Piro Piro you still haven't learned anything have you? Toyha won't explain unless you already know so theres only one thing to do. Thats right in order to find out anything you must be a internet stalker!
As for Largo i'm not surprised in the slightest. |

While I'm sure Mr and Mrs Hayasaka would love to see their daughter and meet her new boyfriend, I'm not sure the middle of the night is the right time for that.
Great Barrier Reef! You're right. Of course it's still very early, so they might not be open yet.
Honestly, I could see this happening. Miho still doesn't explain fully. Piro gets so interested / concerned / frustrated by the whole thing that he starts trying to figure it out himself. He could start with the websites Miho was just looking at, call in Largo for more online investigative help, and talk to Ping and maybe Yuki. It'd be a way for Fred to draw out the whole "what is Miho" reveal even more.

Watch the video of that model of train engine. It's powered from electrical contacts above the train, more than far enough above to allow someone to sit. Granted, the contacts do move, but I don't think they recess all the way into the body of the train even going into tunnels. And IIRC there aren't that many hills to go through on that route, at least not on the shinkansen. Shinkansen go through hills to maintain as straight a path as possible due to their high speed, but the kind of train Erika and Largo are riding is a freight hauler, hence much slower, and slow train lines are more likely to go around hills than through them, unless it's a really big hill. Which, again, you don't find much in that area. Dear Lord, I've become a train otaku. Kill me now! |

Excuse me for a moment.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Largo and Erika on a train! SW33tn3ss! (more insane laughing) That being said... uh, Miho? Honey? Maybe if you were a little less cryptic Piro would have a vague idea of what you're getting at. "You have to tell him. Men. Stupid." I don't know what that's from, but Dad likes to quote it. A lot. |

You all do realize this appears to be Fred's way of saying, "You ain't figuring this out till you're whupped up the side o' the head with a two-by-four"?

wow nice 2 in a week! congratulations mr.fred!
I have to agree with everyone here, Piro is ight, how can he understand if Miho would not explain a single thing of what is happening? Also, I just noticed that the miho fans/zombies might actually be a reference to us. after all, aren't we in the forums the ones who are trying to build/ find out here true nature? |

Thank you for the second post for this week, it was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.
So will Miho give into Piro's attempts to get closer, and understand her, or will the Largo call side track the potential mending? I have to wonder the amount of clearance provided in the subways of Tokyo, not that the l337ness of Larika can't handle such simple things as low hanging pipes and sign-age. Oh, and more boo cameos XD |

Is Larika an official term now? I think they're outside in the country, not in the subway, since the train is getting power from those electric wires above them (Fred's twitter links to a video of this). |

Miho's expresion in frame 6 answers that question, I think. It's like she's thinking 'I can't tell him the truth! he could never love the real me!' |

Larika or Erigo. Depends on who gets top billing...
Miyagi is definitely in the countryside, it'll be interesting to see what Fred draws for this. I have a metric boatload of pics from the shinkansen if he needs references. Mostly really boring, though... [edit for spelling and snark] This post has been edited by CaptainNerd on Oct 16 2010, 08:32 PM |

I like Larika, but let's face it: Hayasaka would be on top.

Oh I get it. Miho's cursed. If she states the truth the curse is triggered causing her magic girl powers to manifest a magic girl sailor suit that she can never take off and she's doomed to serve the needs of the first otaku who learns to understand her. (Kidding) LOL!
I'm just looking at Miho wanting to yell, "just say it!" Is it impossible that Piro might actually get what ever it is after it sinks in for a little while? * sits eating popcorn wondering what the next scene will bring * This post has been edited by mylemonblue on Oct 17 2010, 06:15 AM |

Now that I've thought about this some more, I think this makes a lot of sense. It is saturday, so they might be on the way to brunch with the Hayasaka's. And Largo is calling Piro to tell him that Erika won't be in for work or will be late, and Piro needs to cover for her. |

