In reply to: I don't see anything wrong with you or Meagen recording the filks. Indeed, it would be good idea. The drawback of such specialized filks like these is that they are only relevant to a small audience and so they are never performed, unlike more "traditional" filks which take more widely known SciFi or Fantasy properties as their inspiration. Perhaps some musically inclined and courageous forumgoer might be persuaded to perform MT filks in a live performance at convention where a decent MT fan turnout is expected? |

Good job, that's a sweet edit job. You did well in removing the backgrounds and arranging them so that they fit well with the other anime characters.

Yes, I definitely will post a guide to the cover art. Look for it tomorrow. By the way, folks, Phaedrus is back, so read his verse and bid him welcome.
In the meantime... She's Blowing Minds after "She's Leaving Home" MegaGamers is dark and silent 'til she arrives: Erika opens up for the day, Sipping the coffee she bought on the way. "She is looking her best this morning," the customers think: Thanks to the outfit that Kimiko made, All of her charms well-displayed. She ("She is too good to be real!") Is blowing ("How can she really be real?!") Minds ("Could it be that she is really that real?!") She's blowing minds of the dumb fanboy kind Like she does each day. Watch out! MegaGamers is filled with fanboys all through the day; Erika's what they have come to see: Come to see to an unhealthy degree. She is watchful; she knows their motives, and so she thinks: "It's bad enough that these bozos stare. Let them try more if they dare..." She ("No way that those could be real!") Is blowing ("What if they really are real?!") Minds ("I've gotta see for myself if they're real!") She's blowing minds of the dumb fanboy kind Like she does each day. Watch out! MegaGamers is closing down at the end of the day; Erika's managed to have some fun, She smiles a little to think what she's done. She ("What did she do to you, dude?") Was breaking ("Hands to yourself next time, dude!") Hands ("That's what you get when you try to be lewd!") She's breaking hands that belong to her fans When they go too far. Watch out! She's blowing minds. Watch out! (Apologies to John Lennon and Paul McCartney) She's Leaving Home Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins Silently closing her bedroom door Leaving the note that she hoped would say more She goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her hankerchief Quietly turning the backdoor key Stepping outside she is free. She (We gave her most of our lives) Is leaving (Sacrificed most of our lives) Home (We gave her everything money could buy) She's leaving home after living alone For so many years. Bye, bye Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown Picks up the letter that's lying there Standing alone at the top of the stairs She breaks down and cries to her husband Daddy our baby's gone. Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly How could she do this to me? She (We never thought of ourselves) Is leaving (Never a thought for ourselves) Home (We struggled hard all our lives to get by) She's leaving home after living alone For so many years. Bye, bye Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away Waiting to keep the appointment she made Meeting a man from the motor trade. She (What did we do that was wrong) Is having (We didn't know it was wrong) Fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy) Something inside that was always denied For so many years. Bye, Bye She's leaving home bye bye |

