Re: What are you watching/reading Q4 2020?
We're only supposed to mention anime, but I highly recommend the French "April and the Extraordinary World" animated movie. Rated PG, but much more nuanced than a kiddie movie.

Yeah, my entry for WW is " Boringly bland.". OTOH, Kuma Kuma is still a guilty pleasure.

Re: What are you watching/reading Q4 2020?
Was enjoying a whirl thru Youtube where one URL leads in many different and fun directions. Found a Japanese-language live-movie trailer for a story I loved in manga and anime, "After the Rain". An unconventional story about how a 17-year-old schoolgirl's infatuation with a 44-year-old restaurant ma...

Re: What are you watching/reading Q4 2020?
Watching "Douluo Dalu" or "Soul Land", a Chinese 3-D anime isekai variation in which a sorceror from another world commits suicide and is born in yet another magic world. Very ornate backgrounds which are seen for only a few seconds. Only quibble is the characters' teeth are not animated well?? A fu...

Re: What are you watching/reading Q3 2020?
I found an excellent 3D Chinese anime to watch: "Carp Reborn". About a Japanese special-forces guy who is transferred to an alternate ancient Japan, where magic is power and power is everything. Great translation, but seems Chinese anime always has Chinese subs hardcoded. There must be 2 major di...

In a couple of years, AI will be able to colorize and Fred will be able to just tweak it a bit to get his slant on it. They will go back and colorize all the old comics and haters will hate it, as usual.

Re: What are you watching/reading Q3 2020?
Watched "Daily Life of the Immortal King" (Xian Wang De Ri Chang Sheng Huo). Better than usual characters & plot (IMHO) for a Chinese work. Falls in the "Demon King Reincarnated" story fad current lately. Excellent English translation.

Re: What are you watching/reading Q3 2020?
I should look at Wikipedia before posting - 14 vols + 3 of short stories. The anime is doing an OK job of adapting the light novel, but of course there is a lot more. Reading the novel helps me decipher the "little sister" scene in ep 3, et al.

Re: What are you watching/reading Q3 2020?
I am enjoying the remake of "Fruits Basket" anime, though I don't remember it being this dark in the manga. Also the 3rd season "My Teen Romantic Comedy..." I guess this will be the end of TRC anime? and I see the 10 vol. of the light novel is out, which is supposed to be the last.

Re: What are you watching/reading Q1 2020?
I have been followng light novels "My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected" about a high school cynic. Due to traumatic experiences in middle school, he embraced the role of a loner. But his teacher made membership in a "service club" mandatory, along with two beautiful girls who were als...

Just noticed the 1st 2 eps of "Six Hearts Princess", which looks like a worthy addition to the magic girl genre.
Confusing info about it on the 'net, tho.

Re: [1561] Little girl stuff
I have always greatly admired CS Lewis's defense of fairy tales and children's literature. I think, had he lived long enough to know of them, he'd have felt the same about magical girls. You don't have to give up little girl stuff when you become a big girl, Moeko. Never stop dreaming. My defence c...

Can't believe I'm still watching the hackneyed & apathetic "Kenja no Mago", but I get a kick out of hearing the hero's girlfriend's name "Sizilien". She ain't lean and has no sizzle, but reminds me of '80's Sizzlean bacon: https://www.brandedinthe80s.com/6466/and-i-aint-faking-ill-bring-home-the-tur...

Original Glass Mask Blu-rays
I see Maiden Japan has come out with the original 1984 "Glass Mask" eps. There was a remake in 2005, complete but, IMHO, sadly inferior.
It's good to see old classics coming to the US.

I see Amazon has Battle Programmer Shirase for preorder. I never thought BPS would make it to the states. It came out in 2004 and consists of 15 short eps. It's a favorite of mine; very cute & sweet.

Re: [1554] the parts needed
Pings hair looks like it's changing color, getting lighter, in real time, right in front of the fox girls. So the whole they don't notice she's a robot, or wouldn't believe it if they were told stuff may be over. It's cute in the comic. It would be dumbfounding in person. As for missing parts. Afte...

Re: [1554] the parts needed
Ping has an amazing ability to change her body, so even if she is a "non-H" model, she may be able to manifest everything needed for physical love, if she is indeed missing some. If the missing parts are emotional, she has already exceeded her creator's design specs in that area. So; not an insurmou...

Re: [1549] The sum of our parts
Well y'know, one of the defining charactistics of evil is treating people as things. In war, it manifests as dehumanizing the enemy. In that respect, Gero is mega-evil in that he is intent on creating as many 'daughters' ('cause that is what they would be called if biological) as possible and sellin...

Clearly, the doctor is an overachiever. Fanboys & girls are not that hard to please, given their obsession with 2D characters. Passed the Turing test, no prob.

Apparently we were also right that his only true interest in Junko is as a research subject. Since he's obviously led Junko on, and that in turn has led to Ping's present crisis, I think just being Junko's "type" and being interested in her (asking questions) would be enough to pique her interest. ...

... so dr. Gero might be tempted to see how "real" Ping's reactions are and he is uniquely qualified to succeed, having designed her. I have faith in Fred that he won't get that far, tho.

Re: What are you Watching/Reading Q3 2018
Watched a couple of Chinese anime: "Creatures Family Days; Shiyan Pin Jiating; Jikkenhin Kazoku" was OK, but the end was strangely truncated - if they only had another 5 min? "Bai Ye Ling Long" is cute, but forgettable.
Yes, "Tenrou Sirius the Jaeger" is pretty good so far.
