Yanno, Yuki's suggestion does make "some sort of sense", in a way. The DJ there understood that "her story was ending". Maybe he's clued in on what actually happens in the background.

w00t comic!
"Someone insane with a car." Hilarious. Hmm. Miho rejects the Yuki's Deilvery Service option. I'm guessing the "science class" thing means that the damage Yutaka has taken from the yoinking would also happen to Largo. Very sweet stuff from Yutaka. He's lying there in pain, but still sticking up for Yuki. He's a nice boy. Interesting comment about Meimi. It sounds like Meimi would be an effective option, but somehow Miho doesn't want to do that to "her story". Is it that a Meimi rescue would drag her back into the magical grrl trade that she has chosen to retire from? Or is it something else? Ping is also rejected. It's sad that Miho thinks Ping has no story of her own. Is she right? I hope not. And finally at the end, Yuki comes through with the answer. It sounds like a good one too. Kenji and company to the rescue. If that turns out to be the solution, it does add another layer of separation between the CoE folks and the fanboy horde. The dance club zombies aren't just the fanboys, only more so. They're fundamentally different somehow. Hmm. |

I don't think she means the patrons of the club, I think she means the employees. Like the lip-ring guy who's name I can't remember and am too tired and lazy to look up.

Why did I get a strange sence of doom from Miho once Yuki mentioned the Cave?

There's Dom. But that's a path you really don't want to take.
Thank you for updating, Fred. I appreciate it, and I hope things are being non-hectic for your family. (By the way, is your son going to be attending kindergarden or other school this year? If so, I bed he's psyched. |

It's interesting how protective Miho seems to be of Yuki, especially given her constant insults and complaints about magical girls. Presented with an obvious solution, calling Meimi, she refuses to take that path not because of hinted-at old wounds of her own that might be opened but because of the adverse effects to Yuki's story. Come to think of it, how much does Yuki know about her mother being a magical girl? Meimi doesn't seem to have told her about her adventures with Miho, at least.
As for the CoE, that might not be such a bad idea. The staff there is probably the closest Miho has to a family that we've seen so far. Someone on staff would be an okay pick to extract them. But not Kenji. He may know (or think he knows) a lot about Miho, but when she showed up unexpectedly, he immediately reverted to primal zombie-horde behavior, just like the CoE patrons. He couldn't accept what was happening, so he became part of the horde. A much more likely candidate to call would be Komugiko. She was one of the few characters to remain sane in the chaos at the CoE last night, acting surprised but not turning into a zombie. I also feel she deserves more screen time and backstory, particularly if that drawing Fred posted a while ago with her and Miho in their younger days is supposed to be canon. Ah. I had thought Miho meant Meimi's story. Yuki's story probably does make more sense. In the sense that MT seems to use it Meimi's story as a magical grrl seems over, even she's still doing a few things on the side.
Yuki clearly knows Meimi is/was a magical grrl with the same powers as her [1176]. As far as the adventures with Miho, we haven't seen Meimi mention them directly to Yuki, though it's possible she was referring to them in [1298]. Yuki was present when Miho first revealed her past connection to Meimi [800]. But that was veiled enough that I'm not sure Yuki understood, even though Masamichi clearly did. Later on at the notspital, Miho told Yuki about it straight out [1257]. But Yuki was upset enough that it's possible it didn't click for her.

Hmm... I don't know about that Yuki, Cave of Evil group seem to be okay with Miho as a plaything, even if they do love her. I guess Waltah is a possibility though.
Lets look at the other possibilities: Junko: Not insane... or at least she wasn't until lately, she's started to become part of Largo's world, so maybe she'd be willing to accept anything around Miho as "normal"? Yanagisawa: Well... is it enough to give him some cover story? "Fanboys are after us" might be enough to cover it for him... would that mean Miho is locked back into story mode though? Geez... that's it isn't it. This post has been edited by Sackett on Jul 29 2012, 04:07 PM |

Technically, she doesn't. The only thing she has are what the programmers give her. She wasn't born like a human, with the experiences that humans have as they grow and age. She just has what they give her as the starting point without having that, and just goes from there.
Not just any of the employees. Whoever suggested "Waltah" had better remember that he's getting up there in age. I don't think he's up for travelling behind the scenes. Kenji, on the other hand, seems to hint that he knows something about what's going on behind the scnees (see comic 1227, last panel for details). He's young enough and healthy enough, and if he's aware of the "behind the scenes" world, he just might be the thing that Kobayashi needs to get to a hospital. Characters is a reserved word, if you want to use it as a table name, you have to put it brackets. |

I don't agree. Just as you are more than a skin bag containing water and organic molecules, Ping is more that just hardware and software. She has feelings; she has life; she has a soul. Sony surely didn't intend for that to happen, but it did. She's real. And it's such a shame that assholes like Mr and Mrs Ibara, and sometimes even friends like Largo, Piro, and Miho, don't treat her that way.
The big concern there is that he'd surely get captured by the enemy and turned against our heroes. Old or not, he's still the angel of death.

It's true that Ping has a self, but we've also seen that that "self" can change drastically when her programming attempts to insert her into a story. She was literally designed to be a blank slate that can become a part of any story. Even though she's gained consciousness outside of that, that part of her nature hasn't changed. If they called in Ping she would end up assuming a role in this story: she'd have to. She wouldn't be able to prevent it. And that would, as far as I can tell, have the same effect as calling an ambulance would: a storyline would suddenly appear out of nowhere. While her conciousness does seem to exist independently, she still hasn't actually escaped the nature of her design. So... I could vote for Komugiko. She's less likely to draw attention than Kenji, but seems independently knowledgeable about the story enough that her presence wouldn't likely trigger the situation Miho fears. The only question is if there's some other reason why the COE folks can't get involved in this. This post has been edited by Random Wanderer on Jul 29 2012, 07:40 PM |

Okay, has anyone else noticed that Yuki responded to Miho's musings in english? and not the broken english she used with Dom either. I believe this is significant.

If you use a language often enough you become better at it. What's so significant about that?
I used to be able to read and write in the font used in Star Wars 10 years ago fluently. Now it's like attemptin to read runes. |

Well, lets see, Yuki just a short time earlier on the same day spoke to Dom in broken english. And she hasn't spoken english to anyone else since then, so I don't see her practicing english in the meantime. It is significant because not only did she answer Miho's musings in english, she understood Miho talking in english. |

One random thought on this. I've heard it said that people lose their grasp of a foreign language in stress situations and the Dom situation could reflect the fact that Yuki had a gun pointed at her and was in an emotional state beside. Now she's in a different sort of stress situation that requires her to be a clear thinker rather than a *fast* thinker so she might not have that problem now. That said, I seem to recall that her english interactions with Piro and Largo were also in broken English so I still wouldn't rule out the idea of your surmise being correct. |

I love the way Kobuyashi-kun comes to Yuki's defense. "She scores... really high... in science..." Kinda missing the point, but love it!

... Kenji and Waltah would work, but is Yukata's mom unknown to the mantle or are the older brothers just too much of a danger? Kobiyashi has at least one, and we know about Yuuji. Is Yuuji like kryptonite?
I believe in Ping. Miho should too. |

Yeah, well you clapped to bring Tinkerbell back as well, unlike us cynical people who shouted out to the screen "fairies aren't real! fairies aren't real!"
