Looking For An Us Anime Con, Sep -> Dec

I'm thinking of taking a trip to the US sometime this year but I don't have any definite plans as to where specifically I should go.

So I figure that if I include an anime convention that would narrow things down a lot, plus I'm kinda interested to see what a big anime convention is like.

I can easily google this stuff myself but it's hard to find from google which ones are actually worthwhile, plus anime conventions are big scary things full of scary people. I was hoping I could meet up with someone I already know so at least I have one of those scary people on my side.

Thus I'm looking for...
1) An relatively large anime convention (though I'm not sure what counts as 'large' in the US
2) Which is on sometime between September and December.
3) Which somebody here is also planning to go to

Speaking of which... any of you guys going to comiket this summer?

Novelty has kinda worn off so not sure if I'll bother.

NYCC and PAX are probably the two you should look into. but they're superlargeheug and not exactly anime cons.

the anime con scene each year begins with anime boston (april...but not next year) and ends with otakon (august) or AWA (sept 28 this year), basically.

anime usa is in november, same time as PMX i believe. both are mid-size local cons.

there used to be that NYAF but who knows what will happen this year. (NYCC is oct 11-14)

I was also thinking before of switching to Canada and go the Blizzcon instead but that's been cancelled this year.

*sighs*

So not a lot of options at this point? I might have to rethink things, maybe come up with a new plan.
