, you have that one sock left that doesn't match any of the others? That's me.

Dang, I was wondering what was going on with the forums. I was a little scared for awhile.

(Been frequenting this website for almost a decade, and I plan on getting my boyfriend into the comic as well. I freaking love this place.)

I'm glad for the revamp, and this will take some getting used to. I'm just glad the old forums are still in an archive. The members' banter is often quite hilarious.

Made an account years ago, but hardly used it. I'll try to be around more.

The "contact" link in the avatar panes is borked. It just links to the current thread.

It's working for me in both Chrome and in Edge. You click the little word-bubble thing, and a little pop-over appears. Click that and it takes you to the page to send them a PM.

I'm using Firefox under Ubuntu. The rollover help text says "contact <z>", but you can't click it because it is displaced away from the "speech bubble", and disappears when you try to get to it. The bubble itself has an associated link, but that leads back to the current thread.

I'm still finding it weird that it defaults the avatars to the right when I'm so used to them being on the left, still it's shinier which is always a plus.

New look, new stuff to grind up again eh Morokiane? ;)

Osu~
It's been a while (since cort's death, probably). Just last weekend, I stumbled on some stories I wrote when I played pbem in the RP section, recalled the MTF and wondered whether they were still up and active.
So, voilà.

Just browsing the new forums a bit, I see that there are still some names I know (not many, though), part of the old guard is still here (again, not many) and Megatokyo doesn't seem much different from when I last came (the comics' story doesn't seem to have moved much, there's still no VN and omo is still pretty much animating the AMC forum). No more DSVN, though. ; _ ;

Oh well, all in all, it was just to say hello~

P.S. Oh, and I lost both my Azifu~ avatar and .sig, as well as my lovely links to Kotonoha's wonderful laugh~ T_T

Clannad is on Steam now. DSVN mission accomplished. No more need for it. :V

So, hi guys,

Well, I may come back from time to time, though I guess it was more a "hi, it's been a while, how are you all doing?" post than anything more.
My only contact with a former MTF person was two years ago when I met with Kaki and she gave me news from Crack as well... ;)

Hi Olf! Glad to see you post.
Oh Crack- I think if it weren't for him I'd have never made it out of the art forums and into MTC. I became addicted to those inflamatory arguments.

I met up with Animal quite a few times 1-2 years ago myself. It was really nice.

While it's a little sad to see post counts evaporate, on the bright side, it looks like our account disciplinary warnings have gone with them. Man! I had one lingering citation from 2005. It's so nice to not see a little yellow box anymore!
