largo tells his tale
kimiko sighs her travail
the mandala wails

[irish_haiku]
Two story lines running in parallel,
A passion play and modern parable;
Between self-delusion,
And rampant confusion,
The suspense is becoming unbearable!

Ok, if there's at least ONE person in this forum that -

Ok fine fine, I'll be more "restrained" about it.

Simple version : Who in their right mind would seriously do a haiku over an internet comic that the creator protests as being "nothing". It defies normality.

Have a nice day.

Posted by: Stryker Jul 15 2002, 02:43 AM
That was uncharictaristically mean. What's going on?

Posted by: Stryker Jul 15 2002, 03:13 AM
Umm...in case you haven't noticed, there's a haiku session after EVERY SINGLE COMIC. Don't get all high and mighty. It's just a tradition. Live with it, or as I do, enjoy it.

Posted by: Klauth Jul 15 2002, 04:11 AM
Ok, you just said something that I'm already well aware of.

That does not moot the fact that it's rather abnormal.

THe fact that it's rather abnormal does not mean I do not 'live with it" or notice things.

Hope you can understand that.

Two-gun combat school
The master shows l33t skillz
Dead zombies smell bad

Are fantasies cheap?
As the woman drinks her beer
Piro sees the light

[!haiku]Hmmm... maybe this was what RL Piro meant by "Sea of illumination"...[/!haiku]

[irish_haiku]
Largo and Dom kills zombies with ease
But he don't tell his story in japanese
Across the table
She is only able
To ask "Could you pass the soy sauce, please"

In between madness
And confusion there exists
Only Kimiko

Poor career choices
Kimiko doubts her future
It's time to get drunk

Largo's narrative
It leaves much to be desired
What do you expect?

Perhaps Piro can
Save the day for Kimiko
Or perhaps he can't

<!haiku> Klauth, why are you trying to ruin a perfectly good tradition? I've been reading and writing these haiku off and on since about comic 150 or so. It's a simple, harmless, silly way to have fun. Perhaps the real problem is that you don't know what it is to be a real MegaTokyo fan. Do you even read the comic or do you simply abuse the forums? Honestly, it'd be best if Kai simply banned you because all you do it mock what others have created. Your sticking your fingers in everyone else's pies and then complain when people get upset. Get a life man, outside of trolling for arguments. </!haiku>

<!haiku> Kimiko looks stunning in panel 5. Just the right kind of sadness to make her character really stand out. Way to go Piro! </!haiku>

In reply to:

So is art in general.

Besides, I do not believe in the myth of "normality". The Average Joe is a statistical construct, not a real person. In essence, it is normal to be abnormal.

Posted by: Klauth Jul 15 2002, 04:47 AM
It's not an offensive stance, but more an opinion thrown out there. And even then, I get bad responses.

Whoa whoa whoa...Deos...you're complaining about you getting upset is more like it. Sure I'm a fan, but that doesn't mean I'm a hardcore monkey 110% into the subject and that it occupies my life as a whole.

(Understanding Klauth for Dummies initiated) The above statement does not mean that YOU, or anyone else, is 110% into the subject and has no life. It is merely an exaggeration of a point. And I know darn well my comments are taken too seriously, and I don't go "fishing" for arguements, but I won't resist a bad one that could use some cleaning up.

Now for my stupidity :

Largo on a trip
Piro tries to talk again
Kimiko's soul sighs

Hey, you there, stop laughing at it! I'll kill you! *runs after said imaginary annoyance with squeeky mallet of doom*

Posted by: Stryker Jul 15 2002, 04:59 AM
Ahh....this is the MT I know.

Posted by: Shoka Jul 15 2002, 01:38 PM
Oh my, isn't this fascinating?! If I understand you correctly, Klauth, you don't mean to be offensive; it is just that everyone takes you that way. You're just misunderstood. That's all right though, I don't mind being offended from time to time, if you don't.

There's a troll on the forums named Klauth
Whose posts are ill-thought and all-mouth;
So he squats by his screen,
And he grunts, and he screams,
While what passed for his brains drizzles south.

Please don't take offense at that - I don't mean it seriously. It's just a joke.

Posted by: Piro Jul 15 2002, 01:59 PM
gee, that was kinda mean.

people are inspired to write verse for all sorts of reasons. I put a lot of extra stuff in the comics that i've seen only surface in here, because there are a lot of things that cannot be said in plain prose, but only in verse

kinda like how there are a lot of things that can be said with a drawing that cannot be said with prose.

so dont go knocking the hard work these people do for haiku stuff. they enjoy it, dont be mean.

if you must know, i have friends who think that its stupid that i do an internet based webcomic, and that its just a waste of my time. There is nothing important about it, i could be doing other things.

but what do i care? I like doing this, so its what i do, and fuck what anyone else thinks.

