A leaf falls earthward
Brightness fades as dreams fly past
Winter's closing fast

QUOTE (CountAlpicola @ Oct 21 2005, 10:58 PM)
A leaf falls earthward
Brightness fades as dreams fly past
Winter's closing fast

Memories yet green of times past,
Defy the wintry present.

Faded glories spark
Bittersweet remembrance:
The taste of regret.

Chill winds blow
What they may bring
Awaits tomorow

QUOTE (AncestralHamster @ Oct 22 2005, 02:28 AM)
Faded glories spark
Bittersweet remembrance:
The taste of regret.

They come back against her will;
Mem'ries of a warmer home.

'Cause she sees it here.
Once a home, empty, rotting,
Uninviting now.

Cradle of her youth
Mausoleum of her end
Echoing silence

Thoughts of hands that once warmed mine
Against the chill of Autumn

Cold winds that sweep through
This empty world cannot warm
My forgotten heart

Good job guys. And I just had to add this classic:

Aki wa kinu
momiji wa yado ni
furishikinu
michi fumiwakete
tou hito wa nashi

Autumn has returned:
multicolored fallen leaves
carpet the garden,
and the long path lies buried:
no visitor wades these drifts

QUOTE (Mae @ Oct 22 2005, 01:59 PM)
Thoughts of hands that once warmed mine
Against the chill of Autumn

A love to warm the soul,
A fire to light life's bleakness,
By time extinguished.

QUOTE (Mae @ Oct 22 2005, 01:59 PM)
Cold winds that sweep through
This empty world cannot warm
My forgotten heart

The winds of loss cut deeply,
Lashing a sorrowing soul.

[verse]

What was left behind,
With this somber evening dream,
While all the world encroaches in
To fracture the place of longing?

What was left behind,
In the chill of dwindling light,
With naught but hope that years gone past
May still be remembered warmly?

What was left behind,
In the gale of autumn's flight,
To wait unmourned in veil's embrace
And pray as the wisps fade softly?

What was left behind,
As the strings of winter hail,
To gaze along the vacant halls
And strain to hear o'er the echoes?

[/verse]

The chill of winter
Hides the garden that may come
As the night does pass

The widow of seas,
waiting for a captain's call,
hears her mate no more.

The seas have claimed his young life.
She haunts this house with mem'ries.

My first attempt at a (meaningful) haiku. Don't be too harsh with the criticism, that is not my area of expertise... smile.gif

seeking love long lost
staring past the horizon
lost in memory

thoughts carried on the cold wind
long forgotten emotion
