Just for the heck of it, I thought I'd try my hand at something marginally creative today. I therefore present my first (and possibly last) Megetokyo filk - an homage to the sublime comedy that is Pinky and the Brain.
They're Largo and the Boo, They're Largo and the Boo, A gamer and his conscience, Their virtue is true A-hunting they will go, In Megatokyo, For 3v1l, They're Largo and the Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo. Before each day is done, Their l33t skillz will be called By the setting of the sun, They'll slay the zombie hordes. They're Largo and the Boo, Yes, Largo and the Boo, Their noble campaign Is easy to explain, To save the world they know They'll battle Queen Miho, They're doomed, They're Largo and the Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo. "Squeek!" |

An outstanding filk to a very appropriate basis tune. As far as I can tell it scans perfectly and is at least as singable as the original. Well done!

Thanks for the praise, guys - I had fun writing it, so I'm glad you enjoyed reading it.
Elyscape: Thanks for the stars! In reply to: I guess I really ought to. Do you have a manifesto? |

I wanter to try writing a filk to this song, but I never got around to it. Knowing that this song now has a Megatokyo filk (and such a funny one as well), lets me rest easier tonight.
Two nitpicks: "Their l33t skillz will be called" is a little difficult to ennunciate properly at the speed it must be sang, and They'll battle Queen Miho," by the very nature of the song, puts a little to much stress on the last syllable of Miho's name. They aren't really technical problems, but I just feel that they are a little uncomfortable to sing. |

In reply to: One thing I've never been quite sure of is the pronounciation of 'l33t' (always a potential problem with a dialect that's generally never spoken) - is it meant to be pronounced simply as the word it represents, "elite", or as the single-syllable word it appears to be? When reading, I mentally pronounce it the latter way, but if it's supposed to be pronounced with two syllables, then I agree, that line doesn't scan. In that case, 'm4d' could be substituted for 'l33t'. In reply to: Again, I think this is down to my own interpretation of pronounciation. To me, the pronounciation implied in the lyrics was more-or-less the way I'd imagined her name being pronounced. If it's meant to have more emphasis on the first syllable, I can see that it might not fit here. Is there a guide to Megatokyo name pronounciation available? It would be handy if I try any future compositions. |

In reply to: LOL. Yeah, I did at least manage to figure out Piro's name on my own. By the way, I guess that 'thirsty' link is meant to point at a Piro-pronounciation FAQ, but when I click on it (or manually enter the URL), I'm redirected to this advert for anti-pop-up software. I'm not sure if that's down to your link or my web set-up. |

Well, the chibi-Piro doll we see has the katakana "pi" on it, so I would presume that "Piro" would be pronounced using Japanese phonetic rules, in which case it would be "pee-row". As for names in general, the Japanese language does not place stress accents on words, so all names would be pronounced with equal stress on all the syllables. The five vowel sounds in Japanese are "ah" (a), "ee" (i), "ooh" (u). "eh" (e), and "oh" (o).

Sorry, it was supposed to point you to the MT Drinking Game Rules, but it's no big problem, you can also find the link in Dom's sticky.

Weird - that link redirects me to the same ad page, as does the main link for the Readers' Guide to Megatokyo, but not the mirror site. Some kind of problem with web1000.com, perhaps? Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

This is very well done, but it makes me think about what would happen if Largo tried to take over the world. Not that he hasn't before, I'm sure, but picture this:
Largo uses his l33t sl<:llz to molds his computer into a thing that can operate at the same level as brain wave patterns, and can effect the human brain through his computer, becoming a God of sorts. (Yes, I know I am ripping off Lain, for those of you who have seen it, but Largo's computer is starting to look quite a bit like Lain's recently anyhow, so I thought I'd bring it up) So all the human race thinks about now is killing zombies and getting drunk... sounds good to me! |
