Hi, welcome to Demon Hunters. Before you continue further, please familiarise yourselves with the story so far:

CHapter 1

and

Chapter 2

If you have further questions about the story, AFTER reading these, please feel free to ask one of the regulars. The official GMs, however , are Jackar and Foxy, though all of us are willing to answer questions. As for me, I am the GM that is not a GM.

Some background: The world is in sword and sorcery tech level. Magic is divided into four general element, air, water, fire, and earth, all all magic is a derivative of one or more of these elements. The world has been devestated by a cataclysmic event, causeing the rifts and letting demons pour into the world. Humans have banded together in huge fortress cities, and a stalemate of sorts have ben reached.

Your character will be human, demon, or half demon. The profiles of the original characters have become useless, as all the characters have changed and outgrown them in the course of the story. STill, feel free to follow the orginal profile model.

My main character is Armani. I also introduced, Darius (the current big bad guy), Sy, Maginus, Versace, the Korenso, Levi+ CK, and most recently Luen, and the Knights Hoplar (though they have only been mentioned).

I do not reccomend, as a new player, that you make any NPCs. Other regulars have thier own NPCs which they may or may not tell you about.

PLease follow the general rules of RPing, and especially respect other's characters.

As for the oldbies, you know what to do, story on!

And here is the combined Demonology Primer-

QUOTE
And now for a quick Deamonology Primer.

Chapter 1:

Deamonic Possesion and Parasitic Deamons (hear out reffered to as Paras)

Possesion by non para deamons is very different from paras. While deamonic possesion can take many different forms, and have many different results, parasitic possesion is more or less universal, as it is part of the para's biology (in so much as deamons have biology).

First and foremost, parasitic possesion can only occur if the host is unconsious or asleep. Once the para takes the host, the host's psyche remains unconsious or asleep, until the para is itself rendered unconsious, or forcebly expelled. If the para is rendered unconsious, the host will awaken, but the para will eventually retake control. From that point, it will be a constant fight of wills for control of the body.
Also, if a para has occupied a host for an extended length of time (century or so), the host's psyche will gradually awaken, but will not gain control of the body. The ffect will be like the deamon gradually developing pschyzophrenia. At first it will hear a voice that isnt its own, then more and more, thier thoughts and attitudes will mingle. In affect, the personalities will rub off on each other, though the two psyches remain independant.

Parasitic possesion has a few effects on the host. First off, the host body become, for all essential purposes, demonic. They become stronger, faster, and heal at an exponential rate. How much more so depends on the host and the deamon itself. A strong host and a strong demon will result in a spectacular level of strength. Regardless, even a possesed child will have strength greater than any human. Also, the host will not age while possesed.

Second, upon the initial possesion, any physical injuries the host has, barring removed and charred limbs, will be healed. Cuts will close, punctures will seal, bones will mend, and light burns will go away. Even old scars will dissapear. This is a survival mechanism for the paras, in case they must take a very damaged host. So powerful is this one time healing, it is possible to revive someone who was recently (read, within minutes) killed, provided of course all the needed organs are still present. However, the possesion cannot rid the host of disease or poisons. Normally Deamons are not affected by them, but they will remain in the body and probably kill the host once the deamon vacates it.

Moving on, Paras can only fully posses and control true humans. Demons are a no go, and half demons present problems of thier own. The demonic blood in the half will enable the host's psyche to easily resist the Para's control, basically making the para a passanger. However, if the Para is allowed control of the body, or the host is rendered unconsious (it will recover on its own), then the para will not only posses its own powers, but will be able to use those of the half. However, since those powers are not naturally thiers, they will be clumsy in its use.

Now we get to the interesting part: Sex. Genders for paras are basically determined by the type of host they prefer, though they can take both sexes. When it comes to mating, alot is determined by the host's gender, and the mates race. A male para's offspring will be determined by the female mate. A female human will have a human, half will have a half, and full will be a demon. Female paras will always birth humans with para demons already in them(thus, in effect, having twins), unless the para is expelled before the third trimester, in which case the child will be a human. Otherwise, upon birth, the childe para will flee the bbaby host, and seek out a better host. The left baby will grow to be a normal human, though they may bear psychological scars as a result of thier conception.

