What are you watching or reading or whatever anime or manga or whatever this month? o> 3/11 Up Mouretsu Pirates - nice and smooth Inu x Boku SS - surprisingly decent fanservice! but plot goes nowhere. Danshi kokousei no nichijou - a must watch this season Natsumachi - it's like nostalgia juice Another - only if it has more fanservice and more fun deaths! Steady Aquarion - Ok I get it let's get some action going Shoe's Everyday Life - Good entertainment. Nisemonogatari - quality porn Poyopoyo - Dawww Randsell & Recorder - >_> Papakiki - it's good for every dawwww moment. Amagami SS+ - aside from kaoru it is kind of yawn so far Lagrange - the Flower of Rinne - the what Black Rock Shooter the TV - it's actually pretty decent. Dropped High School SxS - not bad but can't waste the time. Maybe I should just watch the good pikasha eps. Brave 10 - it's ok. Knight in the Area - not horrible but not good enough Kill me baby - it did. Sympogear - too eh. |

Can't wait for every week:
Aquarion EVOL - HOOOOOOLES. Nisemonogatari - Fuck yeah dental care. Nichibros - Need my weekly crazy humour, which was a void that Nichijou left behind which it currently fills. Persona 4 - I never thought I would, but after picking it up out of boredom when it was around 6 episodes in, I look forward to it. It manages to not be a simple game adaptation and something more and is really quite entertaining. Even if I know what happens next, I just wanna see how they do it. Enjoy watching: Another - Manages to be interesting in a morbid cue sound effects sorta way. Mouretsu Pirates - Used to bore my pants off but I'm genuinely enjoying it now. Last Exile Ginyoku no Fam - As flawed as it is, I still enjoy it. Natsume Yuujinchou - Been a long ride, and I see it going on for a while yet and I don't mind. Crosses over into first tier with its multi episode story cliffhangers every now and then. Why do I even watch these: Black Rock Shooter - Its such a crazy mess combination of things that I have to see it through. Might partially be in the first group cause I seriously can't wait to see how it turns every week. Guilty Crown - lolshoe Rinne no Lagrange - Seriously. Why. Need to catch up to: Shakugan no Shana III - I never really liked it, but watched the first two seasons anyway. I need to see this through. Dropped: Brave 10 - Gave it two episodes. Man its generic. Also cheap whooshy backgrounds. Decided I didn't want it around. This post has been edited by DaRk_KnIgHt on Mar 1 2012, 09:00 PM |

xxxHoLic v19: the series ends with a bang-up whimper, and a subtle surprise. Now: do I go back and read it all from the beginning? I suspect yes, but not this weekend.
I'd spent the last several volumes thinking: get on with it, we're obviously in filler territory. Then v19 includes a story that's filler, yes, but I could read another dozen like it. This post has been edited by dm on Mar 1 2012, 10:55 PM |

Volume 4 of Mardock Scramble graphic novel continues to impress me --- the manga is so visual I find myself wondering how some scenes are done in the novel (which I will someday get around to reading).
Volume 2 of Gate 7 is a wonderful throw-back to an older CLAMP of beautiful fighting girls (well, beautiful fighting beings, anyway, I think Hana's gender is still up in the air). And ... why are Oda Nobunaga and Yukimura Sanada showing up in every other manga and anime these days? It's like every other American comic having gender-bent or bishounen Grant, Lee, Sherman, Jackson, Burnside and Pickett as eye-candy. And I think I should be embarrassed because of the reason I know what they're talking about when they mention the incident at Honnou-ji. No idea what's going on. At least the normal character isn't as bad as the early Watanuki. This post has been edited by dm on Mar 2 2012, 07:01 PM |

Amagami SS+ - Just two more stories left. Hopefully Haruka will take us out in style. Otherwise it's Kaouru >>>>>>>>>>> xinfinity >> everyone else Ano Natsu de Matteru - Silliness dressed up in melodrama. Amusing, but I think it falls a bit short of Toradora which, though flawed, had a point to it. Another - Moe murder. Black Rock Shooter - Daily psychosis of high school girls. Chihayafuru - Full metal poetry. Daily Lives of High School Boys - Real men drink Sunrise™ cola. Inu x Boku SS - A bit of a guilty pleasure. Ririchiyo is amusing as a self-aware tsundere. But the writers are smart enough to not wear that joke too thin and have been spending a lot of time on other characters. Last Exile: Silver Wing - Just when I think the plot is getting interesting, Fam goes and talks Sara into calling a cease-fire and halting all the action in its tracks. And my hopes for Alvis were dashed when I heard her whining worse than Claus did. At this rate, I may well be cheering for Luscinia and his kill-em-all plan. Mirai Nikki - I'm really enjoying the recent developments. And by "developments" I mean Yuno's little black dress. Mouretsu Pirates - These really are the pirates who don't do anything. Well, Marika is easy to cheer for. And whatever else, I'll never not want to listen to the ED. Nisemonogatari - Meme smut. Phi Brain - This actually isn't that bad for what it's supposed to be: a child-safe psychological thriller. But anyone older than 11 will be bored. Recorder and Backpack - Surprising how much mileage can be gotten out of one joke. Rinne no Lagrange - It's like Kamichu but with Norse gods instead of Shinto, and Ragnorak instead of Kannazuki. Shana 3 - JC Staff has been bragging about their quality for a couple years, but this is the first time I feel they've put it to good use. This war has been like watching a five-sided chess match, but the plot has remained focused. And it's now getting to the endgame. Also, Macross and Cardcaptor Sakura in the rewatch threads. |

