I haven't seen any posts on this, at least not in recent history (i.e. since last year).

Trailers are up for ABC's remake of V. It looks like they're doing something that's somewhat BSG-ish in feel, I just hope it's in a good way

Long Trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahjPQjQGdbU

Short Trailer with Action Bits:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQoSCEMzJYE

As note: This series scared me !@#%less when I was younger. That said, I might actually want to watch this version, as long as they focus more on the story and less on the gore and the "Human Eating" bits--I felt (now I'm older) that the whole "Reptoid Aliens that eat Mammals" theme they had in the original series was entirely unnecessary (Almost as if they HAD to use the "To Serve Man" one-liner in it).

I hope they make this edgier but also more intelligent; the Aliens don't need to be carnivorous, just very smart, very media-savvy, and convincing in a real-world way.

Well if i remember correctly the Visitors were after all of the planets resources. They were draining all of the planets fresh water, and harvesting animals, and people. Then the ones left behind would die out.

Hmmm...I'm surprised no one else has commented on this thread.

You remember correctly, Yuppa. The aliens in V were essentially equivalent to the Imperial Ages (Spain, Portugal, Britain) in the sense that they came to less-technologically advanced peopls and bled their resources dry. The interesting thing is that they do it (relatively) the smart way--win the populace over.

One other note is that unlike the old series, the aliens in this version don't look nearly as militaristic (the original series aliens all wore red fascist-esque jumpsuits), which helps the realism of it a bit.

Pffffth...

All good alien invasions end with Will Smith throwing the peace sign while pulling the trigger on the bomb.

Now... V directed by Michael Bay, that might be something worth watching.

V. A film by Michael Bay.

Producer: So how's this gonna to work?
Michael: Oh, you know, the usual.
Producer: ...
Michael: Tell the pyro guys to bring an extra truckload this time. We ran out early in Revenge of the Fallen.

I liked V when I was in 6th grade. Which means I will probably still like it this time. But then it will probably be great then get canceled after one season because some suit at ABC didn't like the way his lunch tasted.

I have to say this has me slightly worried. I actually own the original series and movies, and they were one of my favorite things to watch when I was growing up.

I really hope they don't screw this up.

man. if they retain that inter-species star-child saving the world from nuclear death with deus ex machina ending, i'm gonna be sick.

i won't mind having another alien scientist killing another catholic priest though. that so made me wet.

It premieres tuesday on NBC for all those living in Ameristan.

Just thought you'd want to know, who's still interested in it (and isn't a believer in real reptoid aliens)

Saw the original, walked away from the TV in disgust when they introduced the hybrid reptile golden child that was going to save humanity.

Besides, no Marc Singer so it's going to suck like a Bangkok whore when the fleet is in port.

Nope, deathray eyes girl was a pure shark jumping moment. She was some random bullshit they tossed in at the end / start of the new mini-series. Daisy Mae gets boned by a horny lizard researcher and her totally human looking spawn can blow people up with her uber mind powers?

So it aired and I have to say it didn't grab me as much as I had hoped but I'm not throwing the towel in either.

The last 30 minutes made up for the, what I felt was, slow start to it all. The suspension of disbelieve had to be kind of high and the initial human/alien interactions needed it in my opinion. It felt stilted and rushed over in how humans would deal with giant floaty alien motherships. And I felt people were far too happy to get involved with them. I would have liked less handwaving healing human problems and more actively showing them earning humanity's trust.

I think if it picks up the tone and the pace of the latter half of the episode it'll be a decent show. And honestly I'm half inclined to say what I didn't like about the first part of it was just a pacing issue.

Agreed, pacing.

I'm in, if only because it's nostalgic (I remember when the original visited) and this looks like a clean retelling, warts and all. I hope they kick it up a notch, though I suspect it'll get all zomg '24esque.'