Para demons do not die if thier host is physically killed. They must be killed outside of the body, or the host must suffer a chatostrophic demise through magical means.

Demonology Primer Chapter 2:

Construct Demons

"Construct Demon" is a term for a B or higher level magical construct. The nature of their construction grants them a self-sustaining physical form, as well as independent thought. They're also able to freely manipulate magic, and have heightened durability. Their attributes vary greatly, because the creation of such creatures is so difficult. It requires a great deal of power, and a skilled(or lucky) conduit in order to succeed.

There are four steps in creating a construct demon.

1)Get a conduit, and making absolutely sure they are skilled in their craft.

2)Find yourself a focus. You can use just about anything for a focus, from people to inanimate objects. Remember that the focus will be the default form of the construct you create.

3)Gather a large quantity of magical power, ambient or otherwise. Common sources include the corpses of recently killed magic users or demons, actual spells, ancient battlefields, execution sites, sieges, massacres and large house-parties.

4) Using your conduit, bind magical power to the focus. At this stage you're able to directly influence the attributes of the construct. This includes disposition, mental capacity, magical ability, size and flavor. Make sure your conduit is loyal to you and your plans before this point. If you made any catastrophic errors before this point, it will be obvious, because your conduit will either die a horrible death, or your incomplete construct will run amuck and likely destroy itself.

Construct Demons are extremely rare in the human world, due to the difficult of finding channelers and ingredients, but they're fairly common on the other side of the Rift, where there is a growing industry, in order to support the expansionist agendas of certain demon warlords. Skilled conduits enjoy a sort of celebrity status, much like that of a skilled swordsmith or artisan in the human world. One such conduit would be S'Roai Vair, an eccentric of the Master Class. He will only make one construct per customer, per decade, but the quality of his work is unsurpassed.

Another way to create a construct demon is through summoning rituals. The rituals usually describe the ingredients, and the method of binding but the focus and the conduit are one and the same. This type of construct is almost always seen in the human world.

While the existence construct demons are well documented, there are still many elements that remain unknown.

Demonology Primer, Chapter 3: Animorphic Demons

Just as there are many animals in The World, there are just as many of thier perverted forms in the Otherworld. These are generally called Animorphic demons, but are usually reffered to as the specific animal they represent. In the world, they posses the ability to change from the natural animal form (with some demonic hints in the eyes) to thier true quasi anthro forms, on top of the demonic strengths possesed by almost all demons, not to mention traits common to thier natural animal base forms.

The most common animorphic demons in the World are those with feline, canine, and equinine traits, and those of carrion bird (ravens, condors), and bird of prey traits. These demons posses a nescessary trait of some kind to pass through the rifts on thier own , be it strength, intelligence, or patience. Reptillians and the infamous 'goat demons' are also common, as powerful demons find them usefool as footsoldiers, and bring them through the rift with thier own power.

Half Demon Animorphs posses thier demon parent's traits, sometimes weaker or even stronger, but are generally human in appearance, save an animal feature, such as ears, tails, scales, wings etc etc.

Demonology Primer, Chapter 4: The Ultra Rare- Grellions, Controllers, and Fatists

Grellions are rarely spoken of by demon kind, for good reason. They are the true monsters that not even nightmares dare show, and are generally considered the masters of the Otherworld. Some demons even worship them as dieties.

Grellions resemble rather flat jellyfish, except that they range from hundreds of meters to several kilometers in diameter. The largest is said to be a little over 7 kilometers wide, and has a city of its followers on its back. Their topsides are smooth, and quite hard, wilst the underside is a writing mass of tentacles of all sizes, just as equally durable. They do have a mouth, for eating, though a Grellion does not require sustinence. It simply eats other demons to relieve the boredom of the ages. Communication, when it deigns to do so, is through direct telepathy.
Grellions are also immobile.

The thought process of Grellions is incredibly slow, as is thier perception of reality. They see time in chunks of days, and can take an inordinately long time to
come to a descision. Thier plans span centuries, and normal demons have no way of predicting them because they simply lack the patience and perception to see something carried out over such a length of time.

