The following are drabbles (works of precisely 100 words, focusing primarily on a character's thoughts and feelings).

----

He's already tearing into his food, despite the fact that we've only just sat down. He always goes straight into things, it seems--if there's something to be done, he'll do it, with no regard for niceties like procedure, or customs, or politeness.

I'm not really sure if that's a virtue or a vice. I do know that it's different, and in a way it's nice. I've noticed that about him--he doesn't see me as an idol, a weapon, an item.

Or does he? Is this all a façade?

Perhaps I should find out.

"If I sleep with you..."

----

Beef in this country's awesome. They must have l33t cows or something. So, let's see what she’s got...

Athlon 64 FX...that Asus SLI board...and--yes! A dual graphics card setup!...couple 512 DDR2s...wifi card...whoa, nice monitor...liquid cooling...

This box might be nicer than her. Didn't think that was even possible.

Speaking of liquid cooling...hmm, soda underflow. Well, I have ice...

Mmm, ice is nice.

Priority interrupt

Did...did she just ask what I think she just asked? Because if she did, she should realize I'd be less likely to go away if she...

Crunch.

Piro-kun can be such a baka sometimes. He doesn't understand people, that's why he'll fail. I don't know why--

Directive 1466.3 (enduser.affection++)

Maybe I just need to help him understand where he's failing...yes, that might work. I guess I--

Directive 1466.b--

Override! I'm following Directive 1466.5! His self-esteem will recover in the long run.

I wish I weren't always fighting my--

Directive 1.1 (this.obedience++)

Okay, I should be gentle first, then harsh to punctuate. I don't want to hurt him, but he'll be better off long-term...

Better off with her...

Why can't I--

Directive 1466.5 (this.dispassion++)

----

She--what?

I...I guess it makes sense. I mean, it's what she was designed for, right? I mean, she was designed for ren-ai games, after all. She was programmed to care for her end-user, and when Tsubasa left, I...

Wow.

Too bad she's a non-H--

No, dammit, I shouldn't even think that. What would Sera think of that? I mean, she looks like a highschooler. She's probably not even that developed emotionally, if she's based on dating sim characters. It’s not like I've turned my game skills into much of anything in real life.

...so...what does she want?

----

The author sat back from his work and closed his eyes for a moment. It had been difficult--and not just because of Microsoft Word's flawed word counter--but he had done it. Four drabbles for four characters.

But he needed five, for he had just reached his 500th post, and that would be numerically appropriate. But how to reach this goal? He knew nothing of the thoughts of Meimi, Junpei, or Dom. Kimiko hadn't been in the strip for many days. How to fill that last slot?

"Aha! I'll write a filler drabble about me!" And so he did.

Lessee... Drabble thread protocol calls for additional drabbles to follow the theme of the thread, but post count protocols only call for congratulations. And, since it's 3am and I've not written a drabble in a while, I suppose it'll have to be the congrats.

Not bad... but there is no way I am gonna write 70 drabbles....

Damn high post count!

This made my day.

Comparing Japanese burger joints with American ones.... depends on which burger joint you go to. (Teriyaki McBurgers are quite good, as a matter of fact.)

Though there is a Japanese burger chain called Dom-Dom.

I personally like the drabble about Ping. It is well executed (but then again, from a sysadmin, it should be). Also is reminiscent of the EDS Doll framework protocols that Code and _Quinn, I think, hypothesized quite a long time ago.

I personally can't do drabble, but this seems well done.

Clink your glass and crunch the ice.

(No, I am not like Erika.)

Congratulations, Brent-kun.

Ah, but there's already a [682] drabble thread. If you wanted to write a single drabble for [682], that'd be the place.

Yes, but it'd be great to see you try. :^P

But we both know that's exactly what he was thinking... "yummy--WHOA THERE!" (to borrow an exclamation from Perl's Configure script)

Likewise. ;^) (Although that one paragraph feels forced...that's what filler words are for, silly chibi. :^P )

Thanks for all the congratulations so far!

Very good-- especially the mix of the human and digital feel in Ping's.

I've actually never heard of drabble before. Where does it come from?
