They too wish life? True.
But not all can I protect.
That shan't slow my deeds.

Not all deserve life.
But taking the undeserved
is human, deshou?

Kimiko stands but
Kotone overshadows,
Much larger than life.

Miho poses this:
Who decides life over death?
Those who can, of course!

Curse you for your great poetry, Sax! Here goes nothing...

Do the unreal live?
Can black lines and colours grow?
Or are they just shapes?

How can drawings live
When even we struggle to?
Can pencil lines smile?

Statues do not weep,
Nor straw men awake and march.
Why should drawings speak?

Living things may die.
But dead things may never live,
Pixels have no soul.

(Bloody hell, I'm bleak tonight...)

Who lives and who dies?
Eagle or sparrow? Which one?
Equal odds, same fate.

To whom would this thing matter?
None can ever see this truth.

You want bleak?

Avatar descends
Graphite is now the new black
All is night and fear.

But, on the plus side. . .

Black lines surround light
White spaces define our hopes.
Kotone will live!

Meanwhile,

Ah! Rapierman!
Falling is never flying
Even done with style.

But things can fall up
If the attraction is strong
And resistance weak. wink.gif

Eagle and sparrow:
Both can fly. They do not fall -
in this there is hope.

But remember:

Haiku is just fun
Rarely profound (well, from me!)
Philosophy it ain't!

Posters on a wall,
Rows of empty seats cry out.
Fill us all with life!

The dark one requests.
Justify your chosen path!
She yearns for purpose.

Tween fiction and real
Lies an illusory divide.
All is abstraction.

Even the solid
Is just play of forces told.
Shall worlds merge in Sight?

If only it were!
Miho doubts she can be loved.
Oh, to prove her wrong!

Posted by: mistersaxon Dec 11 2007, 12:40 PM
Amen, Binary!
I would love to prove her wrong
Over and over!

<*Ahem*> So sorry!
I think I said that out loud.
*Shuffles off, red-faced*

*Thinks:* In those long hours
'Twixt dusk and dawn she could be
Older than she looks. . .

And, in those same hours,
In my otaku day-dreams
I could be younger.

*Sigh* wub.gif

And, for something completely different:

BinaryTears is
Sig-less! Nothing more to say?
Just purple today?

Sorry; couldn't resist.

Really nice work in this thread, folks! I like it!

@BT: lovely and deep as always. Thanks. wub.gif

@mistersaxon: ditto, and - oops! - out loud. But then, besides the passage of time we're facing, is the cruel reality of an attraction to a character made up of lines and colors on a page.
Otaku? Yes. Healthy? Time will tell I guess

I heard that Mr Saxon.
No need to blush. For Miho,
The queue would be long.

Though Miho's appeal
For me is a resonance
Of lonely Fates shared.

Your day-dreams of youth
Have visited this mind too.
Purity eludes.

Heart's noble ideals
Somewhat smudged by fetish for
Cute Asian chixors.

Something in the word
"smudged" makes me laugh out loud (LOL!)
It sounds smutty, no?

There's a theme here about graphite and carbon defining hopes and fears, being something like serious for a second. The levels are amusing and disturbing in equal measure as well:
Avatar13 wonders:
QUOTE
How can drawings live
When even we struggle to?
Can pencil lines smile?

Which prompts me to muse about how:
QUOTE
Black lines surround light
White spaces define our hopes.

While BinaryTears approaches from a wider angle:
QUOTE
Tween fiction and real
Lies an illusory divide.
All is abstraction.

Rudbeck rightly asserts that we are faced with:
QUOTE
the cruel reality of an attraction to a character made up of lines and colors on a page.

So in the "real" world we ponder the decision of a manga character about the "life" of a manga character in her anime.

Truly the pen(cil) is mightier than the sword. With the latter you can rarely create beauty, love, hope. But all these flow from, basically, ashes in the hands of a master with a blank piece of paper.

Sticks of soot and clay
Define a world from nothing.
So - Let There Be Dark!