Thier goals are accomplished in two ways. The first is through thier ability to manipulate the reality of the Otherworld in thier vincinity. The older and larger the Grellion is, the more area it can influence. It is not a quick or instantaneous change. It is more similar to the way weather changes the landscape, or humans change the ecology. They shape thier territory to thier whims, which explains the wild chaos of the Otherworld, from frozen wastelands, magma seas, black abyss, to even an Escher like metropolis. [The exact processes of this ability are explained in the Fatist section, except much slower]

The second way is through thier minions. Grellions posses the binding ability. It is simply an aura that extends from the Grellion that causes any demon to enter the are to be bound to its will. Line of sight is not required, it just happens. Again, the size of the area is determined by the size and age of the Grellion. The binding is instantaneous, and requires no effort on the part of the Grellion, but is not permenant. The duration of the binding depends on the power of the demon. Lesser demons will be bound for millenia, while more powerful ones may break thier bonds in decades, or even years. Once a demon has broken a bond, it is forever immune to the binding, from anyone:controllers or even other Grellion. The binding does not deny free will, as long as that will acts in a manner favorable towards the general intentions of the master. As soon as a demon tries to act against that, the binding kicks in, and constricts them. The master recieves a subconsious notise, and can then command the will of the bound to do its exact bidding. It is usually a reflexive action, as the Grellion do not think fast enough to take care of such problems.

Cults of worship spring up around the Grellion, and admist the points of process in the Grellions year spanning machinations, it is usually a normal demon demon acting in its stead, controlling its masses. Wars between the followers of different Grellion are not uncommon, and free demons also fight bitterly with the bound.

There are less than 20 Grellion in existance, and only one has ever known to have been destroyed. Its destruction has been linked to the creation of the rifts, and controller and fatist type demons.

Controller demons are demons who posses the Grellions power of binding. They are indeed rare, so much so that many think them a superstition. Thier area of influence is much smaller than Grellions, and the length of the bindning is much shorter, however, they are not immoble, and can pass through the rift. The binding does not work on humans, and half demons are not bound, but become incredibly susceptable to suggestion[their colluded minds willing accept the words of the controller to be truthful and factual].

Half demon controllers, while unheard of, would have a twice reduced range of influence, but it still would only work on demons.

Fatist demons are those who posses the reality altering abilities of the Grellions. However, thanks to thier normal perception, the ability works much more instantly. The ability allows a bit of prescience, in otherwords, the ability to see into the multiple paths of the future. It is a requirement for the proper working of the power , which deals with probability. Imagine that reality is 100%, and that it is divided into the many possibilities. There are an infinite number of possibilities, but the overwhelming vast majority of these are crammed into an infinitely small percentage of that reality. A few more garner less than one percent, a few more may take a single percent, one or two might have 2%, and one possibility will garner the most, the majority. This possibility is the one that takes place, the one that is happens. The Fatist ability lets the demon focus on specific events and alter the percentile of the probability of a certain event happening. The less likely the event is going to happen, the less the demon can influence it, though with enough practise, it can cause remote possibilities to become real.

Basically, to an outside observer, the demon can make whatever it wants, happen, as long as it isn't to farfetched. Also, focusing on a particlular part of an event can increase the odds of the demon's desire happening. For instance, the demon sees someone running at them with a sword. He sees that the most likely outcome is his demise with the sword run through him. There is also the possibility of the attacker tripping on a rock, or an authority figure ( a cop on the beat, perhaps) passing by and witnessing the attack, or even the high bloodpressure causing the attacker to have a stroke in his rage. He decides to make the tripping the most likely outcome. The attacker misteps, hits a rock, falls, and the demon gets away. This is just an example, and demons tend to get more inventive. The ability is not perfect, but it is powerful.

Fatists are also very rare, though at least one has been confirmed. Half demon fatists still posses the ability, though how they percieve the power will be nothing like how a full Fatist does.

Demonology Primer Chapter 5: The Rift

Despite popular belief, there is no singular rift from whence demons and humans freely enter. The term is a reference to the Great Rift, the largest opening between the two worlds that had ever been witnessed. The events that brought about the death of the Grellion Shiea-Arild was catastrophic in it's own right, and the culmination of that battle created the Great Rift, and the first unrestricted emmigration to the human world.

