Not too much to see this season; Dress Up Darling, Takagi S3, Demon Slayer, Ranking of Kings, and Akebi's Sailor Uniform, that's it. Dropped Brisco, it looked really cool at first, but the writing and characters were too meh. Never was an AOT fan, so continuing that tradition.

There's a new manga with a rakugo theme on Viz now called Akane-banashi. It's not bad.

86 couldn't have had a better ending. Wild onions in Kentucky are strong this year, I think. ;)

I'm not too thrilled by the way that Ranking of Kings ended, with the Daida/Manjaro thing.

Takagi S3 ended well, with everything but the confession. Perhaps there will be one(or two) in the movie?

Cloverworks' adaptation of My Dress-up Darling was absolutely platinum, a top tier job of a manga I already enjoy very much. Easily best show of the season for me.

Akebi's Sailor Uniform was peak CGDCT; no unnecessary drama, just a bunch of middle school girls riffing off the force that was Akebi.

Witchcraft Works anime (2014), a comedy in which the usual male/female roles are reversed and the witch is constantly saving her boyfriend's butt. I was curious about my friend's comment that he didn't fully understand the plot and am re-watching it. I also found the original is a manga (March 2010 to February 2022}. So the animators had to fabricate an ending! I've ordered vol. 15, the last US one out (April 2021). The crazy timing of anime!

This was a goofy plot pretending to be subtle and profound.

Trying to get S2 of Spice and Wolf finished before the new season starts, but not sure if I'm going to make it. Still failing to see what the more veteran weebs saw in Holo; she's solid, but nowhere near an S class Best Girl/waifu.

New season! Giving Aharen 3. Sure, Aharen is cute, but cute can only take a show so far. Also wish Raidou wasn't as dumb as a brick.

Also giving Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road 3. I like the premise, but the execution is meh so far.

How an exiled Hero Rebuilt the Demon's Army is off to a generic start, giving this one 3 also.

Read the oneshot by Fujimoto called Goodbye, Eri. It was Ok, but a little predictable. I'm sure Eri would agree..... :' )

After having a sparse four shows to keep last season, currently I'm at 13, with A Couple of Cuckoos yet to start. First impressions:

Potential All Timer Tier:

Spy x Family: An incredible adaptation of an already excellent work. Awesome.
Love is War S3: 2nd ep was back to their high standards after a slow 1st ep.

Most excellent so far:

Paripi Koumei: Wasn't planning on watching this(premise was too weird), but a lot of buzz got me to try it, and I'm hooked. Is saying this is the best PA since Shirobako too hot of a take?
Summertime Render: This is going to be a good one, I can feel it.

Pretty good:

Komi S2: At least she's talking a little more.... ;)
Deaimon: The execution may be a little off some times, but you can't deny the large beating heart this show has.
Bookworm S3: Myne isn't a little brat(so far), so that's a good thing.

Decent:

Shield Hero S2: This one has a weird vibe to it, Naofumi as a hard character to get behind.
Shikimori: As long as this show doesn't remain a one joke anime, it will be OK.
Aharen: It's cute, but very simple.
The Executioner and Her Way of Life The fight scenes are pretty good, but the story and characters are meh.

Meh:

I'm Quitting Heroing: Not sure where this show is going, is it a fantasy version of Japanese business commentary, or what?

Probably drop:

In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki Most of this show is pretty cringe. Not feeling it at all.

Went ahead and dropped Kunoichi Tsubaki . Premise is weird, and most of the girls are forgettable.

Couple of Cuckoos is OK, don't see it doing anything amazing(why it's 24 eps, who knows?).

Heard that the manga Otonari ni Ginga (A Galaxy Next Door) was getting an anime adaptation next year. Seeing it was done by Amagakure Gido(Sweetness and Lightning) I scrounged up the 8 translated chapters online, and the wholesomeness of this manga of off the charts! Will be watching it when it comes out, for sure!

Some updates:

Bookworm S3 finished strong, after flopping around most of the season. Next season promises to be very interesting!

Am now reading Megami no Café Terrace; A lot of ecchi and fanservice, MC can be a dickhead, I like the girls though. Yeah, it's a harem....

I heard Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia was going to get an anime; the PV interested me, so I gave the manga a shot. It's really, really good. I just hope it doesn't do a Your Lie in April on me, or I'll be heartbroken and pissed.

It's been a while since I found something interesting to mention from the bootlegs ;)

But the
It Looks Like My Son Has Been Reincarnated into Another World
by Kanemoto - Shibata Hikari just made it where I read them, and, is probably.... Not going to be ' Big in Japan' ;)

No fan service to speak of. Even though the female looks pretty good for being 35...
At start it looks as if it is a romance, but then it can't be, if one is conservative in these matters ;)
There is some glossed over school bullying of otaku.
It has comedy elements but then it's mostly an internal monologue of the protagonist.
Most if not, the female protagonist and her husband (which isn't the actual protagonist) and their friends, look kinda like a parody of Hori and Miyamura and their clique, 17 years later... And how people can change.

There's plenty of other tropes, like, you know, otaku being very passionate about their subjects... And there was the 'catching a cold' one but subverted.

But it's something else in the sea of trash... Looks like hope... that looks like not every author of a mostly realistically drawn manga is insane or perverted.
(did I mention the art is something that looks nice? It does.)
I'm looking forward to reading more of it. Hopefully they won't spoil it...

Seeing news of a full-color series of books of select chapters of "Ms Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" makes me wonder if this is the first glimpse of robo-coloring to hit the market. Surely if movies can be auto-colored, manga can be too. I was irritated to see Amazon's lousy search engine didn't find the manga when I typed "full color" in the manga title instead of just "color". Isn't "Kobayashi" enough to generate 1000 hits all by itself? I'm rereading the first volume of the YKK manga series to be printed in the USA - only took 25 years to get here. Hoping the publishers will be able to complete the whole series.

I found I no longer cared ~ ep 17 of Cuckoos.
