Guiness Stout on tap,
aroma of roast barley
Magic beer, indeed!

Virtual Guinness
and virtual drunkenness.
What's next? Let me guess:

Virtual lampshades,
virtual pink elephants,
virtual D.T.'s.

"Little Town" is not
like Our Town (and I for one
am very grateful:

There's no Our Tavern
down in Our Town, and that makes
the locals hateful),

the "Little Tavern"
serves Ireland's finest, Guinness,
and by the whaleful.

Thus "Little Tavern"'s
ever sale-ful, "Little Town"
folk, never baleful.

Drunk or sober, Trent
could never Manage a Stage
as did Spalding Gray.

*sigh* No takers for
our haiku thread. Here's something
different, instead.

[cricket sounds]

Well, that went over
like a leaden Zeppelin.
(Hears the sound of snores.)

From now on, no more lobster jokes. Or cannibal poems.

We ph33r your sk1llz.
How can we hope to follow
such a performance?

And still, there is life
in the one true haiku thread:
the meme lives on yet.

It may yet surpass
tales of dating, and girls
sweet and innocent.

Celebrate its life,
for at moderators' word,
that thread too will close.

Likewise, this "haiku":
A fad; it's "in" this season,
but fashions will change.

This is natural:
Like autumn leaves that crumble,
All things fade in time.

What, then, will you write?
Perhaps a cannibal joke
or lobster poem?

a haiku thread?
what is that which you speak
of? I don't know.

Of Haiku threads, there
be three of recent vintage:
this ven'rable thread,

noble ancestor;
this fine thread, which sprang therefrom,
my first exposure;

and then a new one,
to that day’s art related,
which Phaedrus started,

with the happy thought
to honor each cartoon in
this fine tradition.

Worthy modesty,
but a full telling must cite
an iron chef saga.

Tarquin, Jack, welcome.
Each strip, a haiku thread -
A still pond, waiting.

Abstract the essence
Of Piro-san's offering,
with haiku pebbles.

Drop them in this pond.
Watch reflections and ripples
From other poets.

Ripples from few stones,
lack the beauty of many.
Please cast your pearls in.

(I munged the link
hence this hasty edit job
forgive my blunder.)

Everyone has b33r,
But Tycho and Gabe came first:
See - the snacks are gone!

We shall not ask where,
Since it may prove to involve
Certain parties' pants.

Neverwinter Nights
Cannot rival Seventh Sea
For drunken antics:

All players should take
The trait of "Able Drinker",
Lest they fall down quick!

An “able drinker”
rating, upon the Seven
Seas? What tipsy Ships,

what happy Navy,
crew’d with happy gobs at
ease? When do we sail?

(Dedicated to Tarquin)

So zen-like a thought:
"All threads are but transient"
It gave me brief pause.

But then I heeded
words of master Largo: "Go
for the H41ku, Boo!"

At that moment, I
was enlightened. I follow
the path of l33tn3ss.

Able was I, ere I
drank Elba. Was that still
palindromical?

I thought it was
Ironic for me to present
my query that way

seven drunken knights
who play Neverwinter Nights
will lose all their fights

Jack, your irony
went right over our heads, whooooooosh.
gomennasai, y'all.

There's naught to fear but
fear itself. If we seek to
write fair verse, and find

ourselves fair bested,
why, we grin, we try to bring
fairer verse to mind.

At last, I fully
understand supal337 l337.
But what does 'wai!' mean?

Actually, on
second thought, I don't want to
know. Mine's a pint, guv.

[!HAIKU]Wai!: equivalent to Yay!

As in: Wai! Biru![/!HAIKU]
