Well Facebook and Twitter at least seem to be problems that are solving themselves.

Last comic was on July 12th.

Huh...
I imagine the next comic will be end of this month or beginning of next. IIRC summer is a busy time for Fred.

Re: So... 2022

I think it's safe to say the project is cancelled. Even if Fred and what's left of his team start it up again, they'd be working with an outdated, incomplete code base and partially completed artwork that no longer reflects Fred's current style.

I think the project hasn't officially been declared failed simply due to the legal ramifications it would cause with Kickstarter.

Okay, so like an autopilot for characters. I could definitely see resource farmers abusing that heavily.

So kind of like Ark servers where your character just sleeps when you are not online?

Re: So, will it be ever delivered?

So as a business venture at some point, you either have to produce something, or you have admit the venture failed. The problem with admitting the venture failed is there is a legal process, because you can't just go "oop money gone" for the reason of cutting down on embezzlement. The project can't ...

The Endgames book series is written by a third party though, and Fred does the cover art.

True, there are extensions, but I think the analogy is that a communication is still being made. The IRS doesn't just hand you an extension if you are close to the deadline. You have to file for one which requires communicating the situation.

Re: I'm sure Fred is still working on this

Whether or not businesses have to publicly post their profits or losses depends on whether or not the business was publicly traded. When a business does fail, it doesn't just vanish from existence. There are laws in place to protect investors and a business has to follow legal proceedings to declare...

I agree with that wholeheartedly. The agile approach is the best development approach for complex programs like this, especially if you are a small indie developer with a limited budget. It works on the old adage of you have to walk before you can run.

Re: WHERE ARE THE REWARDS?! WHY DOESN'T FRED REPLY?!

Unfortunately, I think it's safe to say the visual novel has been abandoned permanently, and the money is gone. As for what went wrong, I can only speculate based on the scraps of info I can find.

Re: A persistent game universe, anyone?

Arc is a persistent game universe. When you log off your character passes out where you logged off at and remains loaded in the game. It makes it so you have to be really careful about where you "sleep," especially in PVP servers since other players can still interact with "sleeping" players.

Re: Doki Doki Literature Club

The game kind of reminds me of an episode of Star Trek: TNG. There is an episode where Data is in the simulation room and is playing a Sherlock Holmes simulation. However, he is always able to instantly solve the crime due to having memorized ever single Sherlock Holmes novel, so Dr. Crusher instru...

Re: [1485] - "no idea what is going to happen"

She always came back with the same heart problem that killed her in the first place. Naturally she would have sporadic issues leading up to failure. (Though we've seen she's capable of letting something else kill her first, too.) That does make me wonder if she may fear that she is still trapped in...

Re: [1485] - "no idea what is going to happen"

Thanks, and I do agree. There is an ongoing theme of wanting to get back to the familiar even if it goes against goals and dreams. Miho's just seems to be the extreme case, since her goal was escaping from her resurrection cycle, thinking it would never happen. Now, it happened. Still, it will be in...

Re: [1485] - "no idea what is going to happen"

I think also for Miho, she's been in this perpetual groundhog's day loop for over a century and a half. She was at the point where she could count the seconds to her next death and resurrection. Not only is she out of this loop, but she no longer has the protection that if anything happens to her, s...
