Speed Paints Until The Thread Gets Too Big!, Warning: May Contain Artistic Nudity

Speed Paints

The idea:
Speed painting can make some beautiful images, emotive scenes and fantastic characters but I think the main strength of speed paints is an educational one.
Attempting to create a fully rendered image within a limited time frame teaches the artist to look for the important aspects of an image. To examine it with a critical eye, boil down and abstract the image to its vital components and to get these ideas on to a ‘canvas’ in a recognizable form. Such an education, I feel, is priceless when it comes to creating all types of images. The other benefit is that speed painting seems to teach such things at a notably rapid pace. Looking over the speed paints created by those who have thrown themselves into this activity with a certain dedication, you can see the marked improvement over a period of time as short as six months to a year.

So if you are not doing so already why not join in. We don’t bite.

How long is a speed Paint:
The time frame is truly up to you as only you know how long you usually take to render an image and thus what is fast to you, But as a general rule, try to keep yourself under 2 hours as a restrictive time frame is important to the exercise.

Previous Speed Paint threads:
The speed paint sticky is removed and replaced on a regular basis to prevent an intimidating ongoing slab of a thread from forming over the forum. But the old speed paints are not lost to the void, they can be found by searching for “speed paint (month)“; last month's thread can be found here.

30 min exactly. I usually suck at this and yet plleased with my first.
So I think its downhill from here on.

here's a painting i did as a request, sorry about the lighting, my scanner cant hold anything larger than 8.5 x 11 and wont let me scan a larger pic multiple times for some reason or another.
