Megatokyo Forums > Story Discussions > Haiku: [295] Post Mortem Confession

Posted by: Mintaka Aug 9 2002, 07:25 AM
Time for confession.
It has been seven minutes
Since my last beer, Miss.

A, Kami-sama,
I am heartily sorry
For all of my sins --

What are they? Tell me
Why this sorrow is my life.
Are game kills murder?

Is it wrong to help?
Interferes with your karma
Of self-punishment?

But I will not speak,
And I take back the railcard
Though it is not fair.

This always happens.
Nice girls misunderstand me
If I should like them.

I am unabsolved.
Railcard, beer and loneliness
Keep me company.

The moment stops
The walls have all come down now
Will you say your heart?

half-drunk muttering
and tears shed over your beer
yields salty lager

[irish_haiku]
In all taverns and pubs throughout time,
This alchemical mix you will find:
Shedding frustrated tears
In the dregs of one's b33r
Will transform it to vintage port whine.

like the autumn leaves
his head falls into his glass
lost in misery

Choices must be made
And their consequences faced.
Piro chose despair.

That look in his eyes.
Will he stand up himself?
Apparently not.

<!haiku> Piro looks scary when he's staring down that railcard at her, like all the years of geeky frustration is about explode in one gigantic screaming rebuttal. And then...he cops out as always.</!haiku>

[irish_haiku]
There are numerous nasty retorts,
To which Piro could quickly resort;
But there's no way his scorn,
Can repair what's been torn,
And he won't be unkind just for sport.

the cuts you enjoy
most are least forgivable,
and most regretted

Even when you're not composing, Mintaka, you are.

It is the railcard
shoving in my nose
almost in my eye

Flimsy plastic dreams
are thrust in my face again,
a card snapped in two.

[!haiku] Thanks for some much-needed inspiration, Xeruro. Good observation. happy.gif An' that was sw33t, Mintaka [/!haiku]

Pain, frustration swarm
inside one's head; grief measured
in years; simply... TANJ

<!haiku>
TANJ... I love that word... from the game Return to Ringworld it means "There Ain't No Justice" and I get the idea Piro can identify with that now...
