Yes, but she mentions pictures that she has seen of you... (Why am I one of those who never seen anyone's pictures? >< )
Which, while I can agree about wearing black in pictures, doesn't actually say too much because black is also the color of a lot formal wear... But other than that, I can say that I do agree with Nekura about you being... well. You do have this... style. *coughs* One last thing... If ya don't like it, don't read it. There's plenty of space on the 'net for everyone... |

Well, the pictures of me that she's seen is kind of something I'm wondering about, too. I'm pretty sure the only one's I've posted around here are black and white drawings, so the color of my clothing would be rather hard to determine. Well, there is a photo of my on Photobucket wearing a black hakama and white kimono.

This makes me sad, because it implies that the ride is coming to an end sooner than later. I mean, I do want an eventual resolution, but having followed the comic since the early days (my forum join date notwithstanding, I read MT back starting from strip 39), hearing this is like hearing... well I'm trying to think of a tasteful analogy, but I can't. It's the sense of impending, rather than eventual, loss. |

No, I shall remain standing thank you very much, and to show what a gentlebear I can be Nekura... ladies first.
(Rinses face vigorously.) Thanks Kendermouse ever so much. I think that burn of bleach might purify me a bit after the way they were forcing swimsuit Miho in my face. (Points toward swimsuit Miho.) You missed a spot sweetheart... better safe and sure. I will go get my flame thrower. |

These threads are always amusing, if somewhat predictable. Someone posts something critical of MT, or of Fred's output, or whatever. This is rapidly followed by The Charge of the Fan Brigade, or whatever guise it's taking this week. Then the thread descends into either acrimony (and subsequent closure by a cranky mod) or silliness and roleplay (as is the case here).
But there's always something to laugh at. Having Invisigoth lead the fanboy charge was most amusing, especially if you've followed his career in these forums under its many names. Of course, there followed the obligatory misreading of the original post, the assumption that it was the same as every previous one, and the presentation of the usual arguments against something that wasn't said in the first place. And let's not forget all those straw men. The usual response then being, "if you don't like it then GTFO!" Such nice people we all are. Oh yes. Like all the really good threads of this type, Fred himself just couldn't resist chiming in. I'm still never sure if he gets defensive about the original post, or if he's embarrassed about the fanboy hordes so vigorously defending him. Now, there are probably many fandoms that get belligerent at any sort of criticism of their chosen object of worship. This one is renowned for its intolerance, close-mindedness and downright viciousness. A lot of people here can't seem to get their head around the idea that someone might really like something, yet still want it to be better. Pointing out what they'd like done better seems to be taken as some sort of ultimate blasphemy and a cue to unleash the attack dogs. It's still really funny reading the thread though. Shame about the roleplay and barely disguised flirting. That part gets a bit old. While I'm at it, there's one thing I don't understand. Why is it assumed that once someone has a child, they're incapable of holding down a full time job in the same way as before. I'm pretty sure that Fred isn't a single-dad either. I'm not making any complaints about output or whatever here, I just don't know why everyone puts it up as an excuse for him. (And I don't ever recall Fred himself saying anything along those lines). I'm pretty sure there's a hell of a lot of parents who work full time jobs. Think about it. In conclusion though, thanks for another entertaining thread. Remember kids, it's serious business. |

@ -The Saint- , actually these days Fred sits goes to his secret channel where we mock and ridicule people who start threads like this.
Just as we are mocking and ridiculing you even now! Addendum: having not seen you post in a while curiosity impelled me to review your past missives. When it comes to analysis you blow dead whales! That is all This post has been edited by Invisigoth on Sep 19 2009, 04:52 PM |

I never actually said 'gtfo' but I guess one could construe it that way...
And some of us wouldn't even notice a little nuking... we'd just continue along anyways, like nothing ever happened... I'll have me some of that radiated cake though... Also, brain bleach doesn't work on me, whooooooo! |

I never expect anything less from SD's fandumb, though I suddently want to write a Tennyson parody. Perhaps if the argument were structured a little more musically? Gallagher Killed the Internet Star To the tune of "Video Killed the Radio Star," with apologies to the Buggles I saw you in a bookstore back in '02 I'd refresh all night to see updates coming through Though just a n00b it didn't stop me loving you (Oh-uh-oh) Then things got boring when you split with l33t Largo Filling the strip with rot of sad girls in the snow Do you remember the game jokes used to go (Oh-uh-oh) I read your fan board (Oh-uh-oh) What are they mad for? (Oh-uh-oh) Gallagher killed the internet star! Gallagher killed the internet star! Plot lines came and stole the show (Oh-uh-oh) So now we're long past the Second Fanboy War We read the archives of the fun that came before Now when you update the pages are a bore (Oh-uh-oh) It was a fun strip (Oh-uh-oh) Too bad, a dull strip Gallagher killed the internet star! Gallagher killed the internet star! Angsty fans and angry rows We can't fast-forward the strip's too slow (Oh-uh-uh-oh) (Oh-uh-uh-oh) Gallagher killed the internet star! Gallagher killed the internet star! Angsty fans and angry rows We can't fast-forward the strip's too slow Plot lines came and stole the show Put the blame on Kimiko! You are~ an internet sta~r You are~ an internet sta~r Gallagher killed the internet star! Gallagher killed the internet star! Gallagher killed the internet star! Gallagher killed the internet star! I enjoyed the gamer jokes at first, but it was the plot and characters that kept me reading. Then when Kimiko and Piro got drunk at that bar, I was hooked hard. I have a hard time understanding why someone would prefer the old style. Not that the very early stuff was bad, just that the later stuff is so very very good.
Not as good as Wavebird_Ocelot's. But imagine old blue eyes singing to the tune of When I Was 17... When Rodney was here It was a very good strip It was a very good strip for gamer nerds Who liked Neverwinter Nights Romero jokes would delight And l33t speak would appear When Rodney was here When Rodney was here It was a very good strip It was a very good strip for impatient nerds Who can't wait for a week Simple jokes they would seek They had no reason to ph34r When Rodney was here When Rodney was here It was a very good strip It was a very good strip for shallow nerds For whom thinking is rare No plot? Didn't care Largo drank more beer When Rodney was here But now the plot is deep With sad girls in the snow And now it can touch you deep in your soul And Fred's artwork is great Yes sometimes that makes him late But it's a lot better, you hear Than when Rodney was here |
