The Ninja's room... and family... I have to admit I never even thought about it, but he does have a life outside of his job (though they still are pretty interconnected) doesn't he. That would definitely be outside of Miho's story now, wouldn't it. I'm now curious about the Ninja's personal life.

Nice contrast with how Mugi reacted to being transported this way.

Interesting place to hide her, who would think of the one sent to remove her from play. Must be darned difficult for normals to locate him, so hopefully nobody just shows up again.

It's maybe also curious that Miho knows about his mom, and that he so casually answers her about that and grandma. Although perhaps being unsurprised about what Miho knows just means it's a pretty standard situation. Where ninja live with their extended family at the ancestral home and so on.

Plus of course, awesome frequency of content with the expected levels of detail and win.

*carefully pokes forum expecting to die again at any moment*

Junpei's family has a nice looking house. I'm pretty sure this is going to get Junpei in trouble with head ninja. I wonder if his room will still be safe then. unsure.gif

Nice to see that even ninjas have grandmothers who tease them about girls. happy.gif

Of course you can't get anything past a ninja mom. laugh.gif

Obviously there is more to our favorite ninja than we realized. He is obviously from a long line of ninjas. I bet Grandma has been trying to get him hooked up for years, and if she finds out he has a girl stashed in his room she will go off the wall. Now will he get in big trouble with ninja #1 for hiding Miho? The other question is who is this ninja and is this person family? ninjanatsD.gif

So much to take in.

One detail I noticed - the swords appear to be a Tachi and Katana combo, rather than either the regular wakizashi + katana pairing, or the straight-bladed ninja-to one might expect in a Ninja household. I can think of no obvious significance, but Fred rarely puts in stuff like that without a good reason.

Forums work? Check.

First try even. Huzzah!

I like Miho's expression last panel. This looks to be more casual teasing than any real attempt to hurt.

Do we have a connection to Miho's story?

Miho-Junpei-Mugi-Miho...?

Miho-Piro-Largo-Junpei-Mugi-Miho

Then again, Piro and Largo - especially Largo - are X-factors in the stories of this world. They don't quite fit the tropes that it's made of. Junpei and Mugi are an unlikely connection as well. The story path is thus twice broken, and also the safe place is pretty remote from it.

Even if Kimiko's act fails, Miho is probably safe...but it would mean Kimiko, Piro, and pretty much everyone else would be screwed because the energy of Miho's horde has no place to go.

Excellent work, Fred! Especially the first frame, and loved the ending! And thank you for getting the forums back up.

Forums UP... YAY !!! And a new comic !!

Well what do you guys think of Junpei's extended family? Pretty awesome bunch. Especially grandma. But his little sister seems to have a bit of a Japanese manga style big brother complex. I'm just guessing that of course from the evil eye she's giving the pretty young interloper Miho. That's an awful big blade she's carrying, but she's SSOOOOoooooo cute I can't stand it.

What? huh.gif

Well they're all right there in the comic. You know, hiding in plain sight. I mean they're Ninja's, right? laugh.gif

You're overthinking it. Bringing a girl over to your place is A Big Deal... in middle school or high school. Heck, we see that in anime all the time. Miho's making fun of being brought to a literal safe house: his bedroom in Ninja Mansion (for lack of a better name).

Imagine she's saying it sarcastically, in a dry tone. "Does your mom know?" She's not expecting a real answer, because she's not being literal.

Mr Ninja, of course, is nothing if not literal. If his mom is anything like him, yeah, she probably DOES know. Moms have eyes in the back of their head, after all... you'd never get anything past a Ninja Mom!

And Grandma? "Did you finally get a girlfriend?"...

The Forums... they're alive!

Now I wonder what narrative Miho will use when confronted by Junpei's family. I'm thinking the "cute-girl-who-isn't-supposed-to-be-there-this-isn't-what-you-think-it-is" trope will go into effect.

And Miho's expressions are really clearly drawn even though the image is so small. I especially like her last deadpan expression. "You brought me here?"
