Re: Idolmaster
I am not any way an authority on this but Cygame's involvement with Cinderella Girls is purely on the software development/game publishing side. It is a thoroughly Bandai Namco IP. This is one reason why Cygames often have some ridiculous booth thing at the CG live concerts. The first movie combines...

Re: What are you watching/reading Q1 2020?
Last quarter Hey it's not February and I'm already back! ended up watching a bunch of shows last season but dropped some pretty fast. Probably will watch quite a bit this season as well, until eventing kills me. backlog-wise, I'm finally almost done with Carole and Tuesday (on Netflix). Wish there ...

Re: KyoAni Massacre
It's a fire. Calling an arson as massacre is too much.
It's been over a month and I'm still not emotionally ready to deal with this, so I have not besides buying some Kyoani blurays.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q2 2019
Blargh I had a whole thing written up and it lost my post because it timed out. Basically still watching half or a third of the airing shows. [time to abuse mod edit powers] List of shows, some new most old-- Kaguyasama was really fun, but probably also not substantive enough. Good example of what a...

not related but kind of related, but a couple Japanese record labels are banding together to release an app to stream anime music. Soundtrack and op/ed stuff. It's been out in Japan for a while already and it is ... okay I guess. Music streaming catalog for anime music is very messy, but it's nice t...

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2018
Steins Gate doesn't get going until after the half way point. I have some reservation continuing zero... Also, Toji no Miko. Did anyone watch the second half and is it even close to the first half quality-wise? Finally got around to Planet With, and it's surprisingly good...as in compelling. Don't r...

Re: ANIME IS PART OF THE REASON I AM THE WAY I AM..HBU
It's good to take a positive from your hobby, whatever that is. Keep in mind that the lessons these media tell you might not always be the best idea, but you have to apply it to reality in a way that works. A lot of the ideas in anime, thankfully, are pretty basic so they're fairly universal.

Re: Anime vs Drama
I feel they serve very different audiences. My only real good comparison point is GTO. And maybe densha otoko (I kinda cringe at both tbh). A lot of the dramas are actually pretty easy to watch and good binge things, since they're largely meant for that and aims at a mainstream audience, where as an...

Last season.... here . What I finished: Megalobox - I liked this. Not my jam but it managed to have some soul I think. Hinamatsuri - Great fun. Maji tenshi rietion. GGO is great fun. But at some level isn't this just watching esports. Well, watching people watching esports. Gurazeni ended well. Good...

I would never let my offspring watch Gundam Seed Destiny omg.
Joke aside, hopefully they'll bring out Yuasa's kids film and you can have that checked by your children.

Re: Anime Fandom Has Changed
Toronto actually has enough critical mass for "idol" stuff, although in North America a lot of it is fueled by cartoon idols (ie., fake, not-idol things). Heard the one maid cafe there is legit. I went to Anime North from 2014-2017 and met a bunch of Canadians who are into IDOLM@STER which is my mai...

Re: Anime Fandom Has Changed
But honestly, it's kinda a lot less fun. Anime being so much more mainstream it also kinda stopped being 'special'. You stopped being part of the 'anime club' in whatever circles you were in because it's just so very common now. And, I get that that is some garbage fandom gatekeeping, but it was st...

Re: Dragonball helps with my depression
yeah i've heard story over the years about some drastic stuff. but sometimes anime helps pass the time, put a smile on my face, helps me relax after work, helps to cheer me up after a sad thing that happened, etc. i think the little things matters too, and it adds up over the years.
