Re: [1550] Raging noises

I check in a few times every week. There might always be a new update to *any* plotline! =) I just like the "Would there be a new comic?"-feeling. Actually, it’s rewarded quite often with a "Yay! New comic!"-thrill. =) Okay, back to the subject. I just wondered. Masamichi’s Magical Girl Detector — i...

Re: [1550] Raging noises

Ah, yes. That *would* be a greater perspective. But still, multiple perspectives are in play. Ping is, after all, marketed as a ‘mere’ Playstation accessory. She can play many parts… as a whole.

Re: [1550] Raging noises

The error messages she received (in 1523) told her that she needed "downloadable" content. (…) My working assumption has been that downloadable here meant downloadable from Sony, either directly herself or through whatever Playstation console she is (assumed to be) connected to -- she's just an "ac...

… than him being a fine upstanding hard-working model citizen -- who is the willing instrument of the ultimate enslavement and sexual servitude of (Guinan quote again) "generations of disposable people". I’m with you, darrin — except for the sexual servitude. Ping didn’t just *not have access to* t...

Re: [1550] Raging noises

And what gives her the right to interfere with Junko? She doesn’t even know what she said to Ping… It might help not to think of it so much as "interference" as opposed to a much more... temporary restraint. As Professor Quirrell would put it , "There is a true fact, known to me but not to you, of ...

Re: [1550] Raging noises

No MT character really ever acknowledged Ping as 'dependant' on them (maybe apart from Piro, who felt responsible for her not getting lost for Tsubasa). This did not stop Ping from becoming (at the very least, emotionally) dependant on them, right ? Whether it was acknowledged (like Piro) or not (l...

Re: [1550] Raging noises

@cidjen: it doesn’t look to me as if Junko wanted Ping to become dependant upon her either. Wanting it or not doesn’t seem to influence Ping’s autoprogramming… @general: Okay, this was a very… quiet scene. I somehow interpreted the blurred text as a graphical expression of Ashe’s deafness straight a...

Conclusion, either way:
let's stop building AI / androids / sexbots for real. Whatever way you program them, they're a really BAD idea.

Re: [1549] The sum of our parts

Are you people forgetting about one of the basic tenets of Ping's programming ? If a real girl comes into the life of Ping's end user, she is programed to step aside and disengage the emotional strings that attach them. She is then supposed to help her end user build a "real" relationship. So this ...

Of course, none of us out here at the MT forums could ever be labeled ‘creepy’ in real life, by other real persons.

Re: [1548] the less appealing parts of her personality

How did Picard put it, "Villains who twirl their mustaches are easy to spot"? Nice quote there, darrin! =) Still, although it is of course an interesting turn in the story — I am a bit sad. I would’ve enjoyed a non-complicated, non-frustrated male adult person in MT for a change. I would have reall...

Re: [1548] the less appealing parts of her personality

Okay, I guess I was wrong in thinking he could actually turn out to be a good guy in MT for a change. I’m sad that I have to admit he is becoming more and more questionable. I really would have liked to see a fairly normal adult male with no disturbing or dubious goals in MT for a change. Thanks for...

Re: [1547] realistic girl architectures

I wonder if he lied to Junko. Junko may actually enjoy his interest in her because he is showing actual interest in her as a person. It’s clearly quite different than what she gets from the perverts that she is used to. So… in what way would this man have actually lied to her? Field work in anthropo...

Re: [1546] Gauging intent

This scene and Darrin’s observations actually remind me of two movies: D.A.R.R.Y.L. and Short Circuit. In both, there’s a big difference between the people who marvel at the real life situations in which the respective robots find themselves (choosing between chocolate and vanilla ice cream, for ins...

Re: [1546] Gauging intent

Yay! New comic! =D But… is he talking about any improper intimacy when he is talking about all the other girls? Junko seems to value this man differently — higher — than "all the other jerks" she is used to seeing. I do agree that there may be some perceived, vantage point dependant level of creepin...

Re: [1544]-"Too Much Information"

That’s a wise move of grandma, I think. She rightly guessed the background of the misunderstanding between Megumi and Ping, and now freaks out Ping deliberately (and her granddaughter — with two D’s ;) ) — to just give Ping every reason to withdraw out of her own free will. I wonder how this will pl...