Damn smurd, that was awesome - didn't think you'd do one for Erika though. I thought you were one of those (in the words of Draegos) dedicated Miho-loving necrophiles.
Lesson of L33t A darkened dojo, the air heavy with incense, chords from a sitar in the background. An aged Junpei sits at the center of a ring of pupils, imparting a lesson. Junpei tell you - of secret world you never knew, And of ninja - who hide themselves within shifting worlds of shadows, Never see us there - until it far too late - then we fade away-ay-ay. Junpei stalking - through night in Megatokyo - no one find him, Use new l33t skillz learn from master - new l33t skillz, New l33t skillz - from enlightened one - Largo-sensei teach-each-each. Junpei realize Largo Daishi ownz him with his Mortal Kombat skillz, And know lotus flower grow from l33t-on3'z butt, While l33t flows on within you and without you-ou-ou. Junpei sits in lotus posture, eyes closed, seemingly lost in visions, as the sitar plays mystical passages. Presently he leans slowly forward, and an odd, guttural purr seems to emanate from his vicinity. The students look at each other; one seated behind Junpei stretches his leg forward and carefully nudges him. Junpei sits up straight, looks about him, then continues his lesson. Junpei look for - Largo Daishi in the MegaGamers store, Find there Sony and Sega black-ops team, Crushed their weapons - it was instinct - Junpei so sorry-ry-ry. When you find your teacher - then you may find enlightenment is there, or not, And the time will come when you see truth of l33t, And l33t flows on within you and without you-ou-ou. Now the entire group is lost in meditation. Presently Junpei resumes his wordless mantra, and is imitated by his students. (Profuse apologies to George Harrison, even though he had it coming) ========================================================= George Harrison Within You Without You We were talking-about the space between us all And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away. We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it To try our best to hold it there-with our love With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew. Try to realise it's all within yourself no-one else can make you change And to see you're really only very small, And life flows within you and without you. We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people, Who gain the world and lose their soul- They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them? When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind, Is waiting there - and the time will come when you see we're all one, And life flows on within you and without you. Doing this one may have caused me permanent mental damage. |

ugh... It's getting difficult to filk before someone throws up the song you were doing ahead of you!
I've already done a "Lovely Rita" filk, but here's another... Being for the Benefit of Inspector Sonoda For the benefit of Sonoda-san There will be an invasion in Shimbashi. The Martians will come decimate, With permits filed in triplicate, and notarized. The rays of death and giant mechs Just mean more work for the architects come tomorrow. And if they screw up, Inspector S. will throw them in jail! The overstressed Inspector S. Files paperwork on riot requests in Roppongi. The Martians better leave on time, Or there will be a hefty fine, while Meimi-san waits patiently. He's already had to work late twice This week, and come home to microwaved rice and cold tea. But that's the price you pay if you want chaos to be organized! Then in the morning he'll eat pancakes, A few moments peace before the window shakes and the telephone rings. There was an explosion in Tokyo bay, It's that damn turtle again, he never obeys the ordinances. He'll briefly consider retirement, But there's no one in Tokyo as competent as Sonoda-san. So with a sigh, he puts on his coat, and goes to work again! |

Smurd, Shoka, and Telliamed: Good job, all of you.
As people are stepping on each others' toes now, perhaps people should call dibs on the remaining Sgt. Pepper's songs prior to actually starting work, thus avoiding wasted effort. Since I don't have the Sgt. Pepper's album, I can't filk to it. Yellow Submarine, on the other hand ... ======================= Lonely Lass {After Nowhere Man -- The Beatles} She's a lovely Goth lass, fleeing now a mocking class, nursing her heart of glass, so lonely. In reaching for affection, she meets more rejection, Won't someone kindly fill her needs? Lonely lass, sorrow not, sweet Ping-chan is reaching out, Lonely lass, Ping can help you, let her try. A robot without a heart, the only one to take your part, Lonely lass you have a true friend in her. Lonely lass, take heart now, it will work out, somehow. Relax now while Ping makes the pain go at last. In reaching for affection, she meets more rejection, Won't someone kindly fill her needs? Lonely lass, sorrow not, sweet Ping-chan is reaching out, Lonely lass, Ping can help you, let her try. She's a lovely Goth lass, fleeing now a mocking class, nursing her heart of glass, so lonely. Nursing her heart of glass, so lonely. Nursing her heart of glass, so lonely. ***** Nowhere Man -- The Beatles He's a real nowhere man, Sitting in his nowhere land, Making all his nowhere plans for nobody. Doesn't have a point of view, Knows not where he's going to, Isn't he a bit like you and me? Nowhere man, please listen, You don't know what you're missing, Nowhere man, the world is at your command. He's as blind as he can be, Just sees what he wants to see, Nowhere man can you see me at all? Nowhere man, don't worry, Take your time, don't hurry, Leave it all 'till somebody else Lends you a hand. Doesn't have a point of view, Knows not where he's going to, Isn't he a bit like you and me? Nowhere man, please listen, You don't know what you're missing, Nowhere man, the world is at your command. He's a real nowhere man, Sitting in his nowhere land, Making all his nowhere plans For nobody. Making all his nowhere plans for nobody. Making all his nowhere plans For nobody. |

