Nice that Ninjabaa is personally ok with the ship-of-the-month. There are obviously other issues there still, but it's a start.
Miho looks pretty fast there. I think Ninjabaa seriously underestimated her, but we'll see. It would be kind of a downer if Miho's heroic rescue just ended with Ninjabaa grabbing her by the ear and marching her back to the Foxhole.

Miho is in banshee mode, it's entirely possible that someone is going to die
Re: [1533] But no one else would be
I really want Ninjabaa to absolutely crush Miho here. Nothing like a good dose of humility.

Go go Miho!
I don't care about extraneous issues like how I feel about Miho in other aspects, etc.
All I care about is that there is one terrified tween who needs to be rescued. I don't care what kind of grudge Grandma Ninja has against Grandma Kitsune, kidnapping children is not an acceptable tactic.

Gotta go with Sackett. This really was Miho's only option, given what she knew. As a bonus: Irish justice, swift and simple as taught by merchant seamen.

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
Couple of takeaways, Ninjabaa doesn't want Junpei showing up because "that would be bad" and yet in the middle of a rather insulting monologue she "boops" Yaku on her nose and compliments Mugi as being a real cutie.
Everyone focuses on Miho's tragic death but that death is tragic because her life up till that is the girl adventurer. She was picked up out of the sea by a pirate ship and subsequently charmed the captain and took over.
She is not to be trifled with and I believe Ninjabaa has made what for her is a very rare mistake in judgement

Eh, I'm over Miho not taking responsibility for her own situation. She deserves a beatdown.Invisigoth wrote: ↑Thu Aug 23, 2018 9:29 pmShe is not to be trifled with and I believe Ninjabaa has made what for her is a very rare mistake in judgement

She can't take responsibility for her situation. Until now she's had no real agency outside of adopting fake persona until she dies again. There's not even theoretical free will for Miho until Piro broke her story

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
So Miho used the Justified Rage powerup to recover from the operation wound(s) enough to gain SuperSpeed, beat her escort (5 ninjas!) (or it is fueled with Rage again) and come back to Yaku's apprehension place... Looks like Ninja Grandmama may or may not be fast enough to tell us the Sawatari Grandma story ... before getting beaten.
Still wondering, who plays the Ninja Grandmama character hmm? Same person who controls the Stability forces (Masamichi-san?)

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
Okay, Fred. Thank you very much — that was very gratifying.
Haha, at first I thought it was Yaku jumping SuperGran in the last panel (the string of hair mistaken for the gag).
Cornered vixen Jump of Despair…
Anyway. Nice to see Miho to the rescue.
I can go to work, knowing that she made the right decision there, whatever way it may yet turn out.
And… @SuperGran: yeah, Mugi looks cute — but wait ’till ya meet ’er an’ she finds out what yer did ta her li’l Yaku!!!
Go Fred! Go Miho! Go Mugi!!!

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
Nabiki means Yaku and Mugi no harm as I hoped.
Junpei must be quite strong since Nabiki thought him showing back up at Yaku's call "would be bad!" Perhaps he is a a very worthy successor... so worthy that he could defeat Nabiki and take her place as head of the clan. Perhaps he does not realize what granny Nabiki suspects. That goes a little farther in explaining her ruthless move to settle the accounts with old Foxxy. Nabiki feels that her time on top of the organization is running short.
Trying to jump Nabiki from behind, eh Miho? I am not surprised. I predict she will not hold an advantage for long. Nabiki gonna layeth the smackith down upon Miho so hard it will make Granny Goodness look like a kindly old nanny.

L337 style is immensely strong and immune to nearly any weapon. "Here I come to save the day!"
That means that Tohya Miho's on the way!
Also kind of a "pot calling the kettle black" thing... isn't the whole point of ninja to do sneak attacks from behind / above / below etc.? "Never let the enemy see you first" kind of a thing? Holding Miho to a different standard in such a fight would be pretty one-sided.
At the very least I would quote Will Smith in MiB "Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'".

I would file that one under "sow the wind, reap the whirlwind." If granny ninja wanted a "fair" fight then holding an innocent young girl hostage was a poor way to start it.Teddy-Werebear wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 9:45 amTrying to jump Nabiki from behind, eh Miho? I am not surprised.

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
Above all things, Miho is a Magical Girl. Even if Miho were to lose this fight, Ninja grandma would be counting her lucky stars she is still alive.
Beatdown, not happening. A realistic struggle between two powerful beings with differing power styles and sources, quite possible. Then there is what Fred has planned, which could lead elsewhere too.
Kind of agree with the rage thing. The Ninjas surprised Miho by turning on her, by the time Miho found her balance she was already across town. But it seems she made short work of them.
Miho is a Magical Girl, a thing to be feared. Not unkillable, but very powerful. Ninja's are not weak either as shown in MegaTokyo, but their true strength's have always been stealth and surprise, none of which Grandma ninja has at the moment.
Advantage - Miho