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, but it does make me wonder if I should watch this series. Anyway: Mouretsu Pirates: Because it's good sci-fi goodness that is good. And I like it. High School DxD: Just keeping abreast of the fanservice. Cardcaptor Sakura rewatch: If you need to know what this is about or why I'm watching it, you need to just sit down and watch it yourself. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross: It's old, but seems kind of interesting so far. I guess. |

Telliamed reminded me about Mirai Nikki... I don't know... I started reading the manga with the advent of Wavemaster's Mirai Nikki mafia game, then started watching the series...
I guess it's ok, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything special by not continuing to watch it, especially when there are so many other things to watch right now... I might go back and finish reading the manga, as I've found it to contain far more character development than the anime is able to provide... |

Newer show:
- Black★Rock Shooter - Again we have two paralell stories between the school drama of Mato Kuroi and her bizarre action dream persona Black Rock Shooter. Actually I'm very impressed with the 3D CG work in this during all of the BRS moments as well as the new show opening (also using the original BRS Hatsune Miku song) with some heavily extreme and stylized action, albeit weird at times, like ever seen gatling guns that shoots hundreds of cookie pasteries? The real world stuff is a bit less interesting even though both worlds are strangly tied together, although that wheelchair girl needs to be bitchslapped bigtime. It's only set for eight episodes and I'm already half way through, definately willing to see how these girls breakdown for the 2nd half. Older newer shows: - Another - AKA: Final Destination: The Anime. From what has been shown so far I've really liked (but that beach episode was kind of blah) and P.A. Work's visuals are grade A. I know Kouichi and Mei will have this get to the bottom of their town's deadly curse but at what costs? - Ano Natsu de Matteru - "Onegai Senpai". Between this, AnoHana and Toradora this is my least favorite work from the director and chara design duo but it's still a very cute and fairly enjoyable show to watch even though the love story can get somewhat sappy at times. Dynamite drinks for all! - Mouretsu Pirates - Guest staring Usagi Tsukino as Princess Gruier Serenity. Now that Marika is a "legal pirate" at least the show can now get a bit more interesting and I liked how for her first pirate gig that everyone on the space cruise liner thought that her raid was all part of some action stage show. Still think I'll have a fun time watching this, hardly any of it is either blah or boring. - Aquarion Evol - Where taking off your pilot clothes increases mecha agility. And now frog doll ghost girl is a major member of the Aquarion team? While not the most perfect or serious mecha show out there it's still fun to watch and definately has something for everyone, plus Satelight's CG work is still top notch here. - Rinne no Lagrange - I think near the end of the series the three Vox units are going to merge together to create it's ultimate form: VOXBUSTER! Ok, not really. The story hasn't really been revealed out too much but still kind of curious how this 12 ep series is going to tie it all together if it does. Still love dat sexy opening. - Symphogear - Honestly I don't really know why the f*k I'm watching this but if you turn off your brain when viewing then I guess you can at least enjoy it somewhat. Also still love dat sexy opening (and those sexy nekkid dolls ending) and only 5 more episodes to go. Older shows: - Guilty Crown - I think we are almost getting to a point where rocks fall and everyone dies here and big surprize to see one old charactor go from the light side to the dark side. The final 4 episodes are going to be no holds barred and balls to the wall. Bring it bitches! - Mirai Nikki - Speaking of no holds barred, the last 4 episodes had a whole lot of stuff going down: The final player has been revealed, Yukiteru's -spoiler- are -spoiler- and now -spoiler- and finally isn't a pussy anymore, Yuno is -spoiler-, The 9th Minene & Nishijima want to -spoiler- be he -spoiler- but in the final eps I really think it's all going to come down to -spoiler- and -spoiler- and this shit's gonna be epic! - Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam - Even with 3 episodes left I kind of had a fun time flying with Fam and crew albeit that it's almost nowhere near as good as what the original has brought us. Seems like the final moments are going to finally reveal what actually happened with all of the other major cast from the previous show and those floating exiles. Just hoping the ending isn't a major disapointment like in the last series. - Persona 4 The Animation - Again, the show more shines when it doesn't involve the personas, especially the school festival episodes. And of course Naoto is a girl, she's voiced by Romi Pak, duh. With the final episodes winding down I think this is one of the better shows I've been watching overall due to it's fun factor alone and awesome charactors but I still just want to play the game, damnit! Not watch it (although just praying for Atlus to bring out a PS3 HD collection of the PS2 Personas) |