Yep, looks like she has become a complete and total "Largo nut-hugger" for sure... much to the chagrin of WK, I would say. Miho appears blubbery, whiney, melodramatic, addled, pissy, sniveling, and a whole lot of synonyms of those words in this comic. Miho is an onion: 1) She has a myriad of layers to peel one after the other in the search for your "answers." 2) Peeling her makes most folks want to cry and/or gag from the stench. 3) Each layer does not amount to much in the way of satisfaction. 4) You are really going to need to wash up afterwards. 5) And if you keep on apealing her layers off... you are going to end up with nothing in the end. Thank goodness for the last frame. Enter Largo and Erika. Maybe the fun and mayhem they can inject will finally lift this malaise that has cloaked this chapter as of late. Embrace and let the chaos flow, Fred. I bet it will help the comics flow onto your tablet more freely and rapidly. It is high time to have fun again! edit:
We men are not stupid as a rule, Brigid. We do, however, act stupid as a rule... if you expect it to corespond to a female mindset. The real problem is that we a not equiped with some kind of "crypto-telepathy" to desypher what a woman is thinking/feeling any given moment which may or may not have anything to do with what she is saying or how she is acting at the time she wants us to divine her feelings.
If a woman does not understand what I meant, I either shug and let it go or I explain it again until she gets pissed off which has always ended the conversation. Most of us men do not let it get us worked up if women do not have us completely figured out. it is not a deal beaker for us. This post has been edited by Teddy-Werebear on Oct 17 2010, 01:51 PM |

Sometimes, talking in cryptic language means we haven't figured it out completely ourselves, or haven't dealt with it ourselves. It's possible that Miho is being cryptic because thats the only way she knows to explain it to herself. When she can explain it calmly and in a less cryptic way, she'll have a better handle on the situation and be able to understand herself a lot more.
Hopefully, the outcome of this conversation (whether that will be here or in another place) will be that Miho explains it to Piro in a way that makes sense to both of them. (I mean that Miho doesn't understand how she feels about the situation she's in, not that she doesn't understand the situation.) |

Since 'nuthugging' applied to a female indicates that the female in question wishes she were male so she could be gay for the object of her nuthugging...well that's most disturbing to contemplate in regards to Erika Largo would be cool with it though |

Invisigoth? Kinda makes Erika into the Gibson Girl of his dreams doesn't it? I'm positive Largo isn't gay, and we know Erika isn't... so just be happy for them.

The “weird side” of Megatokyo is the world of ‘zillas, zombies, and magic girls, or, the things that Largo can see but Piro may or may not be able to. We have seen a number of important scenes related to this “weird side” which have taken place up above, at the level of the rooftops and power lines. So, to some extent, the rooftops and power lines have become associated with, or are perhaps even being used as a metaphor for, the “weird side” of Megatokyo. Probably the most important strip which shows this association/metaphor is one that you all were just talking about in this thread (link here) - strip [943], where Miho and Yuki are up on the power lines and Miho says, “Relax, Yuki. No one will see. They are as afraid to look up as we are to look down.” This metaphor, as it would seem, has two aspects, which often occur together but perhaps may occur independently. These two aspects are as follows: 1) Height. One example is the confrontation between Meimi and Junpei, in strips [715] and [717], which occurs partially at the rooftop level. 2) Electric power. Miho takes Yuki up onto the power lines to show Yuki that she is a magic girl ([942]), Miho and Yuki are wont to sit on power poles (one example is strip [1199] ), and Fred recently drew a whole electric power station as the background drawing for the cover of the printed version of Megatokyo Volume 6. So, in this latest strip, as we see evidence that Erika is perhaps moving somewhat closer to Largo’s way of looking at the world, perhaps it is significant that the two of them are sitting on top of an electric train? Now, for a couple of minor related points: As a contrast, I am reminded of how Erika reacted, at a time when she hadn’t yet spent that much time around Largo, in strip [554]. Now things have changed, apparently… Also, we have recently seen Largo use another non-standard mode of transportation, but that one, in contrast, was underground – strip [1150]. |
