Large Version: here.

This was drawn on request for Ping to be playing chess but I had a more interesting spin on the concept. smile.gif I like how her dress turned out although it's obvious that the pawn is a bit crooked. Plus I'm amused of the rarity of a queen getting pwn3d by a pawn. Save yourself, Ping!

Said the Pawn to Queen Ping:
"You had better take wing,
"'Cuz I'm crowding your square, doncha know?
"I've got friends at my back,
"I am on the attack,
"And I'm almost up to the last row!"

Said Queen Ping to the Pawn:
"I'm aware that you long
"To advance two more steps and switch gender,
"But you're backward, poor chap,
"You go this way, not that!
"So I'm sorry, your last move's an ender."

Edit: btw, you need either to change the color of Ping's clothes, or the color of the pawn, 'cuz right now they look like they're on the same side!

I find it ironic that Ping, a game accesesory (a pawn of her player), is now shown in a role of authority and power. It'd be funny and more ironic to see the pawn drawn with Piro hair and a hoodie. smile.gif Who would the king be in that game? Sony?

Also, is it just me or does it look like the pawn just asked Ping a question she doesn't know the answer to?

So the pawn moved from Minnesota? Or was that phrase from Wisconsin?

Anyway nice pic Wizofkit and great poetry Shoka (like that surprises anyone)

Actually, I guess I was thinking that the pawn would be black (unless people would like a gothy queen-Ping...) but would mess with the CGer (whether that'd be me or not is another question. ^^;; )

But yay for Shoka-poem!

QUOTE (FreezingFire)
Also, is it just me or does it look like the pawn just asked Ping a question she doesn't know the answer to?

`And you do Addition?' the White Pawn asked. `What's one and one and one and one and one and one and one and one and one and one?'
`I don't know,' said Queen Ping. `I lost count.'
`She can't do Addition,' the White Pawn interrupted. `Can you do Subtraction? Take nine from eight.'
`Nine from eight I can't, you know,' Queen Ping replied very readily: `but -- '
`She can't do Subtraction,' said the White Pawn. `Can you do Division? Divide a loaf by a knife -- what's the answer to that?'
`I suppose -- ' Queen Ping was beginning, but the White Pawn answered for her. `Bread-and-butter, of course. Try another Subtraction sum. Take a bone from a dog: what remains?'
Queen Ping considered. `The bone wouldn't remain, of course, if I took it -- and the dog wouldn't remain; it would come to bite me -- and I'm sure I shouldn't remain!'
`Then you think nothing would remain?' said the White Pawn.
`I think that's the answer.'
`Wrong, as usual,' said the White Pawn: `the dog's temper would remain.'

I love the concept, and hope somebody CGs this. Of course, Shoka's poem was also worth a big ol' biggrin.gif

Gothy Ping? Well, lately her clothes styles have seemed to be influenced by Miho... Might be apropriate, in fact. I mean, look at those boots! They need to be black!

Wonderful stuff!

Especially Ping's expression and some of the details, like the Playstation button symbols on her dress.

Ah, a much better reference than what I was thinking of (what is six times nine?). I've always loved Alice and-- wait are those Playstation buttons on her dress? Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle! laugh.gif

heh that's funny (not really but its ironic sort of) she's a game accesory in a board game yet she's wearing clothes that are "advertising" the PlayStation

You should put Largo's face on the top of the pawn.

And I love her outfit (noteably the playstation buttons).

Woman begins by resisting a man's advances and ends by blocking his retreat.

And when it comes down to it, aren't all men (and not a few women) pawns of a pretty face.

I just noticed the location of the playstations buttons on her dress. Normally there would be nothing wrong with that, except that my brain now wonders what her "special code" is... and I am disturbed that I wonder how a fictional character likes to have her "buttons" pressed.

*sigh*........... break is over. back to work

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
It just does not seem like a fair matchup now does it. I am of course thinking of BattleChess and its many incarnations... going all the way back to the now archaic but very enjoyable Archon.

You think about doing an Mt based lineup of BattleChess WoK?

Battlechess... Now that was classic! The queen was nasty when she took things. As appropriate.

Hmm. Never heard of it, but wikipedia is a good source of information! I might give it a shot after I finish working on the art for my poem book in school. ^^;

Sweet drawing. The pawn might look more goofy if it had Ed's head though.

Wow.

I almost never post in fanart threads- or CG threads, or SD Fanworks at all, for that matter. I just lurk, when I'm bored.

But this picture makes me happy.

For one, it's Ping, and everybody knows I'm a huge sucker for Ping. But the thing that grabs me is that the Ping in your drawing is, well... Ping. It feels like Ping, the usual MT Ping we all know and love. You successfully captured the character, and I think a lot of that is because she looks cute.

The way she has her left arm out like that. The expression on her face. The way her right arm is out a little bit, the crown, perched on her head at that angle... and the feet; the way their posed... oh hell, I'm no artist, I can't quantify it, it just looks good, you know?

I love the boots, and the legs. You really got the proportions down well there- for some reason that's my favorite part of the drawing.

So, in short, I loved this drawing. I right clicked and "saved as" instantly. Mad props, man.

I know what the Megagear store needs! An MT themed Chess set!. Piro Pawns, Largo Rooks, Piroko Bishops, Miho would be the Black Queen of course.

I know I'd buy one.

*grins* very cute. >< Due to the fact that I read the entire online archive of Tsubasa Chronicles recently, I am reminded of the version of chess on one of the worlds. I wonder how Ping..or any of the cast of Megatokyo would fare when gameplay is based on the strength of your will...

Ahem, back on topic, it's very cute and really does seem as if she and the pawn are talking about something.