Klauth, I'll admit it:
I *AM* daft, or so I think.
No sanity here!

in the haiku threads
we've had our critics before
no one needs to yell

I mean, honestly,
who writes about these things that
poets seem to love?

the bugs on a screen
(be they http://www.microsoft.com/ or http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=chitin)
weeds that grow flowers
and internet bit patterns
all of these things are fair game

it doesn't matter
what the creator claims is
in his creation
(who made the weeds, anyway?
No one, unless you say 'God')

"You say that we're mad?
Well then, we'll be DAMNED if you're
...not completely right".

so you're quite welcome
to come be an idiot
with the rest of us
your haiku observation
is a good base to build on

[anti_inflamatory] Just because tempers *seem* to be running a little thin today, I'll include this disclaimer: I'm having nothing but fun with my poem, and it's my sincere intention that you have fun with it too. I didn't mean to go on for that long, but I was having fun, and trying my best to make a meager point, too.

BTW, Squeaky Mallets rock. [/anti_inflamatory]

Well said.

I think that was the infusion of sense this thread needed. That I'd already tried to infuse. Hmm...I always try, but it never works for me...maybe I should start a webcomic, then, once I have amassed a huge fan base, THEN people will finally listen to me.

looks around carefully. So... Klauth thinks we're wierd and we think we don't give a shit. Well, settled then, time to move on... </!haiku>

Kimiko nurses
cold beer; was all she ever dreamed
making cheap fantasy?

Ho boy, I was wondering who did in Klauth. Then he told me to read this thread and now I see it too...

He thought it was funny. Now I didn't feel like it, but I'm willing to do him one last favor and put his stuff here. This is so going to result in bad image, but I can handle it...for one day.

For Shoka : He said something akin to no one WILL understand him, and that you were rather ill inspired and maybe halfway understood what he said. And I'm not having to be generous on the transition from him to me.

For whoever it was :

In reply to:

And we should give a shit why exactly?

Klauth says (and I qoute) : Who said you should? But you seem to, so your problem not mine.

I couldn't really edit that, being as short as it was. Oh well, I'm done here I suppose. I have a feeling he's pushing my luck to hell...

I can't think of a single thing apart from the "precious illusions " song.....
you'll rescue me right? in the exact same way they never did..
I'll be happy right? when your healing powers kick in

you'll complete me right? then my life can finally begin
I'll be worthy right? only when you realize the gem I am?

but this won't work now the way it once did
and I won't keep it up even though I would love to
once I know who I'm not then I'll know who I am
but I know I won't keep on playing the victim

these precious illusions in my head did not let me down when I was defenseless
and parting with them is like parting with invisible best friends

this ring will me yet as will you knight in shining armor
this pill will help me yet as will these boys gone through like water

but this won't work as well as the way it once did
cuz I want to decide between survival and bliss
and though I know who I'm not I still don't know who I am
but I know I won't keep on playing the victim

these precious illusions in my head did not let me down when I was a kid
and parting with them is like parting with a childhood best friend

I've spent so long firmly looking outside me
I've spent so much time living in survival mode

i think it fits the thread perfectly!

You ought to know by now that I listen to you.

Posted by: Nall Jul 16 2002, 07:27 AM
I just realized something...nothing rhymes with month. Odd isn't it?

>>I am not trying to start with you. Just surprised...

Wow. Seawaffle. Fancy seeing you here, Mr. "poetry filter, it keeps me from going insane..."
--Very nice work.....

Anyway....

Her eyes hide something.
Something no one understands.
"Largo! Don't touch that!!

It's.... clueless Piro.
"Aso, you're a voice actress..."
Glug glug glug... wide eyed.

I suck at this.... Comfort me........

> Wow. Seawaffle. Fancy seeing you here

I think we have an Avatar Problem. Release the hounds!

Posted by: Shoka Jul 16 2002, 11:20 AM
>sigh< Seems I gave way rather badly to the "dark side of the verse".
I feel pretty badly about that now. My apologies to all for adding more
bile to a thread that was already distracting people from the fine poetry.
My apologies also to Klauth, whom I used rather more harshly than he
deserved. I was a jerk.

Posted by: ((Tomassan)) Jul 16 2002, 11:37 AM
Avatar problem? wha....? Should I be laughing now? I don't get it.....

ithil -- you know just how to make a guy feel like an idiot....

(this is really off-topic, I know, but I had to find out...)

Posted by: ithil Jul 16 2002, 02:42 PM
As far as I can tell, Seawaffle has not wandered into this thread. His avatar, however, has, courtesy grasshopperKAT.

Posted by: ((Tomassan)) Jul 16 2002, 07:20 PM
......Of course he "wandered into it." ....... 'Matter of fact his very post is 6 above yours........

Posted by: ((Tomassan)) Jul 16 2002, 08:04 PM
Aaaaah! You're right! It is grasshopperKAT. I guess that over time I have come to recognize that avatar solely with Seawaffle -- I see the avatar, I think Seawaffle. I knew it all couldn't be right.... He loathes poetry with a passion.

I'm dumb.....

How could I be so.... blind?

Posted by: Mintaka Jul 18 2002, 08:31 AM
Piro, what is this?
Defending your own work now?
Good Lord! Self esteem!

(And that's a good thing. Keep it up!)