<AncestralHamster>...perhaps people should call dibs on the remaining Sgt. Pepper's songs...
OK, I dibs "A Day in the Life". A Day in Yuki's Life I went to school today, hidoi, I had too many things to think about, My two best friends were teasing me, About my new sensei, My schoolgirl fantasy. My mind was wandering during class, I hadn't heard the teacher question me, My classmates turned around and stared, It was embarrasing, I never would have guessed That I would find myself in such distress. I found his bookbag in a store, I promised that I wouldn't open it, I should have given it to Dad, But I just had to look And found his old sketchbook, His drawings turned me on... Woke up, put down my bear, Sat and braided back my hair, Found my way downstairs for breakfast and ate, Kicked my brother in the shins for a comment that he made, Got my books and said bai-bai To my Mom and Dad, then I Said hello to Piro-sensei on my way to school, Sat down in my class and had a sweet daydream... I thought about his sketches then, The pretty girls he drew were all so sad, I'd never felt like this before, So I had scanned them all, And now he's promised that he's going to teach me how to draw, His sketches turn me on... (apologies to John Lennon and Paul McCartney) ============================================== John Lennon/Paul McCartney A Day in the Life I read the news today oh boy About a lucky man who made the grade And though the news was rater sad Well I just had to laugh I saw the photograph. He blew his mind out in a car He didn't notice that the lights had changed A crowd of people stood and stared They'd seen his face before Nobody was really sure If he was from the House of Lords. I saw a film today oh boy The English Army had just won the war A crowd of people turned away But I just had the book. I'd love to turn you on Woke up, fell out of bed, Dragged a comb across my head Found my way downstairs and drank a cup, And looking up I noticed I was late. Found my coat and grabbed my hat Made the bus in seconds flat Found my way upstairs and had a smoke, Some body spoke and I went into a dream I read the news today oh boy Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire And though the holes were rather small They had to count them all Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. I'd love to turn you on |

OK - Sgt Pepper songs left un-filked now are "Fixing a Hole", which Meagan is working on, and "Good Morning Good Morning". Moving right along...
<smurd>Well, [deleted]. Well, well. I was working on a version of this song, but there's no way I can improve on this. Damn, sorry smurd...I was sure that the one song that would be left until last would be "Within You Without You", just because the damn thing is so hard to sing! Still, as you yourself pointed out, there's no reason multiple filks of the same songs can't appear in this thread. In that connection, I think you ought to post your "Lovely Rita" filk here instead of just linking it, so that all of the Sgt. Pepper songs are in the same thread. I'd also like to see telliamed's version posted here as well. Believe it or not, tom, I had been thinking of doing a filk for Sonoda-san myself, using "Mr Kite"! You did a really great job with it! |