Passage through the rift changed those who entered. Demons of little merit suddenly found themselves equal to their masters, creatures that had once been beautiful were now hideous. The flow of power was horribly warped in that period of chaos. Boundaries were re-written, and clans rose and fell with frightening regularity. Alliances were made between demons of strength on both sides, controlling passage through the rifts with subterfuge and might. Once the Clans and Warlords and Grellion had reestablished the rightful order, the conflict began anew, and demons who had fled the chaos for the human world found themselves once again caught up in the struggle.

Now the rifts are tightly controlled on the Otherside. But in the human world the ability to create and hold rifts are all but lost, with the exception of a few ancient rituals.

That has been me for the last three years dude. This time I got out early. I was actually... On your birthday doign this:

Writing a 10 page paper, 2 3 page papers, takign finals at: 8:30, 1 and 7:45. Moving out completely, turning in my job and financial aid information to Res Life, turning in my LCAC crap for a job over the summer and next year.

I actually forgot to eat monday and tuesday believe it or not.

My birthday I was still in recovery. But I had a bunch of peopel over, have beers left after 2 nights of drinking, had liek 5 peopel get lost comign here and end up at other parties.

Those that made it here we ate, drank, told stories, remembered old times and beat teh everlasting crap out of eachother with my Boffer Weapon arsenal.

Fun times minus the headache I had from the whole jumping and hand cuffing incident...

(My 2 friends jumped me, tried to handcuff me. I got one of them with one so the other turned on him, got a second set and made "Fat-Man" cuffs. Then I cuffed the "Fat-Man" cuffs to said persons wrist, making them cuffed together. Damn I rule)

Sad to think that the second person in there is a potential for the NYPD and is going to be a member after he gets out of the training school.

The three of us jumped my best friend when he got back from going to pick up a table. (He left and didnt come back for 3 and a half hours. I found him at his house after 2 hours sitting in nothing but boxers playing World of Warcraft and rolling up a joint)
..........................

On another note- I always thourhg you were a year ahead of me. I had figured you were turning 23 this year.

@DW&Philo.As far as I'm concerned, you're both immature punks... We'll ignore the fact that you're older than me.

As for the return of Jinx/Rare... You should probably hop on AIM every once and awhile. It's been too long since I've embarassed myself in a relatively public setting.

The rare one was online last night, surprisingly. Me, Vix, Sarge, and the rum-child were chatting it up for an hour or two, just chit-chatting.

Not sure what her computer situation is atm, but already sent her a PM with some ideas i had.

Going to chat a bit with Vix, then hopefully have a char bio up by tonight.

Anywho- Jinx tested, Vixy approved.
------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Senrik, often referred to as just Sen

Age: 20

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Job: Healer Monk, currently under the service of the Mobile Nuyen trading and mover caravan (think a typical trading caravan band, who also gives a Uhaul service to the DH world)... this is the caravan Leila currently finds herself on. Sen himself acts as a healer/medic as needed, along with selling herbs and salves at city stops, in part to repay the kindness of the caravan.

Magic: Water (primary), his element for healing and used for moderate elemental control/manipulation (he can create small waves in a lake, make rain drops fall around him, etc... don't expect water spears, tsunamis, anything like that). In terms of healing, he is exceptional- able to close and repair wounds (ooc: nothing instantaneous or unrealistic, of course), mend (set) broken bones, cure many poisons, etc. Accordingly, the more serious the injury, the more effort is needed and strain is put on his own body, usually requiring him to take rests between repeated healings, or even blacking out if under enough stress. ; Earth (minor), limited to minor elemental control/manipulation (dust clouds, hardening earth/dirt). His magic can be divided into either healing, or defensive techniques, though he often attempts experiments in creativity by combining the two.

Description: 5'11; dark brown eyes; short, dark brown hair, never let grown more than a half inch all around. Well-toned, athletic build, prefers to walk barefoot, only wearing sandals or thin boots if necessary. Usually sports light, flowing, baggy, cloth clothing- typically black pants and white shirt, with cloth belt to keep clothing cinched. Carries a (roughly) 12oz canteen with him at all times, held at his waist.

Weapons and/or abilities: Carries a 5' steel staff with him at most times, held either at his back or used as a walking stick. Uses the staff for fighting, but is also extremely proficient at hand to hand (martial) combat. Through rigorous training and skill, has gained above-average agility, strength, and speed... nothing super-human, but noticeably better than average men. Using his magic in the middle of a heavy-combat situation still takes a conscious effort- he may become a bit distracted in his fighting to utilize his magic to max proficiency (though this effort isn't needed in non-combat situations). Sen may not have the lust for battle or bloodfrenzy that others may, but can still be a valuable addition to combat.

