Re: [1555] Go see her

I was certainly horrible at making any kinds of predictions on the old forms, so I have tried to steer clear of that myself (I have maybe gotten slightly better at making small-scale predictions  but that's maybe just because of trying to make a lot fewer). I did however a few months back in a ...

Re: [1555] Go see her

If you hate Miho for allegedly being manipulative then what about Yaku who got herself into a great deal of trouble manipulation Junpei’s feelings for her mother or Yuki and what she did to Yutaka Shame the old forum archives are still down, I could dig up an ancient post of mine in response to sim...

Re: [filk] Provisional lover

Hah, I'm sorryyyy... Lol, sorry, please don't take my whiny attention-whoring seriously. I had just been moping for... wow about a year now, since my last filk, which got zero replies of any kind...  Which is not healthy of course but I would never claim to be a healthy guy. :roll...

Re: [filk] Provisional lover

My problem with most filks is that I don't recognize the original song. Ha same here. On the old forums I once said that the reason I didn't help more in commenting on / criticizing filks was that I was more of a fan of "classical" music than say pop, which generated a bit of ribbing (e.g. Wa...

Re: [filk] Somewhere Only Piro

First off I should say I had never heard of Keane, and having listened to the song in question I confess it does not do much for me. I hope that doesn't bias my evaluation of the filk but I am disclosing that to be safe. I agree completely with what paarfi says above. I did not notice any obvious is...

Re: [filk] Provisional lover

Dang it, don't get my hopes up like that. It was bad enough my last filk got zero responses, and that this one looks to be heading in the same direction. But even no responses is marginally less depressing than a not-actually-responsive response. Times like this I really miss Wavebird_Ocelot...

Re: [1555] Go see her

Ever since I finally went to the effort of finding and watching the Nurse Angel Ririka series (to see for myself what our Ririka was stated to be based on :D), I have been thinking, no offense to Mr. Kobayashi (who was evidently cool enough to snag Ririka :D), but I kinda liked Seita -- he was a rio...

[filk] Provisional lover

I used this for the lyrics text, and this to try to get a feel for the rhythm. (Mostly iambic tetrameter I guess? :?) In this style I would expect the word to be pronounced roughly "pruhVIZH'nal", so pretty much 2 syllables, and not the four you'd get if you're David Attenborough or something. (Poss...

Re: [1554] the parts needed

I think it is pretty clear that Junko was angry at Ping. For trying to intervene and seduce this scientist guy who Junko actually has a favorable attitude towards. I keep coming back to what Ashe says in 1552, "Do you really think he would confuse you with that... girl?" Junko's response "He does?"...

Re: [1554] the parts needed

As much as I like Junko, I cannot pawn her anger at Ping being purely about Ping offering herself up to protect Junko. That is part of it, but there is more going on I think you would agree. I don't agree, no. In the last panel Junko is hugging Ping. The clear implication is that she was angry on P...

Re: Federal Gacha/Pay-to-Win Ban Proposed

“Tricking kids into spending money while they play games is unacceptable and should be illegal,” Rgiht, cause their parents are totally being "tricked" into entering their credit card numbers into the game. You know, when my son manages to talk me into shelling out another 25 bucks for yet a...

Re: [1554] the parts needed

Wow, you guys are shitting on Ping now too? I am pretty done here with repeating myself about how dismissive and denigrating this line is to the characters, so this will be my last post this thread. But as bad as that was in Junko's direction, for Ping it is pretty much crossing into puppy-kicking t...

Re: [1554] the parts needed

I think it is quite likely that Junko is upset because Ping is messing with her "job." I can't imagine that being the case; "stay on your side of the street, ho" is nowhere near the dynamic that's been established so far between them. Upset at Ping for risking her own safety in a misguided attempt ...

Re: [1554] the parts needed

Perhaps Junko's emotional state in the comic is due in part to not having a proper meal before setting off on her wild ride. We don't yet know the details of why she is as upset as she is. Assuming, despite that lack of evidence, that her emotions are just "dumb" or that she's "cranky" because she ...

Re: [1554] the parts needed

I am left with the conclusion that Megumi, as embedded as she is in the weird and wonderful of Mega Tokyo, is a just plain dunderhead. Yet more nightmare fuel for the existential fears burning away in my tiny human brain ever since the Old Man's appearance. Re: Catch me up on the last 14 years please

How much ‘in story’ time has passed since I last read the comic? The quality of evidence for the below varies, but even for the ones that have reasonably good evidence, I'm pretty rarely going to track down and point to strips that present it. As Al Pacino said in Scent of a Woman, "I'm too old, an...
