Okay, Unless you've been under a rock, you know that the new Batman movie has opened to rave reviews and widespread fangasm. Fred-rin has even gotten in the act of celebrating with his creepy Y s0 s3ns1t1v3? DPD.

So, rescripters, your challenge this month is to sell your soul to the fad, get on the bat-wagon, and rescript MegaTokyo into Gotham! Have the characters discuss their views of the show, have them talk about the fans of the bat, even put them into the films or comic books themselves! (Bonus points to anyone who slips in a *POW!* *BAP!* or *ZOK!*)

You're arguably in the wrong thread, but I'll count that rescript as a win anyway because any Watchmen reference is cool, and especially since it's almost in-character. cool.gif

I sympathize with Ping. I thought for sure that movie would give me nightmares.

Okay, this is cheating a bit because I did it almost four years ago (don't revive the thread, please), but it's on topic and I imagine most people have forgotten it by now. I'm not going to apologize for it this time, because I enjoy your suffering.

Since the links in the thread are long dead, I put the others back up too, for the morbidly curious.
Completely unrelated conclusion.
Completely unrelated introduction.

Looking at them now, there are some issues with the text being too close to the edges of the bubbles. Maybe one day I'll go back and clean them up a bit.

Whoops. Just noticed a typo in the first panel. Just ignore it.
EDIT: Now it's fixed.

I remember reading somewhere that there is going to be a Watchmen movie.

I do seem to recall that Batman did use guns and actually kill people in the first incarnation.

Now to the topic. As usual, Brigid is in the running for 'win'. Now if only Negima was around..... ah, the rescripts would hit harder than the creme pies.... wink.gif

I read through Batman Chronicles recently (which has the first dozen or so Batman comics), and I'm 90% sure he didn't kill anybody intentionally, and quite certain he never used a gun. In fact, in one cheesy scene he even took a group of crooks' guns and let Robin beat the crap out of them, just to show the kids reading at home that these guys are cowards when they're unarmed.

The strict "no-kill" doctrine as we know it didn't come until later, though.

Ah... Well, I've never read any of the old Batman comics, only read histories of the comics. I could be misremembering something.

Thanks for the note. wink.gif

Hmm, I too have never read any early batman, but I had heard the stories of gun wielding Batman and Golden Age life is cheap mentality. A quick search revealed this evidence packed blog post. This confirms that he did squeeze off a few rounds and kill a few perps in his day, but also that he moved away from that pretty quick and swore off guns.

There isn't an emoticon with a big enough grin here.

I can probably come up with another rescript.

Edit: How about two for the price of one?

I made both because I wasn't quite loving the first one but thought it worth a shot, but I figured SDFW deserved better so I made another one.
