A Fairytale of MegaTokyo

It was bed-bath time in
orthopaedics
the nurse was comin' in - she had an evil grin
I begged her not to come -
she said she'd send my mum
I caved in straight away
and thought about you . . .

And then I saw your face
- you hangin' there in space -
I see you're bleeding
I'm scared you're zombified
How can I help you?
I really like you
but your want's impossible
and you are petrified.

There are zombies with guns,
giant robots galore.
But they fired big harpoons, pinned
your new pet to the floor.
When you first "rescued" him,
took him out of that pen,
you didn't think
he'd never see it again.

He was scaly,
you a meido,
Queen of MegaTokyo!
After Largo had briefed you
'Zilla gave a roar!
The zombie stench of death
burned off in his fire breath,
you sent me the photos
and I gazed in fright!

And the zombie rangers chomped away
On the 'zilla's wounds they'd made
and they turned your little pet
into their slave!

You are cute
but you're stuck!
Yes you're right out of luck
with your big zombie pet groaning out in the yard.
You're a n00b but you're magic
and you look so tragic
I will search for a cure
and I'll find one for sure!

Out of the window now
(I couldn't see quite how)
I took your hopes away
when you came to me.
I'll send them back to you
if I do nothing else
I think you need me and
your smile's what I need to see.

The "chorus" gets repeated in various places when this is performed and I've followed the rhyme scheme in so far as it has one. Enjoy, or not.

Nice one, Sax. I feel a little Christmas-y every time I think of that song, and it's not an easy one for rhymes. Smashing job.

Fairytale of New York City by the Pogues and Kristy MacColl.

Fairytale of New York City

Same song as sung by Piro and Seraphim in the comic in a Christmas DPD.

Beautiful - brought a tear to my eye, it did.

Well, maybe not a tear, but great stuff nonetheless. ^_^

Also, because it's getting traditional for me, added to CWDB.

@Ocelot: It's Kirsty MacColl rather than Kristy - I don't know if that's why the link to the original lyrics isn't working at CWDB. Other than that it's nice to have another entry in the CWDB - kinda like being famous!

Oh, and the whole thing is being sung by Yutaka of course - does he not get a keyword? Or isn't there one yet for him?

Whoops! Fixed now.

BTW, anytime you or anyone else notices a mistake with titles, attributions, tags, or whatever else, feel free to let me know either via PM or post in a relevant thread. There's also an issue report available, which you can find right on the front page, though just PM'ing me would probably get the problem fixed sooner.

Although, the last time I used the report, I got a PM from codepoetica telling me I'm now an editor, so fix it my own damn self. Not in those words, of course, but the story's otherwise mostly true. ;)

When I edit a work, I don't enter tags manually. Instead, there a few lists of buttons than can be checked for type of fanwork, characters, etc. Since the current version of the archive was set up before Kobayashi was introduced, he doesn't have a tag. How difficult it would be to add him, I don't know. Codepoetica would be the one to ask about it. Actually, I may ask him about it myself next time I have a spare moment.
