Megatokyo Forums > Story Discussions > Drabble [684] Not Very Good At It

Oh, dear.

Just when I thought things were going so well for my dear Erika, it seems to have taken a turn for the worse.

Oh, hello, Junpei. Pardon me if I have a seat. I hope you don't mind if I borrow your wallet for a moment. Just wanted to get to know you.

No, no need to call me by that name. I left that one long ago.

Erika was quite the actress, you know. Played the magical girl very well. Unfortunately, she's not very good at being one in reality.

Poor Largo. Got his heart stomped on.

[Wh00t. That's cool. biggrin.gif Uhm... so do I get to post a drabble too? Er, not sure, but I'm putting one up anyway.]

This has never happened to me before.

I'm usually right about what I know. Everything I knew about the opposite gender - waste of time, they're all the same.

But that was until I met you, and now I don't understand what I used to know before. Everything I thought I knew changed.

Why is this happening? I'm hurting, but why? Is it because I was wrong about you?

The moment our eyes tore away from each other, my mask dropped involuntarily. I donít get you, but I donít get myself either...

I might as well go get a beer.

[Ambiguity at beginning set on purpose, just in case I incur confusion. @_@]

He did it.

And here I thought he might be hopeless, that all this effort might be for nothing. I've spent nearly a week as Largo's conscience, watching him make mistake after mistake, commit wrong after wrong, and not even care.

I know he feels horrible now, and I can't really blame him. He has hurt poor Erika, and I know he cares about her. I can tell that with every step he wants to go back to that table, to sit down, to...he doesn't know what. But he doesn't, because that'd be wrong.

I smile. He did it.

Largo,
A complex egnigma that I was assigned for as a temp. But what has happened that even I, your concious, can't even understand? Could it be that you do not nned one that maybe your life is so complex that no one can understand you not even your best friend. What is it about Japan that has changed you from the hard core FPS (First-Person Shooter) Gamer that you are? Could it be that this idol person changed you so much that you have stopped using L33t and use your experiances of Piro and yourself as a councel. Maybe you are your concious and you don't even know it?

While this is pretty good, I count 110 words, which doesnít qualify as a drabble. A drabble is a story with exactly 100 words. You can also write a double-drabble or a half-drabble (like this post).

Rapierman, you might want to include a short explanation when you start the thread.

Then you should go back and edit the rest of it. English has a lot of "noise words" that can be safely omitted; beyond that, there are many ways to phrase things, and they usually differ in length. The challenge is to find ways that lead to a 100-word story.

[!drabble]
By the way, when you're saying things in one of these threads that aren't half-, full- or double-drabbles, you should put "!drabble" tags around them. That way we won't try to word-count them. ;^)

(This whole ritual may seem odd, but it's derived from the haiku threads, where the poets have been known to complement each other in haiku. In the same way, I find it amusing to respond to people in half-drabbles, like the first paragraph of this post, and the entire body of my previous reply to you.)

Yeah thanks for the advice so let's, for right now, call it a 1 and 1/10th drabble

Too true. Largo-sensei is going through a very hard time. Largo-sensei not show weakness out exterior, all occuring on his virtual memory. Hopefully he'll have some hidden protocol that will allow him to fix things back up. ^^; Right? Right?...yeah.
