Actually this epsidoe inspired a VERY semi-serious question in my mind.

If one were to make a ponified Kamen Rider...what would he or she ride? A scooter?

You should also be wondering why a pegasus would need aircraft. Or when it had problems, she didn't just jump out and avoid the crash. Or why a kitten would be in the jungle.

They just wanted to do an Indiana Jones episode and came up with a loose framework to put it around lol. Interesting stuff:

-Bad guy has a hand on his tail. WTF
-Stares Spike gets when he claims to be both smart and athletic.
-The hospital staff takes security really seriously.
-RD thinks an excellent disguise leaves her extremely notable and distinctive tail uncovered.
-Ponyville totes has socialist medical care. Which I guess works because the doctors have highly developed BS detection.
-RD really should read more, then maybe she'd figure out what a BOOK STORE or LIBRARY is.
-Pinkie Pie believes word choice is very important. She'd totally be a grammar Nazi online.

Agreed. The other thing that struck me during that episode, way back when Twilight Sparkle first wandered onto the Apple farm, Applejack introduces her enormous family. But when it's cider-making time, there's only... four of them? To the point that adding four more ponies (Twilight Sparkle is supervising I guess?) to the labor force is significant enough to outpace the machine. It seems that every Apple family member that hasn't had a speaking part in an episode has developed Chuck Cunningham Syndrome. (Although the page does say that this was addressed the last time Applejack was faced with a labor shortage, which I suppose is why "my friends will help me" can't be the lesson since she's already learned that one.)

I think they were mostly going for a John Henry thing, though the John Henry story itself is a Broken Aesop, since the machine really was better than human labor, John Henry was the only man who could keep up with it and not without dying of exhaustion.

Full agreement man. If it's the difference between GOING OUT OF BUSINESS or not, you'd think cousin Apricot Smiles could take some leave from the orange farm or whatever. The cakes have Pinkie work part time. Why can't the apples? Seriously, get chicken and Ms. AAAAAAAAA to help out. The CMC will try anything at least once...

And yeah, John Henry is total shit. People died working on the railroads. Often. That technology cost people jobs sure, but do we really want to keep all the people threshing jobs alive just to avoid paying immigrants and undesirable minorities anything?

As to the lesson, here's a couple off the top of my head:
-Don't make stupid bets.
-Don't allow insults to trick you into making bad decisions (rise above them).
-Traditions are great, but new ideas are great too. Don't be afraid to try them out!
-Just because you've "always done it that way" doesn't mean you're right. In fact, that might be the worst justification to do anything.
-You don't have to be friends with people to work with them.
-If you have the supply, you have the bargaining power.
etc etc

But nope, AJ is above "learning" things.

I think you're assuming too much of a "carpet matches the drapes" connection there, my friend.

This is the brony fandom. We make enitre backstories and personalities, for characters that never even made it past the ROUGH DRAFT stage.

"Reading into it too much" is the soul and fiber of this fandom alongside the love onf the poh neigh.

Somehow I think that even the canon of the show follows this rule.

Doctor Whooves is the Doctor; heck, I even think that Twilight Sparkle might be Stocking Anarchy.

Yeah, I saw the second one this morning... (didn't see the first when I was doing my webcomic rounds yesterday morning). It's just Randy's typical anime haet bleeding through.

Anyone remember what episode 1.16 was? I might have missed the elderict horror but the most evil things are often cute and cuddly.

It's funny because they have big eyes. Which makes the show bad somehow. Huh... that's not funny at all.

Besides that they are anthropomorphic talking horses, pegus, and unicorns in a universe of magic and mystical forces, it it is totally unrealistic that any girl would want her older brother to date her teacher.

Well she DID demonstrate trepidation about going along with it. The episode just did a Gilligan Cut instead of wasting minutes on the process of convincing her.