Watching:
Black★Rock Shooter - lesbiaaaaans! Star power! Colorful birds! (Actually I'm somewhat reminded of the "bluebird of happiness" story every time I hear about the "bird of many colors") I don't know if it's the fact that Mamiko Noto is playing a villain, but she's not so bad this time 'round. I honestly don't know if I like this show or not. It's sort of... dumb. Another - I think this is just about the only show I look forward to, episode by episode. You know, I was excited about this show and I went out and looked around the net for what I could find, and what ended up happening is I learned the book end and the manga end (which differ only slightly). I wonder what sorts of differences we'll see in the anime. Actually, the other day I was hanging out and I had an epiphany about the pigtails girl and why she doesn't remember shaking homeboy's hand. Rinne no Lagrange - I'm sort of watching, sort of not watching, I don't really know. I watch episodes when I remember to. Maru~ Guilty Crown - I drop this every week! (I'm going to laugh my balls off when it drops into a bullshit cliffhanger and we have to wait for Guilty Crown: Shoe of the Rebellion R2.) Amagami SS+ - SHUT UP SAE, FUCK STOP TALKING SAE, JUST GET TEEN PREGNANT, FUCK (nishishi~) Nisemonogatari - Not really watching (because there's no animation to speak of) but I listen to it every week. It's so DEEP and PHILOSOPHICAL. it's such a MINDFUCK because my TEENY TINY BRAIN cannot contain all these FUCKS. ![]() Macross - Minmay is a bimbo, Misa is best. Oh god, I just realized that I'll have to listen to "my boyfriend is a pilot" like a billion fucking times, because she only sings like, two songs during the show. ... and it's a lonnnng show. Maybe I should take some ice picks and bore them into my skull through the ears and save myself the eventual and inevitable suffering. Reading: (in no particular order) Kure-nai - I think Shinkurou is going to end up travelling japan, adding to his harem, and eventually saving the world without ever actually picking the best girl. Oh wait, he's already doing that. My angel Ayase is so cute - A doujin from 'Ore no Imouto'. I think it's a particularly well done portrayal of Ayase's personality. You can't really describe her personality using common conventions. Is she yandere? tsundere? tsun-yan-dere? In any case, It's an entertaining read, and no, it's not porn. Nana to Kaoru - this practically is porn. Taichi is athletic and gorgeous and Kaoru is surly and belligerent. Ah! My Goddess - Chapter 279 - Perhaps the dam has burt, because suddenly there's kissing all over the place. Also flowers. Of course I'm looking forward to another chapter of Prism. |

Damn you, I nearly choked when I read that I was down with a cold last week, so I took the opportunity to marathon Magic Knight Rayearth, prompted by the largely positive review at TVTropes. It did not disappoint. Instead of a standard fare of good vs evil it turned out to be much more complex and surprising. Then I watched the OVAs. That was really jarring because it was "Something Completely Different": a different story in a different setting with different characters having the same names. |

Busou Chuugakusei --- basket army consists of a PV (5 minutes long --- longer than the episodes, and consisting primarily of still images of the major middle-school characters) and two ONA episodes about five minutes long each. Animation is very good, and, as of episode two, it looks like the show could teach Guilty Crown a few lessons.

"Black Jack Final". OVA 11 & 12 of BJ. Made like they did in the good ole days, only better. Almost couldn't believe this is a 2011 release. A real treat and finally some anime worth mentioning.
"Gyo". Loved this over-the-top movie, even tho the plot was like a sieve. Talk about suspension of disbelief! I wonder if this qualifies as a guilty pleasure.. |

Just realized I never posted for last month, so I has catching ups to do.
Currently Watching Bleach - Whelp, shit be ending in a month. There goes the show that's been anchoring my Thursday slot for nearly 4 years. It'll be back. Chihayafuru - Another one of those cases where the show that looks decent but you pick up just to fill a slot ends up being better than the shows you've been looking forward to. The only reason it's not my favorite show this season is Shana. Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam - Honestly only watching the show at this point to see how it connects up with the first season. Wanna see more related to Anatoray. Nisemonogatari - Really hasn't done as much for me as Bakemonogatari. Makes up for it with loli vampire love. Shana III - Love how Shana and Yuji finally start opening expressing their feelings for each other AFTER they start fighting against one another. Currently Rewatching Lovely Complex - Saw a post on my tumblr about it and decided to rewatch it. Still a good show, and was one of my favorites/favorite romcom, but it doesn't stack up after being Toradoraped. Recently Watched Arrietty - The quality I'd expect from a Ghibli film, and great watch even though nothing really happened. Recently Rewatched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Felt like a rewatch last month. Still good. Kinda on Hold One Piece - Up the start of the Whitebeard Saga and I have enough episodes built up that I can marathon the shit out of it once I finish LoveCom. Started watching Bamboo Blade. Its pretty fun to watch. Sports and moe combined. Granted its not exactly a moe anime, they actually do kendo.
It is pretty damn silly on various levels but its a fun show. Chihayafuru has kinda awakened a desire for more sports anime so it kinda hits the spot. |
