So I'm checking my MT e-mail at work and see a really long e-mail waiting for me, entitled "E3 & MMORPG Suggestiong [sic]"

I read about a paragraph of it, and then I see this:

QUOTE
Hiya Dom!
I've E-mailed you a couple times before.  About random stuff like your
Grandfather, FFXI, and how I'm your #1 Fan!  It probably not true
though...and I used to sign as LockhartFF7.
Anyway...It sounded like you had fun at E3.

Emphasis mine. Okay, people, now I'm going to extract sentences from my various E3 rants and would like to ask you how anyone can get the idea that this was fun, rather than 12-hour days at work kicking my ass.

From the May 17th rant:

- But given how stressed I was,
- And after the food deprivation that marked the rest of the show, it was very, VERY good. It was especially nice given that it was again my first solid food of the day
- I was working, dammit!
- As a sidenote, due to the severe stress I underwent while working E3, the next MT fan who says to me "I envy you so much for going to E3" will be punched. Not hard, just punched. Because if you want to go for fun? More power to you. If you want to be me and work 12 hour days with little food and no rest? You're an idiot.
- if I'd had food in me, I might have vomited gleefully, Roller Coaster Tycoon-style.

From the May 13th rant:

- It's two-thirty, and in a wild imprvement from yesterday, I have had a decent meal at this point of the day.
- After a blessed, blessed hour of sitting down
- I'm tired, need steak and am going to try and eat it raw.

From May 12th:

- I was seriously ready to jump out of Greg's car, yell "I REGRET NOTHING!" and hop off the highway, hoping to jump far enough to splatter
- Blessedly, I had my first twenty or so minutes of free time here.
(note that in the same paragraph, I mention that it was around 2:30)
- yes, boys and girls, my first non-pretzel solid food (The pretzels were at BioWare) came at 4 PM in Atlus' room.
- If you'll excuse me I'd like to collapse in a heap in the corner and take perhaps an hour of free time before dying.

So. With all of that information there, who would think that I had FUN at E3? And why? Do they no longer teach reading comprehension in schools?

Each and every little E3 famboy is gonna say that's fun, if you made them go through what you did, they'd just smile and do it, cause they're going to E3! OMFG E3, Ican't believe it, I'm going to E3!!!![/fanboy]

Me on the other hand, see what you're talking about, hell, just going to a computer expo in Dallas last year for the school newspaper was a bitch, I couldn't even comprehend having to write about all the shit at E3. I don't envy you, I sota pity you for having to go through that.

The main difference being that forum vets rarely dedicate as many words to the subject as I have wink.gif

And if some of you're still wondering, I'm a freelance writer. Tech in general, but with specialties in Japanese tech/culture, and video games.

No. They give me a paycheck every week and the chance to write articles about my hobbies for one of the biggest tech magazines in the world, though. I kind of consider that a plus.

Didn't think about that... However, after what Mr. Dom said, E3 kinda scares me now. But the free games amenity does own.

From what I've heard E3's like some sort of like the sweatiest annoyingest games store you've ever been in, but with more buxom ladies. So I'll pass (nothing to do with the fact that getting me there would use up most of my student paper's yearly budget).

The ECTS on the other hand... that's the right sort of thing (nothing to do with the fact that getting me there would use up my weekly beer budget and little else).

I feel your pain. I really do. I've handled idiots at an Anime Con only twice in my life (I helped man an RPG gamer group), so I certainly don't envy getting peppered with mails like that--much less the assumption that people who either staff the booths or write up reports on the happenings "Have fun" at such occasions.

I forgot what the reason was, but on at least one occasion, I had to assist in BODILY removing a certain annoying person bugging our booth. (I think I posted it previously, though)

Be that as it may, I'd like to suggest EAGames to release a new series of interactive stress-relief games based on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