Bio: Orphened in infancy, he was later bartered over to a monastery for apprenticeship at the age of six. The monks preached the importance of inner-strength, tranquility, tolerance, and preservation of the meek. Sen took a quick liking to the teachings and beliefs of his highers, and dove into the lessons of his senseis- the several wisest of which held great power in the elemental magics. Wishing to be able to protect the weak as best he could, he devoted himself to the ways of healing and defensive magics, all the while engaging in the ascetic and discipline-intensive physical training of the monks.

Setting out on a pilgrimage at the age of 18, he wished for his own opportunities to apply the lessons of the monastery to the outside world. Despite what may be perceived as a conservative upbringing, he was raised to avoid prejudice and live by his early teachings, yet be wary and ready to face the evils of life. He has met many people, and had his own share of confrontations in his journies. He is not so na´ve as to believe the world is one where everyone loves everyone else, but he will fight passionately to defend those in unfair situations.

At the moment he aids the Mobile Nuyen caravan crew as their on-board medic, while helping the sick he finds in the cities.

Relations: None, though he works closely with Liara, the matron of the Mobile Nuyen...
-----------------------------------------
Let me know if anyone has any questions or critiques about the character... As CL has pointed out, i know that compared to most of the other characters he will be drastically less-effective in the bigger-combat situations, but that is not his primary focus (hell, i realized what i was doing when i made a human character). As the only other passable real healer is Remy, I decided that a strong healer could be an interesting addition to the bunch.

Tell me what ya think.

Yal....that wasn't even that...romantic. It was a compilation post between Cybah and I, and I think he gets more of the credit.

If you want to learn, you just need to get some experience with real women.

TG in the story? Sweetness.

allright, lets review the story so far:

1. Remy, freshly cured of the curse, now leaves with mega bitch Selenia and monty python wanna be Nathaniel to rescue Rena. Or get her back so that Selenia can tease her some more. Whatever.

2. Jack is about to set off with Necross and Shotoken (what a pair!) to go shopping for the needed ingredients to keep Jack sane

3. Kui, fresh off a fatherly assbeating (parenthood has really gone south these days), still has to figure out what the hell is going on.

4. Kaoru and Armani are now a semi item, and "As the Demon Turns" (or All my Demons, which ever you prefer) is now about to begin as soon as Kaoru's gang learns about it, Im certain. But will they go after Remy? Or set off on thier own?

Hmmm...fun. Keep it going, chaps.

Jack: I need a bow. Thats key.
Me: You could buy one...
Me: Or make one!
Me: Or buy the parts and put it together yourself!
Me: like a Kit Car only in bow form
Jack: With the pimp wheels and everything.
Me: LOL
Me: Pimped out Compound bow?
Me: with spinners
Jack: ITs got money symbols all over it.
Me: and fuzzy dice string silencers?
Jack: And chains
Me: This time on Pimp my Weapon...

I prefer: The Demons of our Lives.

I'm thirteen, there aren't any females who are worth a thing for miles, and you expect me to get experience with women?!

What, do you also want me to yank a rabbit out of my ass and turn it into a deadly killer?

Umm... the first one you shouldnt have much of a problem with. The whole yanking a rabbit out your ass I gotta worry about. But maybe if you turned it into a deadly killer I could look past any reason for it beign there in the first place...

Let me re-word this.

There is not ONE single female within possible range of me that is within my age range and not an annoying bitch. Therefore, it seems logical that I have no way of gaining experience with women, because being near these ones for more than ten seconds makes me want to stab my ears in hopes of reaching my brain.

"A bow" he says....

My main question is how imperitive is it that he gets one, and how soon? I figure if him, Nec, and Shotoken are about to go off on some journey, he can acquire one by some means...

is he the guy to make one himself (via purchaseable or craftable parts), or buy a pre-made finished product?

Either way, i would think that he could somehow get a bow one way or another... maybe they'll have to hit a market or something equivalent somewhere in the search? Just some ideas.
