That's funny, because considering Largo's sense of humor, that's exactly what it looks like to me. |

Ithil, I agree.
It's only with our closest friends that we can be very verbally abusive and still it's just good fun. Also, he is saying this to Erika, not to Piro (probably the good old sub-concious "If I make him look bad, I look better" attitude to win some points w/ Erika) so he's not really being offensive towards his friend (except if Erika told him what Largo said, like that would ever happen!) but just being offensive in general, just like we all expect Largo to be! |

wouldn't you make some complaining remark if you had to drag your roommate home?
besides, there are people who really don't react very well to alcohol. Piro and Kimiko's behaviour in the last strips show that they belong to that group. How Piro and Largo became friends is a great miracle indeed. they live in totally different worlds, and seem to be unable to understand each other. maybe old childhood friends who drifted apart... They seem to live for the sole purpose of getting themselves and each other in trouble... maybe that is their bond... |

I think you're taking Largo's comments too seriously and misunderstanding his character. His comments on Piro are meant in a friendly way. He's not the kind to hold any ill feelings towards anyone. He is in his own way a very naive and innocent soul.
As for his subsequent comments, I think they can be taken both ways. Fred certainly intended that with the third last panel |

And the second time, Piro saved him from "ultimate suffering", as it were.
Erika: <So this is your roomate?> Largo: (staring) Woah. B4b3-o-r4m4. Are those real? Piro: (pushing Largo off the panel) <Ok, Largo, have fun diggin thru the garbage!> Fly you fool, you know not your peril! Largo: (confused) Wha... what'd I do? but I must agree, Largo does seem easily confused and less intelligent (as you can tell by his statements) when not having consumed some alcohol. |

Hear, hear. Largo doesn't really understand the real world very well - as has been more than demonstrated throughout the comic's history. His world is computers, hardware, and computer games, much as Piro's is anime and dating sims. I doubt he means anything more than what he's actually saying (i.e. overclocking) - it's just that virtually everything he says seems to come out as a double entendre. |

LARGO IS HITTING ON ERIKA!
I can't believe the lengths to which people here will go to deny Largo's interest in sex. He leers at her breasts, comments on their size, smirks and predicates his comment on the fact that both Piro and Kimiko are passed out. Sure Largo lives in a different world from the rest of us. That's why he comes up with one of the most outrageously unlikely pickup lines of all time. But lets call a B33R a B33R, Largo just propositioned Erika. |

Rodney once said: "Largo is me, without my better judgment"
I think he ment it exactly the way it sounded. My question, is how's he going to get Piro home now? Harry Voyager |

As for Largo's comments about Piro, I think he's rather miffed that he has to carry him home again. It sounds like this has happened more than once in the past.
Once or twice over a totaled relationship is one thing, but it sounds like Piro does this over nearly every girl he meets. Fortunatly for Largo's back, that doesn seem to happen to often. Harry Voyager |

You and others have raised excellent points, and given that other perspective, I can now see where a friend might say that sort of thing under those circumstances.
Actually, I could see a couple of other motivations for Largo's manner. Largo might not want to have Erika thinking that he's a nice guy. Because that would be bad. <channel Tick> Largo might not want Erika thinking that he and Piro are...you know...that way. Funny. </channel Tick> I still think his comments were overly harsh, though. |

Hey, if you don't like the comic then don't read it. There will always be part someone doesn't like. The, what now?, two suggestive jokes in 2 years should not offend you that much. If it does then your hanging with hte wrong group of people as most people seem to enjoy the shear stupidity of Largo's attempts. Sorry, but it's not your comic people.
And since there are too many attacks on this one disparaging Fred, I'll give him some confidence. I liked it, I liked it alot. |

Heh, nice to see fred isn't going total serious on MT. I suspect Largo had a hand in writing this one (notice he had his first update in quite a while?).
As to the question of what largo meant, he was most definatly hitting on erika and not talking about overclocking her computer. Largo is the kind of character who refers to real life through computing terms, and sex is no exception. Can you really see largo talking about it in normal terms? |

Agreed. Largo's mind rotates around the world of computers and games, and the probably only witty comment he could think of was computer related.
As to the comment about poor Piro being "fat", he MAY have being just joking, or he may have been being blunt. Years of alcohol and games probabyl desrupted his social skills at least a bit, and he might have lost the ability to cover-up what he really means with what people will udnerstand and not take offense to -- thus his problems with women. To those who are upset by suggestive jokes: if you're jsut blushing, you'll get over it, believe me. If you're not jsut blushing, but saying, "What the hell?!" then you may have a problem. I'm not telling you not to read, but maye to jsut skip over more suggestive-looking comics. Don't tell Fred how to write his comics, okay? So many other people love them the way they are. I, for one, couldn't see any way they could be better. Give the guy a break! Don't you watch television at all? Surf the internet? Go to the movies? READ BOOKS? They ALL have have their own suggestiveness, and if it upsets you you shouldn't try to change what there is, but move on to waht hasn't got "offensive" material. |

in some ways, thats a good compliment, but no, Largo had no hand in writing this particular episode (if he ever does in the future, i'll list him in the credits of the comic for it).
Actually, i recieved good feedback, help and suggestions on this one from Dom and Ed. My team of 'editors' (who only get to edit when i actually have time to write scripts down and let them view them) are Dom, Ed, Natsuki, Asmodeus and sometimes Pocky (a friend of mine who just recently moved back from japan). most errors in the comics come from when i dont listen to these folks. I have a stubborn streak that refutes suggestions and comments more often than not, so these friends of mine she get real kudos for putting up with me. piro |

Well, before I get in to anything detailed, I would like to point out that there is no ACTUAL proof that the supposed "scream of Ultamit Suffering" came from Largo. More over, if it were somethjing I was writing Largo would be seen with a smoking computer case infront of him saying something like 'Why to Duron processors always do that?' or something. Orposibly largo repeating "What do you mean 'Don't have a computer'?". It makes perfect sense. To me, the last panal was to e misleading for the poor reader.
If it's not in frame... it dosn't exist. - Film maker montra to add to the largo debate, I think it was aliitle from collum A and a little from Collum B. Largo was hitting on Erika, and Erika has been listening all night to the boy rant about his Zombi adventures. Even Erika, with her hot temper, would see this advance as ammusing, but not offensive. I think that, if anything she would see him as 'cute' but misguided.Like an odd little boubble or... cool thing. But I'm no one, so what do I know? |

*pats Starf0x's head* Poor boy, everybody's soembody, if only to one other.
However, I think it's implied that it's coming from him. Every time Largo mentions something even slightly suggestive, he gets hurt. Erika likes to put the pain on people who upset her, or so it seems. Put his mouth and her fists together (not literally), and you most likely get a bloody pulp of Largo at Erika's feet. Also, we're not sure yet what kind of sense of humor she has, and, even if she doesn't take it seriously, she may still beat him. She seems, though, to have a rather twisted sense of humor, one which wouldn't find such a comment particularly funny... especially form Largo. |

In reply to: That's true in some cases, but I don't think so at all with MT. One thing I've observed is that Fred handles off-camera action in a very clever manner, and I think this is another example of it. You might be right that the "scream of ultimate suffering" wasn't Largo's, but I vote that it was. I cringed immediately after reading his lewd comment in expectation of what she'd do to him. |
