A friend referred me to to a web page that lists 10 GIMP tutorial sites. I haven't looked at any of them myself, but FWIW here they are.

Decided to be useful and compiled a list of the colors I use on some of the MT characters.
First three are hair, next two are skin, last one is eye color (except for Kimiko, who has 2 because--this is me) This post has been edited by Shannon M. on Aug 7 2008, 06:40 PM |

Well, it's not so much a tutorial as just an example of how I do things. It's pretty simple.
(Oh, and if you don't like the music, feel free to mute it. I just put it there because watching in silence is sort of boring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uR9LCg6bDI |

Wow, KM! That was really cool! You are quite talented. Also, the music fits nicely with Kimiko's expression. Bittersweet. |

Ah, I see your cg method is to paint the colors first before cleaning up the edges. Good for soft shades. I tend to do it the reverse since it's diffcult for me to visualise the shading using your method.
It's been a long time since I came across Elements, the new dark interface is very sleek. Which screen capture program did you use? |

Shannon, I love you. Did I ever tell you that? I think I have...But I love you again
Mayvelle...You've made me want to try and shade like that now...I never really thought about doing it like that.......Damnit, and I need to do homework as well >.< And so I did try it...Took about 40-60 mins...Seemed to take longer than normal, but actually didn't. Slightly surprising there. ![]() I certainly like the hair better than normal...Skin is so-so, jacket is ok...Any comments or criticism from those more knowledgeable in the art of good cging for me? Ungh...I just realised this is in fact not the dump thread...I am an idiot... This post has been edited by Dispozition on Aug 25 2008, 04:10 AM |

Well, with the skin you can always try varying shadow depth, especially up near the point where hair meets skin. Otherwise, not bad for your first attempt with it... Better than how mine can out.
@hikaru: I used Debut from NCH Software. This post has been edited by Kinda_Mayvelle on Aug 25 2008, 03:37 AM |

Has CGing been stopped, or moved elsewhere? I can't find a CG thread since [1292].

It just ... dried out. Our most prolific CG-ers are girls, and most of them 'graduated' SDFW to move on to (we hope) bigger and better things. |

And of those few of us who aren't girls just haven't really found the time. Doing those things takes a while :/

I would cg, but just haven't had the time to devote to it. I am planning on taking advantage of some of the more recent comics to CG since I downloaded the unhatched versions, but as always, school, work, family, and everything else come before art.

This coupled with the fact that my tablet is dead. I'm sure once one or two of us get back into the swing of things it'll pick up again...Whenever that is. |

Stuff seems to come and go. The haiku team died off a while ago too.
