Fred posted the comic to his Patreon. He'll post it to the main site and elsewhere probably tomorrow.

Wow.

Just when I thought the MT universe wasn't freaky enough, we get another Miho Meta Moment. This is probably the biggest paradigm shift since Cracky was proven wrong.

Fred, this is a hell of a time to introduce a story aspect that will clearly need quite a bit of unpacking. I do hope you have the time and energy to see this through.

Well, isn't this interesting.

This is Miho's bedroom from when she was dying in her original life [1405], maybe? It doesn't feel like a flashback though. Miho's use of language was different when told her origin story before, but this little girl's tone is more modern.

Is the little girl yelling at Miho, and "that girl" is Yaku? Or is she yelling at the story, and "that girl" is Miho? Who is this little girl with the magic wand and stuffed werebear?

Not that I've seen the strip yet, but given the ambiguities people are mentioning, I am wondering if something is going on like the Doctor Who "Hell Bent" episode: in the milliseconds before impending demise, he would "stop" to imagine himself safe in the TARDIS with plenty of time to think of a clever way to avoid the demise. When the strain threatened to be too great ("Can't I just rest...") he further imagined Clara egging him on, demanding to know how he was planning to "WIN"...

Other similar examples would be the "Frame of Mind" ST:TNG episode, or "Changeling" from Stargate SG1. Both involve the protagonist unconscious or near death, imagining themselves in a dream-like struggle they don't fully understand, while additionally imagining their friends appearing to insist they keep struggling despite the confusion.

These are all SF examples, and of course MegaTokyo isn't really an SF work; but I don't think the concept itself is intrinsically SF (I'm sure it shows up in other genres I'm just not aware of ).

Miho, how are you going to win?

I'm pretty sure that this it "place" where Miho always finds herself before awakening in the ASF. I can now understand why a shotgun blast to the head or immolation in the blast of a spider tanks gun held no fear for her. That would be relatively quicker

And yes, this is extremely disturbing and dark

I love it

This is a hell of a time for bringing Miho's Metaverse to the fold. It's interesting at least. So I can only hope that Fredrin can pull this off.
Either way, it seems that poor Miho was always was subjected to isolation. :(

Well... I am in favor of punishing the Miho... beat the Miho right out of her?
Punishment will probably not be of a corporal nature... maybe not even corporeal...

I AM MOST CERTAINLY NOT STUFFED...
I could definitely eat!
You have once again failed to realize that werebears are also chowhounds!!

It is a measure of how rarely I post these days, that I always seem to need to register a new account (under the same name) to do it...

That said, this is going to be awesome. I'm more excited to see what's next than I have been since the beer garden.

O.M.G. It's. The. Faeries. Blood. Represented. By. The. Little. GIRL...

Or it's Mugi before she let her tails down and ears out.

Or it's Miho's conscience. Long time she has not seen her...

Plot twist- it's all in Miho's head? Miho's conscience is trapped inside Miho, she can't go out like other field operatives... and can only see Miho in the near death situations?

Thank you Fred, for the page!

That would make some sense. You'd think there is some reason for Miho being Irish, other than explaining her good English skillz. The Fae could help explain how this all started.

Or it's Miho's conscience.
That's a possibility too. Miho certainly has enough self-loathing for her conscience to treat her like that.

AFAIK Miho has exactly zero self loathing. Being stuck in a bind death loop may be pretty awful but that's not going to affect self esteem

The girl is speaking in (assumedly) Japanese, so maybe a dark MG? (As in the head of her "clan") Need a 3000 word Iffy explanation here..... :?

I wasn't the only one to think of Teddy-Werebear there then... and I missed the fact that creepy wand girl spoke in Japanese, or at least a foreign (at least to us) language. Until that was pointed out I was of the opinion that this was a flashback. It might still be... if the language is something like Gaelic rather than Japanese. And yes, this does need further exposition...

Y'all want to know something funny? Fred didn't know who the little girl was either, that is until he started drawing her.....

The man has a really creepy headspace...

Exits stage left, pursued by a bear.

That is just a little girls stuffed toy. Honestly people, you really do not want anyone being written into the strip, not even TWB

Not directly perhaps. But a few dozen or so rounds of "people who love her die in her story" would be enough to get anybody down.

Seeing the comic I am going to continue leaning toward the "Hell Bent" Miho-internal-monologue-while-on-the-brink of death thingy. (Holy cow I just realized I forgot one of my favorite examples, the "Sting" episode from Futurama.) I'm assuming "that girl" is referring to Yakugashi, if so that would rule out a simple flashback.

So... is the little girl mini-Miho (or conscience or whathaveyou), or mini-Meimi (seems a bit more sharp-tongued than Meimi, but we've only seen the current Meimi, perhaps she has mellowed :P), or mini-somebody-else...

EDIT:
Hmm, mini-Nurse Angel Ririka? Known to have carried a wand (ok, "baton") at some point in the past; ranks high in the "only one who can save her now" list (i.e. from multiple medical issues atm) regardless of whether this is all happening in Miho's head, or something stranger; and -- at least if the anime on which the MegaTokyo character is claimed to be based is any guide -- was capable of being quite the smart-mouth when the occasion called for it.

See, I told you he was totally copying Doctor Who here; "bitches stay in the (TARDIS) kitchen", Patrick Troughton was totally always saying that.

After giving a day for this comic to percolate in my brain, it seems that this is the pre-nospital area. Also, according to the DMGIC, (Dark Magical In Charge) there's "bodies" assigned to the "Soul of Miho", apparently all of them flawed, as the original was.

I think the Original Miho signed a pact with the DMGIC back after the pirate crew was hanged to get her out of her pre-arranged marriage, and to exact revenge for what was done to her and the pirates, for a price, of course.
