If y'all hadn't seen it yet, Fred posted a new rant today [1359 Rant] about taking artwork commissions.

He did a commission for me a few months ago, copic coloring an old panel of Mugi and Miho. It is teh awesome. I've told him to put it up for sale as a print, so y'all can share in its glorious Muginess. I imagine he will someday, but even then only I have the original. tongue.gif

Anyway, get your commission orders in before I take all the slots. happy.gif

Hey, nice, Paarfi! Do you have an impression of teh Mugi-original online somewhere?

Edit:

Oh, I’m sorry. I guess it’s the drawing mentioned in and linked from the rant. Beautiful indeed! sleep.gif

The idea of getting in on this is really riding on high with me right now, but the idea of wanting something more creative and unique is running for the hills from me right now.

No, Fred did the Mugi/Miho hug one for one of the regulars on the #fredrin irc chat. This is the one he did for me:

Love the tag sticking out. happy.gif

Fred? I know you don't believe me. I know just saying this makes you go into denial. But... you rock.

That pic is so sweet, I love it.

Fred, a professional is someone who makes a living from a type of job. They don't have to be all that good, but it helps. You are very good and we love your work.

Fred, a professional is someone who makes a living from a type of job.  They don't have to be all that good, but it helps.

I've watched that at work in the music industry for over 30 years. The gutters are filled with incredibly talented people, and the ones that do hit the big time? Some of them really aren't all that good. Raw talent is just one of the ingredients that go into a successful career. In that industry, the 'getting along with people' aspect is a big deal. A lot of really fine players just can't manage it.

Fred, the fact is...it doesn't matter. You tell a hell of a story, and you create compelling characters, and you're tough (and stubborn) enough to have managed the process across a decade and more. Your drawing is sufficient to that cause, and has a charm that just makes it work.

I could critique Adam Duritz' singing technique all day long, but Counting Crows got hit after hit after amazing hit....

That picture is awesome, seriously. I would consider it one of the best work of Fred's I have seen, and I own several prints. Is this available to purchase yet? I want a print.

Okay, just read his rant. I echo the sentiments of others who posted here. Also, I have to admit that I know the story those two characters he mentions in the last sentence are. I don't know if that is good or bad.

If y'all hadn't seen it yet, Fred posted one of the commissions to his deviantArt page. Magical Grrl Ping [deviantArt]. I love the telephone pole. wub.gif

I don't know whom that one was for. But if it was one of y'all, speak up so we can praise you for your excellent taste. happy.gif

I'm really looking forward to Fred doing mine.

And Fred has finished the next commissioned art: Kimiko at summer festival [pic]. Kimiko looks lovely as usual.

On to mine next! happy.gif

Teddy owed money when he did his taxes this year. sleep.gif

It and more will come back to me one weekend a month and two weeks a year, though! happy.gif

I hear you Ted, I owed over a thousand this year because my wife is running a private home cleaning business and we didn't set enough aside.

But on the plus side, that is money that was earning YOU interest in your bank accounts (even if minimal) instead of squirreled away in the Federal Bank and earning THEM interest. happy.gif

Well...

Predictable as it may be...

It involves Snarky-bear laying a fuzzy beatdown of justice to humble purge teh evil...
The venue I had in mind was one of the well stocked pastery shops in which she shelters from time to time... beard the dragon in its layer if you will.
I see Snarky armed with an improvised potlid shield, sauce pot helm, and a honey spindle for a club... but that is all back-up to the primus of all evil vanquishing weapons: the expertly hurled pies and pastries!

biggrin.gif

Tis but a fond dream of this bear...

AND TO MIHO, HER NIGHTMARE!

Too bad Fred won't do real people. I might have been interested in his version of my date with Megumi that Sareth did many moons ago. I still have the MG.

Just THIS...

" I'm not a professional artist, i can't just draw anything on request - I have to be able to get into what i'm drawing to draw it successfully (A pro could sit down and draw whatever is requested). "

I AM a professional artist and designer, and most of us SHO NUFF have a hard time just "turning it on" and draw frikkin' ANY DAMN THING some clueless client has requested. But you're making a living through your art, and you respect what you do.

That makes you a pro, 'kay?

Carry on.

So, Fred. Not only do eight-year critics say you're a pro, other professional artists say you are as well. Suck it up, dude. You're a pro. happy.gif

Cute picture for the most part, but I just can't ignore how far apart he drew the eyes.

Fred, you poor doomed fool. Do you realize that you have invited us fanboys to unleash all the twisted fantasies of our dim shriveled minds? In hopes that you will validate them as actual ink on paper?

Mihoromatic (in maid outfit) painting the toenails of Vampire Princess Miho.

Miho-Robo (adorned with spikes) lacing the corset of Dread Mistress Miho. (we are not worthy!)

Yeah, I'd buy those. If nobody else beats me to it...

I've enjoyed every one of these commissioned works. *(^.^)*

Today Fred worked on one for Meimi that I think is adorable, with Masamichi giving an expression that's priceless. I would love a T-Shirt of this one when it's done.