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
From person-ninja leader perspective, fox-people leader had something to do with whole JunpeixKomugiko thing. Both action and result need fixed.
Which somehow fits oddly in the whole Junpei "hiding" Miho in the Ninja compound situation. Probably most nothing that goes on with story around a story-maker is all that surprising though.
So according to she what done it, Yakugashi here is only tied because she's feisty, and only gagged so she can't call Junpei back, maybe. Yet the way that things will get settled with her great grams, is by calling on the phone. Should we call the main switchboard or does she have a direct number?
Calling to work it out makes it seem like not as big of a deal, but Miho is not so easily neutralized. (More correctly, given all we've seen, is not neutralizable.) Seems a bit of a miss in the planning there.
Which the leaders not getting to discuss the situation might not be the best thing for whatever might be going on between the ninja and the foxes. Even though the ninja leader appears some sort of speciesism bigot, a speciesist, or whatever we'd call being biased against human animal hybrids. At least for outward appearances, socially unacceptable oh my. Although literally, if something is part human part animal, it's less that fully human, and technically sub- is correct, but talk about being non diplomatic while talking to a young teenager who is part of the group. (although come on, i'd be okay with it but nobody else would so it can't happen, what nonsense is that these days anyway) Unless that was just some sort of angering situation setup for Miho's "sudden" arrival.
Which IDK what might be odder; knowing Miho was going to show up like that, or being totally unaware she was around. The first puts Enjii into a more active role in the goings on, the second suggests she's not quite a competent or powerful as she's been behaving most of the time. Although given the way she's talked about Junpei and has acted around him, isn't maybe quite either the leader or even his grandmother, but that's just a big guess with nothing but oddness to base it on. (Or maybe she's just scared of what his mom or somebody else may do if they find out she's meddling; we don't really know her place in the hierarchy, except ninja will do things for her, and that she is the kind who would tease Junpei, allegedly.)
The reasons Junpei showing up would be bad in some ways are many. He's on the side of big-picture stability certainly, and a clan war (however that happens over the phone) wouldn't be good. But he's apparently rogue to some extent, and is either way on the other side so to speak. He's also seemingly got a great deal of latitude and some power power and pull in the organization, maybe even more than her, and he might tell her to stop goofing around with her conspiracy theories. Also of course she's probably got it figured out he wants to keep the foxhumans happy, especially the cutie she's okay with herself, and having this girl tied up isn't something he'd let go on, no matter how important it is (or is to Enjii) to fix whatever is wrong. That she thinks is wrong. Also she likely doesn't want to hear any ideas from his perspective, or any facts for that matter.
Which Junpei show up now, bad for grandma ninja, that's all kind of obvious isn't it. Even if she's not grandma. Although that has just probably become the least of her worries anyway, depending on how this goes now with Miho.

No, Miho is NOT a Magical Girl, she's much more dangerous than that. She is an archetype for all heroic girl stories from which Magical Girls derive their powerTarsTarkas wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 11:16 amAbove all things, Miho is a Magical Girl. She's a demi-god at the least and now she's in banshee mode.
This is going to be fun
Re: [1533] But no one else would be
If there is one thing she shouldn't have done, it's Miho's hair.
Re: [1533] But no one else would be
Well, that was fast, I wasn't expecting her to return that quickly. And to be honest I wasn't sure if she was going to pay a visit to the two lovebirds first. Why does Ninjagranny think others wouldn't approve of Junpi and Mugi? And nice that she approves, but calling foxgirls subhuman is more than a bit insulting. So, I don't know if this will turn into an epic battle, or they will talk things out. And somehow I suspect this will serve to reawaken the forum here. Actually, I have a question I meant to ask earlier, but forgot. Why does Ninjagramma think capturing Yaku and threatening Mugi going to give her any leverage over her Great Grams, they left to get away from her?

Find-establish a location for the target
Fix-isolate the target
Finish-close the contract
The Ninja likely have a code of honor that would preclude them assassinating kitsune grams in a temple

1) I don't think Ninjabaa knows the tension between Mugi and the rest of the family.
2) GreatGrandma seems to like Yaku anyway.
3) Even if GreatGrandma didn't like Yaku, she's still not going to lose face by letting Ninjabaa mess with her family, and Ninjabaa knows that.

It will be hilarious if any of the ninja manage to slice off Miho's head... only to have her say "Yeah... that's not gonna do the trick, actually..."
@Fred: when it comes time to make the MegaTokyo anime, you need to have Kari Wahlgren voice Miho. Spare no expense.

Re: [1533] But no one else would be
I think Junpei is loyal to his promise to Yaku to stay with Mugi unless he is summoned by someone greater than Yaku-in-Mugi's-name. To intercept in this scene, in this split second? Who would have called on him to do so — and quicker than Miho's return?Yl33 D4 N00b wrote: ↑Fri Aug 24, 2018 5:56 pmBetcha Miho doesn't lay a finger on her; Junpei will probably step in and intercept.
GranNinja has just cut off all chance of Junpei being summoned to the scene. Even if anyone would call on him to intervene, I bet he would say, "Saaa… No can do. Way of honor, way of l337, way of love, and Mugi daughter compel Junpei stay put. Not mention Junpei heart — and origami."
Besides, if SuperGran can't handle Miho's attack, what makes you think Junpei will be at any rate effective in shielding NinGram from Miho?
Just wondering… He already took a beating from her.
Recent footage seems to imply that *that* was a very mild beating, too…
