I found this song sung by Chihaya Kisaragi (Asami Imai) about 5 years ago (on an old upload that was since deleted), and for years I assumed this was an original Idolmaster song or something. I downloaded it and added it to an Idolmaster playlist and it became one of my favorite songs on the playlist and even rather moving to me. But what I didn't know is this was a cover of the intro song to Air. Tonight I just started watching Air for the first time. When I heard this song in the intro it was very emotional (because it came as a complete surprise and I had no idea I would ever hear this song in an anime). It's so beautiful to me. Here's the Chihaya Kisaragi (Idolmaster) version that I originally heard 5 years ago (a new/re-upload):

One of the best tunes I have ever heard was the main theme for one of the best Sci Fi anime that I have ever seen. The name of the show is "Freedom" and if you have not had a chance to watch it, I strongly suggest you give it a whirl. In my opinion the three best Sci Fi anime of all time are "Cowboy Bebop", "Planetes" and "Freedom". Two of those have some of the best music ever heard in anime. Hmmm, coincidence....I think not!