Live to serve...
Lovely Miho to the tune of "Lovely Rita" Lovely Miho Evil maid Lovely Miho Evil maid Lovely Miho, Evil maid, Beautiful deadly nightshade: When the dawn comes She hides herself away... Strolling through The "Heart of Darkness", That was how I met Her Highness, Readin' incantations from a honkin' black book. Her dark eyes were such a riddle, And the studs Around her middle Made her so attractive that I couldn't not look! Lovely Miho, Evil maid, Sweetly sinister sister: What will I face in my pursuit of her? Miho! Our eyes met And I was her knave, Ever after I'd be her slave; Told me she was hungry, "Could we go for a stroll?" She's dropping hints Like they were breadcrumbs, I took her arm And so I played dumb: Would I leave her waiting just to rescue my soul? NO! Lovely Miho, I'm waylaid, I'll go nowhere without you: Smile your smile and I'll be there for you! Lovely Miho Evil maid Lovely Miho I'm waylaid Lovely Miho Evil maid Lovely Miho I'm waylaid (Apologies to John Lennon and Paul McCartney; thanks to Draegos and Telliamed for the impetus) Lovely Rita Lovely Rita Meter maid Lovely Rita Meter maid Lovely Rita Meter maid Nothing can come between us When it gets dark I tow your heart away Standing by A parking meter When I caught a glimpse of Rita Filling in a ticket in a little white book In her hat She looked much older And the bag Across her shoulder Make her look a little like a milit'ry man Lovely Rita Meter maid May i inquire discreetly When are you free to take some tea with me Rita! Took her out I tried to win her Had a laugh over dinner Told her I would really like to see her again Dropped the check And Rita paid it Took her home I nearly maid it Sitting on the sofa with a sister or two Oh Lovely Rita Meter maid Where would I be without you Give us a wink and make me think of you Lovely Rita Meter maid Lovely Rita Meter maid Lovely Rita Meter maid Lovely Rita Meter maid |

Telliamed: terrific take on this piece! I kept looking at the lyrics and wondering how I would frame it (I would probably have gone with something involving Dom and Ed and lots of explosions.)
I wanted to drop your "Lovely Rita" filk in here too, 'cos I really liked it and I think it deserves the exposure, but I couldn't find it with the search function. Please oblige us! Shoka: I certainly don't mind that you got there first. I was going to do something relating to beer (there's a surprise), using a Bavarian oompah ensemble instead of sitars and tablas. But yours was miles better, in concept especially. I think Junpei-speak should get as much coverage as l33t does now. |

In reply to: Heh! Hey, while you're at it, why not "creatively edit" Abbey Road as well? Only "Good Morning, Good Morning" remains unclaimed. Once it's filked and Meagan finishes Cool Thing/"Fixing a Hole" that will complete the "album." So what album comes next? Incidentally, I'm working on a Megatoyko/Beatles "discography." An archive search turned up the following: Kimiko [Yesterday] Caduceuskun You Know That You Are Hers [Tomorrow Never Knows] Smurd Mihogoeth [Julia] Garran I Fell Under Her Sway after [I Saw Her Standing There] Smurd If anyone knows of others, please PM the information to me (and a link ideally), and in a few days I hope to have a single document with the filks sorted by album with links, which will make future reference simpler. It will be posted either here or in a new thread once it is completed. |

Okay, I did a recording of "Getting l33ter", very crappy for several reasons. Unfortunately both my websites have a 1.5 MB filesize limit, and the zip is 1.84 MB. Does anyone have a big mailbox and two megs of space free?

Doll
(After Girl) Oh, will nobody believe me when I tell the story All about the doll my friend acquired? She's the kind of doll that's made to hook up to a Sony She can't help it; that's the way she's wired Oh, doll... (Sharp intake of breath) Doll, Doll... When I think of all the times that I have tried rejection Then I see her madness take ahold And she demonstrates a terrifying predilection To cave my hapless head in with a pole Oh, doll... (Breath) Doll, Doll... She's the kind of doll who gets the door for pretty girls you look a perv When she's gone the whole night through she calls to say what she thinks you deserve (erve, erve, erve) Doll... (Breath) Doll, doll... Was she programmed as a child to try and satisfy you Even with needs you don't want fulfilled? Don't be too alarmed at transit vehicles flying by you It's just malfunction driving her to kill Oh, doll... (Breath) Doll, doll... (And so on) (And on an entirely different note (ha, ha) - In reply to:*raises his hand* I'm hosting smurd's images, so there's no reason I can't do this, too. Heck, I could even do a recording of my own... Though I've a not particularly awe-inspiring microphone and no midis. Maybe not such a good idea.) ((Edit: Oh - _Quinn responded already. Well, either of us work.)) |
