from those of us in D.C.
...and not for a while

This day too shall live
in infamy. In our grief,
who can find right words?

We watched news in school
I cannot believe it's gone
What is to come next?

Posted by: Vaevictis Sep 11 2001, 01:56 PM
I too first heard it
Whilst in a house of learning
All of us were grieved

No words can describe
The pain and suffering of
This ill-fated day

I can only hope
Those responsible are found,
And swiftly punished

[!haiku]
I can't speak for all of us, but I think it is safe to say that almost everyone in the United States...nay, almost everyone in the world is shocked and outraged by this heinous act of terrorism. For once I agree with something President Bush says. Those responsible will be hunted down and punished for their crime against humanity. That's my two cents.

Ergh, the worst is yet
to come. I heard gas will be
four bucks per gallon.

All of us are pained
yet not to compare with those
touched by the terror.

I was scared all day
My mom lives in that city
She was fine, thank God

One more person adds
His sympathy to the forum.
Now, we can but pray.

What a tragedy;
The way we all feel right now,
Words cannot express.

again on the wall
scratch it out for good measure
silence lasts longer.

what is truth today
may not be truth tomorrow
but my heart still beats.

different beliefs
so irreconcilable
can not co-exist.

sadness in my heart
reigns forever and a day
yet not yesterday.

tears weep still more tears
tears of ash, twisted metal
tears of silent screams.

you will ALL be missed
God bless you and keep you safe
may you rest in peace.

Silently, I dream.
Blackened by wars, we fall,
attacked by closed minds.

Painful memories,
given to many children,
parents cry out too.

Years will surely pass
before these inhuman fools
see their act as wrong.

I wake to see pain,
that the parents pain is real
that children now grieve.

Beatiful people
Giving their lives to save those
around them in need

A black wind blows: the
gale howls. What ills does
it carry today?

Posted by: Glump Sep 13 2001, 10:37 PM
I claim no wisdom
But what I think is the best
Thing to do right now

Try to build something
Something beautiful, worthwhile
Or helpful to smiles

Strengthen foundations
Lend others your strength and be
Better than you were

It can work wonders;
For witnessing destruction
Construction atones

And in the end, then
If we are stronger for this
The murderers lost

In Hindu belief
They say that all destruction
Shall breed creation.

Let us rise up, then,
A pheonix from the ashes.
Let us build again.

Let us embrace this
As a unifying force.
We shall be as one.

Let us ne'er forget
The lives that were lost in this
Most heinous of acts.

Let us also see
We cannot grieve forever.
The world keeps turning.

Let us remember;
Let us help others in need;
Let us build again.

Found a link today,
It is comforting to know
the world truly cares

[haiku]

America: kind, good
Friend to all, slow to anger...
but we're angry now.

We must guard against
innocents needlessly hurt
when we seek justice

else we will not be
the America we love so much
and that cannot be

Truly, those pictures
Are a stirring display of
The world's sympathies
