Interesting that multiple languages were used in the depicted conversation (Google Translate is your friend). Is this a function of being a deity?

THis webcomic is never going to actually end, is it?
We're never even gonna find out if Piro and Kimiko actually had sex or not.

You missed it, then. Yes, it wasn't shown, but it doesn't need to be shown. Did you miss the episode where they went into a love hotel? (1509 - 1513 and 1588 - 1590))

Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
She probably died of her heart condition, re-spawned, and the locals took exception to that and killed her again.
I imagine the first time it happened in her original home, her parents returned from the funeral only to see her bouncing down the stairs to greet them complaining that the servants had all gone nuts. How they reacted only Fred knows so far. But afterwards she repeated this in new homes with pretty terrible results.
Does anyone have any idea how her re spawn location is decided? For these events in this comic to happen she ether has no control or doesnt yet understand it, else she would try to do it privately. Keep her death secret and re-spawn secretly, so she could just rejoin her life. Minus the pitch fork and torch bearing mobs feeding her to dogs, impaling her, or burning her etc.

Ah, this must be how the Analogue Support Facility came to be. Once her tragedies became valuable to Authority, they established a safe respawn point. In the modern age, she's supposed to be a means to control the emotions of the horde, not be a panic trigger for the normies.DrunkenSailor wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 2:16 amShe probably died of her heart condition, re-spawned, and the locals took exception to that and killed her again.
Her many deaths are driven by her story according to the desires of the horde. Her respawns surely are, too: A story needs a beginning along with an end, so her starting points are also part of her story. Maybe her occasional "zombie" respawns that trigger the normies are part of it: She's not only doomed to die tragically, but sometimes to be vilified as an undead monster too.Does anyone have any idea how her re spawn location is decided? It's also possible that the whole thing is imperfect and sometimes just glitches and respawns her in a bad spot. After all, we are watching her story playthrough with a couple of glitches named Piro and Largo.

An early memory of Miho, eh? And one wonders why she became who she was, until she crossed paths with Piro......

Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
Okay, I kind of get it that each language is probably saying "I don't want to die," (I vaguely recognize "mori" as meaning death), but exactly what languages are being used there?
Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
I think if nothing else, this shows us that Miho is even older than we'd thought. The pirate arc made it look like mid-late 1800s Ireland, but most of this feels much earlier.
"non volo mori" is latin for "I don't want to die". The following are, I think, progressively more modern versions of similar in gaelic. And I'd guess the first panel is something from before the romans came to ireland. If you look at the bottom of the comic, Fred credits cyocum with linguistic help. Cyocum is a regular on the MT discord who studies old gaelic.
I imagine this kind of treatment might be why Miho ended up in japan, about as far away from ireland as you can go.

The speaker is actually the comic itself, willing itself into continued existence.

Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
Okay, so panel 4 says "their mother, their father" and panel 3 seems to be saying something about weakness and hands...
Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
I suspect "their" is one of these things that doesn't translate well, and is not right in this context. (oh) Mother, (oh) Father seems more likely.

Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
The original BGC was great. I just wish that they would have been able to properly present the storyline that became Bubblegum Crash. But unfortunately corporate politics between Atrmic, AIC, and Mr Sonoda ruined that for us. Supposedly the story was supposed to delve deeper into Syllia's father's history with Genom and his antagonistic relationship with Mason.garapagosu wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 7:40 amThe speaker is actually the comic itself, willing itself into continued existence.

Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
Panel 2 is Latin ("I don't want to die."), panels 4 ("Oh Mother, Oh Father.") and 5 ("I don't want to die.") appear to be Gaelic, and panel 3 defeats my best efforts at identifying. Google Translate, Oxford Translate, and language identifiers, none of them have been helpful.

It's clear that she's dying differently in each panel (Eaten, beaten, burned, impaled.).

Re: [1607] I don't want to die (part 1)
I got Google Translate to try Scots Gaelic* and that yielded: "I will not accept your death" which sounds plausible but also not quite right - I feel it ought to be "I will not accept my death" in context of the other quotes.
But that's just my basic enquiry, based on no knowledge of Gaelic of any kind.
(*it auto-identified "ni accobar lem do bas" as Hindi and "ní accobar lem do bas" (with the accented i) as being Portuguese so clearly the AI has some school to attend)
