Re: [1586] Chapter 13 - Redemption

On the Sawatari not marrying, that could be a reason for a kitsune deciding to reject power. Not everyone wants to be a permanent bachelor, and what may be normal for us could quite easily be exotic and romantic for someone who, per her culture, has no access to it. On Grandma's tail grafting, do w...

Re: [1586] Chapter 13 - Redemption

Another possibility is that Megumi's bio father was/is in fact a powerful but statistically much rarer male kitsune who was able to mask his own true nature. I find that possibility quite intriguing, Invisigoth. It's as likely a possibility as any other, given the fact that we are dealing with a su...

Re: [1586] Chapter 13 - Redemption

I enjoy watching people use conventional knowledge about genetics and familial lineages [...] to try and figure out where Megumi fits within the hierarchy of the Kitsune family I'm not doing anything of the sort. The only observation I've made is that Megumi calls Grandma "Grandma", and Ashe "cousi...

Re: [1586] Chapter 13 - Redemption

But wasn't she running around with Ashe? I'm confused now 😅 I certainly won't claim to not be confused by the details of the relationships. To the best of my abilities to seek aid from search ninja, those details have yet to be revealed, and I'm pretty sure that's deliberate on Fred's part. When Me...

Re: [1585] rest and recovery

Patience, Grasshopper. Our illustrious author has a lot of real life issues to deal with in addition to a raging pandemic going on all about us. I would rather patiently wait for a new installment than get one quickly and find out that his real life issues became worse due to neglect.

Re: Does anyone here still buy DVDs/Blu-rays?

Over the course of 40 years I have amassed a collection of videos (VHS and then later DVD and Blueray) numbering in the THOUSANDS. I remember paying 60 bucks a pop for a single volume of Urusei Yatsura on VHS (and I collected the entire set). However, since the advent of Netflix and then later the A...

Re: [1585] rest and recovery

Pursuant to my previous statement: what if the Megatokyo environment is simply another virtual environment and the player who is playing the "Largo" character actually IS an eight-year-old?

Re: [1585] rest and recovery

Ok, I have a theory now that might explain Largo's behavior. Maybe he's not actually an idiot. Maybe he's suffering from arrested mental (and perhaps partial physical) development. He's an eight-year-old stuck in the body of a twenty-something. Consider if you will, the way he perceives his environm...

Re: [1585] rest and recovery

Well, even if they did not have sex, they must have at least been under intimate (remember, intimate does not necessarily mean sex) conditions for Largo to have found out about his "awkward condition". He's been with Erika since then almost nonstop. I should think a NORMAL person would have picked u...

Re: [1585] rest and recovery

Well, Invisigoth, they must have at least TRIED to have sex or how else would he have known about this "awkward condition"? The point is, he's been with her for some time now and part of that time has been spent under intimate conditions. I just can not understand how any human being could possibly ...

Re: [1585] rest and recovery

HOW....CAN....THAT....IDIOT....BE....SO....CLUELESS?! My GOD, he's already had sex with her and been with her for most of the last while. How can he NOT have picked up on ANY of her behavior patterns? Largo SERIOUSLY has to be channeling every single spirit of STUPIDITY that might be roaming around ...

Re: What are you watching/reading Q3 2020?

Ya, I watched that series as well, Darrin. It starts out rather lighthearted and then you begin to realize what is really going on and your heart starts to break. The animation style completely throws you off at first and you sort of expect something silly and whimsical.....but it doesn't stay that ...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

Here's what I am worried about.....we have come to an ominous fork in the road with regards to Megumi. If her failure at making a go of relationships is simply due to blind luck of the bad kind, there is a possibility that she arises as a potentially good force for Megatokyo IF she is able to shrug ...

Re: [CG] [1583] "the heartbreak of other people's luck" Panel 7

I have to admit, I always pictured Megumi with more of a Chestnut Brown colored hair. That deep dark blue though, makes her look incredibly exotic. Good show there! I likes it!

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

Poor Megumi, I feel bad about her luck with love, but I don't know if that angst means she is going to destructive bender. I do get the feel we're going to see a lot of plot advancement chapter. I have some doubts whether Megumi is 9 tails. That little bit of visible tail that pokes out from the ta...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

Okayyyy, I have to ask the following question: why does Teddy think that Miho is the fount of all evil? I mean, she does seem to be occasionally prickly. She also comes of as being a bit of a schemer. Evil, though? I just can't see it. In the early part of the comic there was some hi-jinks going on ...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

… Thanks for your input, all! =) If she has indeed been cursed by her Grandma, BetaCygnus, it was almost certainly done in order to conceal her true nature. From others and possibly even herself. Most likely done in order to safeguard the clan. Part of the curse might have been some sort of probabi...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

I could see either (grand ^n -)parental suppression, or naturally hidden development being the explanation for the non-manifesta(il)tion, but I'm not buying the idea of the loneliness curse without some strong on-comic evidence. On another note, I hope Fred decides to count threat assessment as thi...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

AFAIK no. It's just one of many "what if"s that have become SD canon. I'm not quite sure why this has become a popular theory. To me, based on the comic and TTDP comic, Megumi hides the fact that she is a powerful foxgirl in order to avoid the TPCD and the prejudice associated with being a "monster...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

So, 20th anniversary of the date on the first comic coming in 4 days (as of writing this), we have an ending of chapter 12! Thank you Fred, for the page :) She's a beau :) In some sense, Megumi did get a reward out of this battle, and it's not /that/ insubstantial, so... if she's a player, then she...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

Well, it occurs to me that old granny 8 tail might regret making "jokes" about murdering Mugi for her tail.... That makes me wonder. Would Megumi actually have attended these clan get-togethers? Would these affairs be open to both kitsune and mundanes? If she has attended them, you might be right a...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

Megumi is lonely not alone. You can be surrounded by friends and family yet still be lonely and in the pit of depression. I don’t think Megumi knows about the transition and when she wakes up everything will be normal with no evidence of what happened except for the possibility of a few stray hairs...

Re: [1583] the heartbreak of other people's luck

Comic is up now. Ya, there is no teasing this time. Megumi is a true Nine-Tail. Now, does anyone have any idea who might be able to pull her out of her depression? Somebody needs to get to her FAST before she allows herself to sink any further. My greatest fear is that she becomes the antagonist of ...
